Had a lovely beef burger meal and coke.

9yr being a customer. Regular each month. Very very obedient child and dog being not allowed inside. (Absolutely empty on approach!) leave ya to the live in locals!

Brilliant, been there many times, and loved it.

A few years since the last visit tbf, however still seemed the same - nice place, well kept beers, great location- the food that was being served looked great, will return asap.

Booked a table of 6 for 5pm Arrived on time and order taken ver quickly After waiting over an hour for our food we asked how much longer was it going to be. We were told they are just plating it up. 10 mins later the food arrived 1 hunters chicken meal cold and 1 chicken burger not cooked properly. We expressed our feelings when paying the bill of £90 We will not be visiting again

Lovely traditional pub. We've called in for a drink a few times and a lovely friendly atmosphere. Called in for lunch today and absolutely hit the mark. The steak and ale pie is superb, never had better - genuine home cooked and seriously generous portions. Fish and chips equally superb. The staff were friendly and welcoming. A really lovely traditional pub in a very nice spot with excellent food. Totally recommend

Great place to eat with friends

Gr8 pub we visit when we stop at Hasey Quay campsite. Always good food and beer and gr8 staff and service. Last night was no exception,possibly the best steak pie I've ever had and a good size portion. Definitely worth a run out just to av some

Closed kitchen 40 mins earlier than advertised on the website. No good.

Regrettably WiFi is no longer available to customers at this pub, hence reduction from 5 to 3 stars. No WiFi is a problem as the ambient signal in the area is bad. Food and beer remains good.

Very over priced for the size and quality of the meals. Had the sweet chilli pan fried chicken and chips at £14. Relatively small amount. Chicken just tasted like it was covered in chilli jam. Chips were mainly the broken ends and it was clearly pre chopped lettuce. Very little effort put in. Would have expected £9.50 sort of price tag. The other diners on my table wernt wowed either. Also seemed to take along time to come while the place wernt that busy. Shame really as it used to be really nice there, with good quality and value.

Stopped for a quick pint on the way back home, lovely atmosphere and staff.. no complaints 👌

Very busy at lunchtime food not great! But wasn't the most expensive.Nice outside seating over looking the canal and field.

I honestly don’t know how to put into words but this place is so special, it’s not just a pub or a place to eat, it’s so welcoming and the experience is incredible, it was my son Noah’s 3rd birthday and we got the best, most special treatment, thankyou to the girls for singing a happy birthday to Noah, thankyou to the waitress who served us, thankyou to the women who served us the carvery and a big big thankyou to the women who owns the place as she is such a lovely women. As we was leaving all the staff and customers sung Noah happy birthday, honestly the best experience! X

Sat on patio area overlooking canal as dogs are allowed outside, not inside the pub.Had chicken sandwich with roasties,gravy,stuffing ball. Staff were polite.

The best mince and onion pie on the planet. Good beer and lovely staff..what more does anyone want, oh yes, a great price and they deliver on that too! A must go to pub. Hang on, don't, or if you do leave some pie for me 😉

Always a nice friendly place to go to, on the river idle. Lovely food and real ales.

We dined here with family and we're immediately seated. The first server took our drinks order and quickly brought them over. We were given menus and decided what we were having but 20 minutes later had still not had our order taken. Another 5 minutes passed and my husband asked a member of staff if we could order our food. She said yes. Another server came and said that she thought we had been served, she took our food order and we all ordered a carvery. 15 minutes later whilst sat in the boiling hot conservatory we still were no further forward with eating. My husband again asked another server about our carvery. She then proceeded to get our tickets so that we could get our carvery. When waiting to be served we were rudely asked to move out of the way by a server. At this point I just felt like walking out but after nearly an hour of waiting we stayed. Carvery was nice but the service was terrible. We even paid at the till to get out faster. The lady on the bar was so lovely and it's a shame the younger staff aren't as considerate.

Inside of the pub is a bit dated but the outside terrace more than makes up for it. It would have been a 5 🌟 but the beer wasnt very cold and on a burning hot day thats what i looked forward to after work haha

Our first visit with our relatives and we really enjoyed it. The staff and service was fantastic. The food, was really good, we thoroughly recommend the Steak in Ale pie. 😋 We loved the atmosphere and the lovely setting. We'll definitely be back.

Went to pie night on Tuesday, fantastic choice of pie's, very good value for money £10 per head, so impressed we re booked next week. Excellent, highly recommended.

Five of us had a lovely birthday meal today for my hubby's we had 2 Ribeye Steaks with a bottle of red, liver bacon & sausage, served with mash & peas, Steaks cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious, served with nice crispy chips, garden peas ,lovely onion rings , tomatoes and mushrooms, Can certainly recommend and will be coming back 😀😀

Sat in the bar area looking out onto the water watching folk in boats pottering around on the water, Had the chilli con carne which was very good. Staff were lovely, food took a while to arrive but worth the wait.

After rowing on the River Idle with the race finish being just by the pub, the renowned steak pie with chips and peas along with a pint of cider went down exceptionally well. Great food with super service doesn’t disappoint.

Attended tonight for a family members 60th. We came with 2 children and one with an allergy. Couldn't of been more helpful. Thanks for this as it's sometimes difficult with it. Food we had was amazing. Would definitely recommend the steak and ale pie. Packed full of steak and at a very good quality! Will be coming again soon. Thank you.

First visit to this pub. Sat in the conservatory. Had the steak with peppercorn sauce, chips and onion rings. The whole meal was delicious. Finished with rolo cheesecake it was yummy. Will definitely be visiting again

Booked at the last minute to accommodate 13 of us, thankfully they squeezed us in. Food was excellent and an added bonus was pie night, so the price was even better! We will definitely be going again, especially as they have offers on most night. Great food, service and excellent value too, what more could you want

Great place for a really good meal

Had a family meal here yesterday for the 8 of us. Staff are really nice and the locals are super friendly. Food was fantastic and the staff member with the Spider-Man tattoo has an excellent taste in superheroes 😂 will be here again, used to come as a kid and always been fantastic, highly recommend!

We had Sunday lunch at the Haley Gate Inn today; what an excellent meal!! This very attractive pub stands on the banks of the River Idle with waterside access. There is an outside terrace, a beer garden and lots of dog friendly seating areas. (Watch out for Vera, the resident cat though!). There is a choice of a carvery with beef, turkey, ham or pork (or vegetarian option), or a meal from the menu that you can personalise with your choice of vegetables and sauces from the carvery. Portions are very generous and the vegetables are freshly cooked and delicious. Prices are reasonable, £12 for an adult carvery or item from the menu. Child portions are £6. We had a delicious lunch, finishing with a portion of chocolate orange cake, and chocolate fudge cake served with your choice of cream, icecream or custard. This popular venue gets very busy, so be sure to book your table first.

As always incredible value for money, cannot fault the meal deals. Staff are super friendly and helpful, went mid afternoon just after a bank holiday, so not many people, but that’s just timing. Obviously going back again

Today was my first time here, really liked it. Great service, warm friendly welcome and lovely food, good value for money.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon for our anniversary lunch, fairly busy but not overly so. Manageress was welcoming but waitress was quite rude. 40 minutes after ordering we were still waiting for our food, went inside to complain, the waitress came back out, no apology and asked if we wanted more drinks while we waited and food wouldn't be that long and asked us again what we wanted. Another 15 mins, still no food so we asked to see the manager to be told she was very busy and would be around 10 minutes before she came. Asked for a refund as we had paid on ordering at which point the food arrived, closely followed by the manager who apologised and gave us a partial refund. Food was ok but spoiled by the experience. Sad to say we won't be going again.

Simply the best pub pie & peas that I've ever had Update. 13th may 2023 We loved it so much last time that we went again today. Sadly the steak and mushroom pie was incredibly salty such a shame as we travelled a long way as well.

Great food, decent prices, fish n chips had massive fish. Waitresses were polite, friendly and when not busy were chatty. Bar staff not so, huffed when i didn't have the exact money and not a smile to be seen. Lovely setting by a river, car park is rough driving on it and got building work going on at present outside.

Nice pub/restaurant, good quality home cooked food and variety of dishes, On different days, they do specials, like fish & chips day. Friendly staff and country pub atmosphere, overlooks small river. Fairly priced and good variety of beers.

We went in on valentines day, with the children, not expecting to get a table seeing as we hadn't booked vut the staff found us one and wete particularly friendly and welcoming to all of us. In fact one of the ladies there was our unpaid photographer dor the afternoon and took some family photos for us.. Can't complain at all. The food was lovely too and service was quick, lovely atmosphere and general cleanliness was really good. We will definitely be going back again. 5 stars doesn't quite do this place justice! We were very happy with our time there and in fact have been each time we've visited!
