This is a food establishment and a very good one at that! Have had both lunch and dinner there very recently and it was excellent. Can particularly the pork belly bites as a starter they are amazing.

Last night we went to the Sun Inn, at Everton near Bawtry - another ‘new’ venue for us, and only half an hours drive away. This pretty gastro-pub comes well recommended by our local area groups, and we were most impressed! Our menu choices were soft shelled crab, and Scotch egg to start. Main courses were whole plaice, sea trout, lamb burger and Caesar salad. We couldn’t resist trying the desserts and we picked cherry Bakewell Eaton mess, and cookie dough brownie! The Sun has some great menu choices, there were lots of dishes we would like to try, so a repeat visit is certainly on the cards very soon! And it’s a very sociable venue - we were soon chatting to the ladies on the table next to us!

Sunday dinner is excellent. We paid extra for cauliflower cheese. It is worth it. Make sure you go on an empty belly. They do not scrimp on the portions.

Ordered 2 steaks for my partner and myself and waited and waited as they were busy , unfortunately the sauce was not pepper corn it was gravy ! Did Report it to staff who went into robot mode of telling us all sauces were made by hand . Apart from the wrong sauce everything else was delicious.

Visited with a friend, lovely pub, staff and food.

I just wanted to say me and my date had a brilliant experience at The Sun Inn, from start to finish the staff was polite, welcoming and last but not least, the food was absolutely top notch! I had the Sun Inn Smash Burger and my date had the Haddock and chips, both portions was very well sized (which helps because I’m a massive foodie) and very reasonably priced too for what we received! Oh almost forgot to mention it was washed down with a few drinks that were also very good and served with kindness and politeness. We will definitely be visiting on another date day/night again! 😍 Thank you to all at The Sun Inn!

Took the wife for a meal , ordered the steak and ale pie ,.all I can say is I needed a Hammer to break into the pie the pastry was rock solid ...56 pound for a meal for 2 along with 2 drinks and 1 sweet

Lovely meal, generous portions at a good price. Nice friendly service. Can’t recommend highly enough. Every dish we had was excellent. Lovely out door terrace too.

Called at lunchtime with my wife and daughter, as of previous visits the service was excellent even though the place was quite busy, the food was also very good , strongly recommended the squid start it is fantastic. Fish and chips were also good

Really nice place, only had a couple of (non-alcoholic) drinks here, and it was pretty quiet, but i'd definitely head back there again to try it out properly.

Another first for me today. My husband went about 30yrs ago!! I took a few photos of the outside beer garden on our way in. It will be fabulous in Summer.Lots of seating including swing seats, a play area, a doggy station and an outside bar with ice cream parlour - definitely going there 😂 We had a table booked and were welcomed by a young gentleman who seated us promptly. The decor inside is fresh and quirky. Gorgeous tiles on the reception area. We were led through 2 more rooms to our table. Again decorated in a country theme. The special was lamb shank which my husband chose. I chose pork belly and we ordered a side of cauliflower cheese. We were deliberating over starters until we saw the size of the lunches and decided against starters - glad we did as the lunch was huge! A medley of veg - mange tout, French beans, glazed carrots, red cabbage, white cabbage, leeks and baby corn. The usual mash, roasties and Yorkshire pudding plus an extra boat of gravy. The pork and lamb just melted, no cutting required! Great service from the waiting staff, not overbearing but checking if we needed anything a couple of times. Will definitely return. £53 for 2 mains, 3 pints and a side of cauliflower cheese. Excellent value for money.

A lovely Sunday lunch again would be nice to have broccoli and cauliflower without the cheese not to keen on mongetout n sweetcorn last time we had brisket and it just melted in your mouth the sirloin not as good but still not bad. My husband had the lamb shank that was very nice. We do love the pub and the atmosphere the service is always good nice friendly staff.

My daughter and 3 grown up grand daughters enjoyed the Valentines Night. We were all very impressed with the lobster special menu ( one g/daughter had steak) and no matter what food was put on the table it was all excellent. The service was beyond excellent, all the staff were very professional, friendly, always smiling, cannot praise them enough. if anyone out there reads this review, if you do not try the Sun Inn, you do not know what you are missing.The live entertainment was also very good and chose some brilliant songs to keep us happy. Went for Valentine’s Day. Fabulous as always (although the music was a little loud). Great food, great service, reasonably priced. One of the best places in the area 👍

Went here with friends, lovely atmosphere and l could recommend the brisket to anyone.

We used to really enjoy coming here..the previous staff were so friendly and always found something for the dog. The staff now are rude and unfriendly. But the main issue was the attitude to the dog. If you say you are dog friendly then people with dogs will visit..and expect decent service and not to be expected to pay £7 for 2 strange uncooked sausages. The guy serving was totally unhelpful and obnoxious. One of our party had soup and a starter instead of a main..they were both brought out together so the hot starter was cold by the time she finished her soup. There was no enquiry from him about when she wanted it bringing out. The burgers were supposed to have onions on but were missing or so few we couldnt see them After handing over £80 we said goodbye and were ignored. Presumably because we didnt tip!! Wont be back!!

Food is usually very good here but vegetables and potatoes tasted like they had been reheated from Xmas day (boxing day) The beef was very chewy with lots of fat. Very disappointed.

Big family meal for 11 over the Christmas break was really great. Pre ordered food from the full menu was delicious and promptly served. Drinks service was attentive and swiftly delivered. Many thanks to Darren and his team for a special family event.

Four of us just had Christmas lunch at the Sun Inn . Everton. It was very very good. I personally would recommend the breaded Bree for a starter . Well done to all the staff. Merry Christmas.

We know the food isn't great here but the pizza usually is. Tonight was shocking. Staff rude. I'll go again cos my local but never food.

Yesterday we went for a birthday lunch and the meal was outstanding. Beautiful food, immaculately presented. As important was the service. DARREN is consistently one of the best service managers you will experience, alongside SONNY. Their attention and care are wonderful. When we booked the table, we requested a warm seating area through the online portal due to the birthday lady being ill. They took care to read this, arranged a special table by a warm log fire to keep her comfortable, and made the whole experience lovely. This was lit and ready for her arrival! Huge thanks to all involved 🙏 you are all appreciated, and we will be back!

Excellent country pub. We are semi regulars here and have not had a single grumble about anything. The food is great - and big portions - the service is spot on and it’s a really nice place to have a meal. We take our toddler, and the kids food for him is excellent also. We’ll be back, often.

Great pub and eatery. It was a good day when we visited so we decided to eat al-fresco. Food was well presented, good portion size, well cooked, and very tasty. Background music added to the ambience. There was a good selection of beers and wines, food and drinks well priced. Very happy to return for more of the same.

We normally have a lovely meal at the Sun Inn, however last night was not good at all. 2 starter were returned as they were cold. We were advised it was due to the plate being cold! The Caesar salad which is normally the best was tasteless and the beef madras tasted of vinegar, the beef was tough. The dough on the kids pizza was not cooked. We got to the point where complaining just seemed fruitless. Don’t like putting a bad review out there but felt I needed to. It didn’t spoil the night as we were out with friends for a birthday. We won’t be back.

Fabulous food and service. I had the Sunday lunch Sirloin of Beef and my partner had the burger. Both arrived promptly and hot. Great pub, friendly and efficient staff. Will definitely return. Amazing 🤩

I've always had good food, good service, and a good time at the sun inn. Last time was a little disappointing as the pie ordered was so hard it wouldn't cut and the steak inside was black and burnt and when we told them so we were told it was supposed to be like that, which was clearly not the case otherwise we would have been able to eat it. Other than that, the staff are very friendly and on top of things, the decor is beautiful, and we had a great time being serenaded by the singer outside. Would still go again absolutely

We came for a family meal on Saturday evening ,there were 6 of us plus a small dog, we were welcomed by the msnsger who was extremely polite snd friendly and made us feel extremely welcome, We ordered a selection of meals with some additions and the menu had loads of choices, The starters we delivered to our table by a few of the staff who were all courteous ,polite , and professional in their service, Following the starters we waited a short while for our main courses which was great as it gave us chance to have a drink and a good catch up, When the main courses arrived by the same attentive and friendly staff ( WOW ) all the meals looked amazing and were absoluteley delicious ( Full praise to the Chef and kitchen staff )the portions were wonderful and generous, We all decided to forego the deserts as we were so full with the starters and main courses . As we were all so very pleased with our meals and the service by all the wonderful staff we decided to enquire about Christmas Day Lunch so on speaking to the manager we all decided this was where we wanted to be on Christmas Day so decided to book there and then to secure our reservation , Many thanks to the Manager and his marvellous team,

Came in Saturday and had the most amazing food and the service was amazing. Booked whilst we was there to go back on Sunday

We had booked for a family get together and honestly now wish we hadn't bothered - out of our 4 meals one (a pizza) was very good but the other 3 were disappointing to say the least. My vegan pasta had a good sauce but no added protein and the pasta was overcooked and soggy. The 2 fish & chips had good fish but the chips were hardly warm and were neither crispy or tasty. Worst of all were the tea and coffee we ordered after the meal - 2 of the cups had huge chips out of the rims and when we pointed it out to the waiter, he simply walked off! Worst of all was a serious hygiene concern (at the bottom of the 3 tiny milk jugs there was both dirt and mould! Again, we pointed it out; again our waiter was totally disinterested. We won't be going again - with everyone's budgets stretched as they are at the moment it is simply not good enough.

First time visiting after it was recommended to us. Brilliant friendly service, our mains were delicious and I have words to describe the Strawberry & Cream cheesecake. Allow time for a nap/food coma 🥰

Has a wonderful birthday dinner for 10 of us. Sat outside for drinks then in the restaurant for our table. Great service and really great fresh food. One of our party had the steak and ale pie, homemade, looked amazing and it beat them! Still not a fan of the keg urinals but they are a bit quirky if you like that sort of thing.

We've just had a fantastic meal here. The food was excellent and the service and staff were great. A very clean establishment. My daughter and I had the burger, my son in law had the steak and my wife had the fish and chips. All commented on how good the food was. The raspberry ripple sundae was superb. We'll definitely be coming back

I’m so impressed I’m sat writing this in the beer garden! Popped by and dropped in on Father’s Day. The team were really friendly on arrival and were so helpful in finding a seat. The manager went out his way to take my order when the bar was busy. We had 3 meals. Burger, fish and chips and a kids meal. Great quality and very reasonably priced. First time ever been and I’m annoyed as I’m only 15 mins away! Will be back for sure. The outside area was spacious too with a nice kids area and the music was nice and chilled for a Sunday afternoon! Top marks.

This is a nice go to pub restaurant, nice comfortable outside area, nicely decorated interior, very professional service, the food we ate was excellent, good choice of wine and beer, be careful don’t go too late, they like to close early

Vegan dish of battered cauliflower included a battered prawn which was hidden & I very nearly ate it... I've been vegetarian forever so not a nice experience. Still feel sick. Was told it was an accident, but really it's pretty basic to keep prawns and vegan dishes seperate and not fry together to avoid the mix up! All settled though because they gave us £13 back towards our meals. What a joke. Think we will stick with the Blacksmiths in Everton going forward. Much better value and less likely to get served hidden prawn.

Superb service and great food, what's not to love.

The Sun Inn isn't a bad place to go for a pub meal or a beer or two. Unfortunately however today was not their best day. No pizzas at all and 20% of the rest of the menu was unavailable. The Southern fried chicken burger was very plain also. Expect to pay around £18-£20 per head including a soft drink.

Great place lovely inside and the food and service was fantastic.

Excellent venue had booked a table for four which became 7 we were well cared for excellent service particularly from the shift manager who accommodated our increased party with no issues. Food was excellent and drinks being brought to you even in the bar area. Dare I mention for me and my party the music was way too loud and on a system that can not be lowered it's on or off ..for us when your chatting catching up, off would have been our vote. Those with poor or sensitive hearing it really is not necessary. That a side and hopefully something that will be looked at. The venue was 10+/10. Do visit if your able.

Well well well, what can i say about the Sun Inn. Here goes, the decor is amazing and the staff are on another level of politeness and service. The food is far superior to many michelin star restaurants i have been to also. I kid you not the food is prepared and served way better than the afore mentioned. I shall be a regualr customer when my free time allows. It is great to see that quality of food and service is alive and kicking in the Sun Inn. Only popped in on a work mission today but was warmly welcomed by a lad called Louie. Really helpful. Will deffo be back for lunch and hope to wash it down with a pint of Black Sheep!

Loved it. It was so unique a surprise round every beautiful corner including the gorgeous toilets. Everything was spotlessly clean even the brilliantly designed beer garden. The service was brilliant and the food was.,...well...to die for, delicious 😋. I never give 5 stars there is usually some way things can be improved but not this pub/ restaurant, its perfect.....maybe reduce the price a little 😉 but no genuinely perfect...thank Paula & Tony
