I heart this place so much. The owner is a local legend who is enthusiastic about his shop. The cheeses are fab and there is a wide selection. The crackers, salamis and olives are top drawer and this is my go to local deli. There is a great brew pub next door if you are into your brews and it makes a nice 4pm round trip
Went with 4 friends and forgot to complete the reservation booking. They were still able to squeeze us in. The welcome was lovely and the food superb. Outstanding Tuscan menu with incredible wine list. Great service 100% recommend
Lovely and extremely tasty food. Very reasonably priced. The staff are very helpful in selecting the dishes and the food is in plenty. Lovely atmosphere too. Definitely will visit again.
We came in last week, as a family of 3. We were served within 3 minutes of being sat down, and our waitress Scarlet took very good care of us, even recognising myself and my daughter from the last time we came!! She was very thorough with the specials they had on at the time, and had plenty of patience with us when deciding.
Amazing atmosphere, loved to watch the teams play football while we ate our food. We even got dessert this time, the sticky toffee was absolutely delightful. Cannot recommend the Sunday roast enough!! I went for chicken last time, this time tried the beef. Did not disappoint!!
We will be coming back to say the least, and excellent service as usual from Scarlet. Look forward to coming back again!
We had a selection of wonderful tasty dishes, all freshly prepared and beautifully presented, real home cooking;. With friendly helpful service and atmospheric background music it was a really great evening, and astonishing value. Can't wait to go back.
PS Also good for a morning coffee and baclava snack!
The food was great.
The service attention and response to modifying the dishes was excellent.
Mine host was very engaging and efficient.
Will go again.
First time visit to this cafe/coffee shop but hopefully I can plan another visit to Cockermouth soon and get to have another fab breakfast. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and the coffee is good too. Great value and thoroughly recommended.
Booked last minute on Saturday evening for a quick bite to eat after a busy day. The staff were very friendly, seated us quickly, menus delivered quickly and food/drinks ordered pretty swiftly. The food was delicious! Pretty good value too . It turns into a cocktail bar with DJ playing music from 9,30pm so we had to make an exit as we had children with us (I wanted to stay ) but I’ll deffo visit again with girlfriends. 5 stars for me 😀. This place should be packed out at a weekend as it’s awesome !
Always one if my first stops when visiting Whitstable.
Joy’s food always hits the spot. Her food is fresh, outstanding quality and the taste rates as 5 ⭐️
The Thai fish cakes and pad Thai are perfection, stop by and grab a bite.
One of the fun things about travelling around, (often in your own 'backwoods'), is when you unexpectantly stumble across a small eaterie or coffee house that you did not know existed... as was just the case for me recently with Forest Edge Roasting in Lyndhurst.
I spend quite a bit of time in The New Forest and especially in Lyndhurst, (the de facto capital of the Forest in fact), for one reason or another and am quite well acquainted with the High Street coffee chains & independent outlets in the main part of the high street..but I don't normally have reason to head further up the village past the terrific Lyndhurst Antiques sited on the corner.
However last week whilst visiting a couple of friends who trade in the Antique Centre somebody mentioned Forest Edge Roasting, just around the corner..so offering to buy them hot drinks, I popped around the corner..just 3 or 4 doors up... and there indeed it was.
Not sure if I had opened the right door, (it looking for all the world like an entrance to one of the flats above), a good-looking, well laid out & spotlessly clean, coffee bar met my eyes, with several comfy-looking nooks in which to sit... and in the far corner, a small wee business-like area where, I was told, the owner actually roasts the coffee beans..so you can't get much fresher than that!.
The delightful young lady behind the counter was very welcoming and appeared to know well the specific coffee order that I was putting in for my two friends..and for me, well I opted for a hot chocolate.
Probably a sacrilegious thing for me to order in a 'proper' coffee house', but she was very happy with my order and so, thankfully, I got my 'rare treat'!
On a cold morning, I am so glad I stuck to my guns and ordered my favoured hot-choccie as it was just superb..and was even more pleased that I ordered their large option..for though in my experience of ordering take-out drinks, hot chocolate is an easy drink to get wrong: too thick or too thin, too sweet or not sweet enough..luke- warm or mouth-burningly hot....however Forest Edge Roasting's offering was spot-on and just mouth-watering....
....and my two pals also gave the thumbs up to their coffees as well!
So if you ever find yourself down in Lyndhurst, (you may have popped in to view the famous Ferrari garage down at the bottom of the village or you are perhaps heading up to see Alice Liddell's grave...the inspiration for Lewis Carroll's 'Alice Through The Looking Glass'... in the Churchyard of St Michael & All Angels Church at the top end of Lyndhurst), make sure you find time to you pop into Forest Edge Roasting, ( at the top of the village on the right-hand side), for cuppa..either in or as a take-out..!
Here you'll get a wonderful welcome, a cracking hot drink...and you'll also be helping another hard-working, small local business compete with the major high street chains in these times of tough trading! 👍
