We had a most enjoyable Sunday lunch with family. Cannot fault the food, service or atmosphere. It's not a bad drink selection either. Will definitely call again.

Hasn't changed in 35 years. Food and fashions have changed. Keep being wholesome.

Spot on! • Chai – Absolutely spot on! Rich, warming, and brewed to perfection. It’s the kind of chai that makes you stop mid conversation just to appreciate the flavor. • Nimbu Pani – Crisp, citrusy, and unbelievably refreshing. The balance of tang and sweetness was just right an ideal drink to cool down with. • Bombay Sandwich with Chilli Chips – Comfort food at its finest. Crunchy on the outside, packed with spiced potato, chutney, and veggies on the inside. The chilli chips added that extra kick we didn’t know we needed. • Ragda Pattice – An absolute standout! Soft potato patties smothered in a spiced pea curry, finished with tangy chutneys and onions. Every bite was a beautiful chaos of flavor hearty, comforting, and authentically Bombay. The service was warm, the atmosphere buzzing, and every dish delivered on both flavor and authenticity. Final Verdict: This place doesn’t just serve food it serves memories. This is the sweetest quiet local stalwart restaurant with super tasty Italian food. We return again and again, always happy with our meals, very nice house wines, and very friendly service. Hope it sticks around forever!

Never had bad food from here before but that was disgusting 🫣 Homemade cheese and onion pie is usually lovely but that soggy mess has made me feel sick!! Rotten chips too🤢

Always delivered on time or as Really enjoyed our prawn bhuna last night, thumbs up to the chef. Always delivered on time by very polite and pleasant staff.

We stumbled on this café on our arrival. We were looking for a late lunch venue. Number Forty Four, was warm and welcoming. We all chose various sandwiches and either wine or a slim beer. The staff were chatty and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch experience. We returned the following day for lunch and immediately booked a table for breakfast on our final day. Highly recommended

First visit to a good and traditional local .Went for the Charity Quiz night on a Thursday. Great fun , entertaining, good questions, live music round . Decent pint . Nice loos . Outside space was splendid. And we won!!!!

We often pop in for a glass of cask ale in excellent condition, but this time we brought visiting relatives for Sunday lunch. It was a very good meal, well above standard pub fare. We particularly enjoyed the roast pork and proper, freshly prepared vegetables. Strongly recommended!

I thought it looked very run down. The derelict canal alongside didn't compensate for that.
