Amazing coffee and they will happily make drinks not on the menu (partner always gets a cortado). A perfect range of delicious snacks. It is the only place in Leicester we go for coffee as all coffee roasted on site and they often change the variety of the house espresso beans so you get to try the different beans you can buy there as well. Super high quality. The new downstairs area is nice and cool on hot days.
We ate last night 8 of us and we weren't disappointed, every course was fabulous.
The starters were lovely all the mains were devoured by all of us, all 8 plates were cleared completely, I had sticky toffee pudding which was the best I'd had for a long time. My friend had Eton Mess, she said it was great & it looked it.
Really recommended giving it a try

So honestly if youre looking for a cheap place to get a kebab or chicken heres the right place and its also fresh and well cooked as well.
The Shawarma was literally the size of my leg

Let me start by saying i wish i tried here sooner. Ive stayed with the same takeaways ive tried and tested over the years and if im honest here isnt the best on the eye from the outside so ive been sceptical but i was wrong. Fast service very polite and the food was banging tender full of flavour. The smoked chicken was to die for curry full of flavours just the right amount and surprisingly cheaper than my normal go to. Can honestly say its worth a try. Credit to them. Only downfall is they do not deliver.
The food was average; my husband ordered medium rare steak- it was medium. The portion of green beans we received was meagre and the peppercorn sauce was so overwhelming with its pepper that it was inedible. The Mediterranean salad was £12 but was a mean portion. The service was ok- but my in laws had to wait for plates to be delivered, and the meals came out in dribs and drabs. Also very expensive for what it was.
And to top it off one of the members of staff told a male customer it was ok to use the ladies. One may not see this as a problem, but ask yourself this- when is it ever acceptable for a fully grown man to be in a privately enclosed space with girls and women who have to partially undress to use the toilet?
Less than impressed.
Would highly recommend visiting The Chequers. We stopped by for lunch, had the seared salmon, tarragon & confit chicken Kiev & crème fraiche panna cotta. There were a number of specials displayed on the chalk board although we decided to stay with the main menu this time.
All absolutely excellent. Warm welcome & great service. We will definitely visit again. Thank you.
Nice atmosphere and great food. Service was prompt and always very attentive. Compete with one or two other restaurants nearby, but this is definitely the best one.
