I have been here multiple times and have always had a really positive experience, food is lovely, very clean and friendly. However, my experience today was so negative and the staff were extremely rude. Me and my friend used the side door after ordering not seeing the ‘staff entrance sign’ which isn’t very clear. The staff were then loudly speaking about us from behind the counter saying ‘it literally says staff only, what do they need a flashing sign that saying no entry’. I found this really unprofessional and will not be returning.

Excellent cafe. Everything about it is delightful. Clean, light, bright room. Smiley, efficient, helpful staff. Wonderful coffee, mountainous pancakes, a perfect bacon roll. Thought and care have been put into this place. Well done to all concerned. Highly recommended.

Have now visited many times - only negative is that you can’t always get a table. Staff are very efficient and friendly Food is amazing and coffee is perfect. Highly recommend

Four of us for breakfast on Sunday morning outside in the sun and a perfect hockey location, The mixture of full breakfasts, good coffee, and pancakes was everything we wanted, plus a really friendly team serving us. Perfect !!!

We walked in and as is so often the case these days, got completely ignored and left to stand there for a good 5/6 mins even though there was 4 staff having a chat amongst themselves. Trying hard not to sound like a nit picking Karen but there is quite literally zero customer service. On the plus side the breakfast was not bad apart from the mushrooms, however a cool £27 for 2 English breakfasts seems a touch over the top but again could be overlooked if it was welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately it’s neither.

Friendly, busy, little cafe near the National Ice Centre. Seating inside & out. Menu had lots of choice for vegans. Vegan breakfast was excellent and good value. Several different plant milks available. I saw vegan cake too.

We always head here when we want a quick, tasty breakfast. The coffee is fantastic and a huge shout out to the lovely Lianne, who always provides outstanding service and conversation. For a great Sausage cob, the Hockley kitchen is an inevitable go to! The review would be five stars if it was solely based off of customer service, but we couldn't go the whole hog because the value for money isn't fantastic if you would like a bigger meal.

Stopped by for lunch having never been before, unfortunately I would not go back as I found a hair on my bagel.. A shame as the food was tasty it looked like a cat or something similar

Called in for lunch, we both ordered a panini with a side salad and a latte. The coffee was barely warm, service was really slow, the coffee arrived after about 5 minutes. We then waited about 20 minutes for the paninis which only arrived after we had been in to chase the order. They then forgot the salads. People who came in after us were served first and some had finished their meal by the time we got ours. Definitely will not go there again.

One of my favourite places in Hockley, highly recommend. Good coffee and the best club sandwich ever. I had an excellent experience with friendly and approachable staff, and everything is reasonably priced. If you need of a hot drink and a good lunch there are few better places in Nottingham.

Great location, overpriced but most in the area are. Hubby really enjoyed his sausage and egg roll. I went for the Greek salad and balsamic glaze with halumi as an extra. £1.50 for two very thin slices of halumi. Thought the salad was poor, basically a bag of brown round the edges mixed leaves and a few olives. Hardly any onion. Forced half of it down then realised the balsamic glaze was missing. Spoke to the staff but they couldn't have cared less. Very watery weak coffee. Won't rush back.

ENGLISH: A short walk from our hotel was this small coffee shop open for breakfast or brunch. A truly English place who serves the tipically English breakfast (sausages, beans, eggs and bacon) or bagels and a nice selection of sandwiches, but thay offering also a good assortment of sweety stuff as cakes, croissants and pancakes. The bill is quite high compared to what we Italians are used to, but these kind of big breakfasts lead to quietly skip lunch. As an Italian I want to add that I have drunk one of the best cappuccinos in my life, a creamy that I never drunk before. The place is run by young staff who does a lot of work, but waiting times could be improved.

My breakfast sandwich at Hockley Kitchen was easily one of the best tasting and more affordable meals during my 2-month stay in Nottingham. It's a cute cafe in a fashionable neighbourhood. The service was also good. I'd happily go back. I now want to try the scrambled eggs with salmon and a side of sourdough bread.

This review is purely about the customer service I have just received and not the food. I was looking forward to trying the food as I had been told to try it out. On ordering I asked a lovely girl behind the counter if I was ok to sit at a table that was for 4 people. She kindly said “sure go for it” so I got settled and was excited for the lunch I’d ordered. A guy called Ryan brought over my coffee and asked me to move, when I explained I had already asked to sit there and told it was ok, Ryan pursued and pressed me to explain to the point that it was completely embarrassing catching everyone’s attention. I had gone in for a quiet coffee and lunch and left feeling the most humiliated I have ever felt in an eatery. The experience completely caught me off guard and I really feel that customer service needs to be addressed here.

Amazing! Couldn’t recommend more. Staff were super friendly and kind, and there were loads of vegan options for me to choose from. My partner is an extremely fussy eater too and he didn’t have any trouble finding a GF option he liked. 10/10

Great sandwiches, and a varied menu that caters to all tastes. It is a little busy at breakfast, but cozy. The staff is just lovely.

The bacon on the English breakfast wars of the highest quality together with no shortcuts being taken for the mushrooms, toast, egg and beans with proper HP sauce provided. Certainly this was the tastiest breakfast I’ve tasted this year.

Visited Hartley's with my partner and another couple for breakfast. Even though it was busy, service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious, I had a sausage cob and my partner had a full breakfast. Coffee was good, and the large size was giant - just what I needed on a Sunday morning before a long drive back to Glasgow! Would definitely recommend.

I love Hartley's, can always rely on them having super tastey and comforting food. one of the best places for vegan options and have been for a long time. Also got the vegan Oreo chocolate cake which was super duper fab.

We visited on a busy Sunday morning and cant say enough about this place. If they have had issues (pervious couple of reviews) they seem to have fixed them. The coffee machine was broken but the staff couldn't have been better and explained about it and it wasn't a problem. My partner and I decided to eat here on a Sunday morning after reading the good reviews. When we walked in only one table was spare, which we thought was a good sign if the place is busy. We sat down at this table as there was nowhere else, but it still had leftover plates, no knives and forks, no napkins, bean juice on the table etc. Not a problem - happens in a lot of places if they're busy until a staff member clears it away.

But I thought I could get some food here? Usually, this cafe is excellent but unfortunately appear to have hired some surly, po-faced staff of late. It isn't much to ask that people have a modicum of courtesy, surely? Sandwich was very tasty however.

I've only been to Nottingham twice in the past year - and I've visited Hartley's twice too, which hopefully tells you it's a good cafe. Nice strong coffee and good paninis. Today I tried the Greek salad with chicken - best salad I've ever had, and it cost less than a fiver. Red onion, olives, cucumber, peppers, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and chicken as a topper: Hartley's was generous with all the ingredients. I undid all my good, healthy work by having a slice of chocolate fudge cake: nice and moist and chocolately.

Anytime im in Notts I always pop to Hartleys when I need my coffee refill.

Had read great reviews and popped in for a coffee and cake on Saturday afternoon. Had rocky road and just crumbled when I cut into it. Banana bread was mediocre. Also tasted stale. Staff pleasant enough but could not seem to manage too many people at once.

I have been to this cafe so many times with my family, we love it with the kids as they can choose exactly what they like from the salad bar. We also found it reasonably priced as there is a few of us.

As a family, we stumbled across Hartleys a few years ago while desperately looking for somewhere to have lunch. All 4 of us are both gluten and dairy intolerant, which makes eating out a nightmare.

We visited about 11:30 on a Saturday morning as we did not want to pay the extortionate price for a hotel buffet breakfast and we were not disappointed. My wife had the Vegan breakfast and I had the had day breakfast. Both were very large and we could not eat it all. The food was well prepared and good quality (All English had 2 sausages, two slices of toast, loads of mushrooms, two large tomatoes, a pot of Baked beans, and bacon). Very good value at half what the hotel would have charged us. Recommended for the very friendly staff as well

It is a while since we have been there, but on Saturday visited while we sheltered from the rain. They seem to have changed things up a lot with a new layout, menus on tables and different food options. My wife and I both had the full English, and we felt it was very good quality, as well as there being plenty of it. Staff were friendly and helpful and all round an enjoyable experience

I popped in here on Monday 1st... wish I hadn’t. I ordered bacon & mushroom brown bap and a small cappuccino. £6!! My bap had half a rasher of bacon on it with button mushrooms rested on top not even sliced!! They were falling out of the bap. Bland and tasteless. Brown bap was terrible. For £3.45 I expect a lot lot better. Cappuccino wasn’t to bad but with 2 mouthfuls it was gone.

We stopped in here for a quick coffee. Order two flat whites, coffee cups far to big, terrible froth and bitter coffee. Left without drinking.

Good quality sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes with ample fillings. Everything was freshly made to order, which meant there was a 25 minute wait for food to be delivered but we were warned of this before ordering.

Never normally one to complain but this one was terrible. Took an age to arrive but I was patient thinking surely it will be worth the wait. No butter on toast or so little you couldn’t taste it, eggs dry and the salmon although plentiful had grissly chewy bits in every bite. Ghastly experience and very disappointing.

Wonderful cafe. I have to have a gluten free, dairy free diet; couldn't fault the staff or the options available. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and noted my dietary requests when i informed them. I was able to choose a lovely lunch and had none of the stresses i usually have when dining out. The food was well presented - couldn't wait to tuck in and it didn't disappoint.. delicious!! great soya latte and gf df cake to finish off.. lovely lunch.. will return.

This is really good, the food is basic (in a good way) sometimes what you want isn't something fancy fancy, and you just want a good filling meal for an alright price, then this is the place that you can easily get that. They offer milkshakes and cakes etc. The price is a little bit high but that is understandable as it is in the centre of hockley. I would recommend this for a quick bite to eat, take away lunch or a passing meal. I would not recommend it if you were sitting down for a long period of time as the environment is much like an old english cafe, not a cosy cafe (definitely recommend outpost cafe and blend cafe) for longer stay coffee chats etc. But never the less! This place has nice basic food that tastes good and will filly you up.

Decided to give Nottingham's chained coffee houses a miss & have a stroll down Hockley, took 2 stools in the window, staff friendly, service swift, coffee good, free wifi easy to access.

Me and my wife had the sandwich and English break fast it was very bad and the staff they not even check the satisfaction.......
