Penceunant Isaf Tea Rooms

Llanberis, Gwynedd
17/06/2019: 14 of us descended on this fab little tea room, first thing on Saturday morning after a very cold and wet midnight trek to Snowdons Summit.
17/06/2019: Stumbled across the Rosie Cider sign at 8.20pm, left at 9 after Steffan very kindly and enthusiastically gave us all the visitor information and recommendations all of which we undertook the following day. Went back again this evening to take my parents and he was again as exceptionally helpful offering guidance to all weary climbers. Steffan is so knowledgeable and an excellent host, very cheerful and thoughtful. A must place to visit even if you are not climbing Snowdon, just call in for a cuppa piece of cake and a chat. The fire was alight such and welcoming sight.

Bistro Bermo

Abermaw, Gwynedd, 20-30£
15/06/2019: A lovely little Bistro space of around 6 tables makes this place quite intimate but not confined.
05/06/2019: We have been coming to this area for over a decade several times a year and have walked past this unassuming little restaurant tucked in between two shop fronts on a daily basis. Thought we would give it a try for somewhere different and last night we all eat the best food we have ever eaten in this area Sublime. Highly recommend sea bass, ribeye and rack of lamb. A family run restaurant which provides locally sourced food cooked to perfection. Staff attentive but not hovering Very small restaurant so need to book in advance as approx only 16 covers will definitely return and have already recommended to friends in the area

Blas Restaurant at Twr y Felin

St. David's, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
17/06/2019: Twr Y Felin is an anachronism - though none the worse for that. An ultra fashionable hotel/restaurant with many modern oil paintings and a fabulous revamp of an old favourite in St Davids. More suited to Soho than drizzling Pembrokeshire coast. Staff were (over) attentive and very friendly.
01/06/2019: On the way to a Michelin star I feel, service is good, attentive but not overly.

Aberystwyth Rheidol, Ceredigion, <20£
03/06/2019: 5 ladies from Hereford dined here on fri 17th May. We arrived by taxi from Borth in our floral headbands. We had travelled up from Hereford for the weekend on an annual trip.
31/05/2019: Called for breakfast at 11.20 - restaurant near empty .Told it was too late for breakfast despite advertised time of 11.30 . I guess the prepared meals were the staff breakfast ! Shame as last visit was outstanding hence why three stars still

Y Polyn

Llanddarog, Carmarthenshire, 30-45£
11/06/2019: Went this evening with a friend for an overdue catch up. Had heard may great things and it didn't disappoint. The fresh bread is lovely. Struggled to choose from the menu as it all sounded so good. Ended up having the scotch egg to start and duck for main. As full as I was I had to try the chocolate mousse. It was all so good. One of my best meals in a long time! Duck cooked to perfection and the tastiest veg! Can't wait to go back! If I did have to make a tiny criticism it would be that the extra £10 to add dessert is a little steep in my opinion, but when you really enjoy your meal you can easily overlook that.
08/06/2019: Super restaurant for couples, families and groups of friends to celebrate any occasion. The food is locally sourced and executed very well. Homemade bread is delicious leaving you wishing for more! All courses are delightful and there is a good selection on offer for all tastes. Staff are friendly, accommodating and attentive. Ambience and atmosphere here is perfect and not pretentious at all like some fine dining restaurants, so you feel very relaxed and chilled. Looking forward to our next visit.

On the Hill

Ruthin, Denbighshire
17/06/2019: Was staying in Ruthin while going to Chester zoo. Booked this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews and wasn’t disappointed food and drinks were lovely. Couldn’t complain regarding service and food. Would 100% say this is a place to have a meal if your staying in Ruthin. I had my 19 month daughter with me and there made her fish meal that wasn’t on the
17/06/2019: The best meal we've found in North Wales!

Blas at Fronlas

Newport, Pembrokeshire, 20-30£
17/06/2019: After a fortnight of beige food whilst walking the Pembrokeshire coast path, it was a pleasure to have excellent fresh colourful tasty food served by friendly staff. well done.
12/06/2019: Hiking the Pembrokeshire Coast Trail. I arrived at 14:00 in Newport P. Because I planned too late the only accommodation I could book was the YHA. Nothing wrong with that but it only opens at I ended up at this place. The lady or owner got my attention immediately and I ate 3 orders with liqueur as final. When she heard from me I was late with bookings and ended up in the YHA that still was closed, she siad, I have rooms too. A lot of trust was given to me. Feels very welcome. So, I write this review in one of their room. Great value too! (send an e-mail to the YHA I didn't make it and do not want refund).

Y Sgwar

Porthmadog-Tremadog, Gwynedd
17/06/2019: We visited for my wifes birthday meal and had a great experience. Fantastic local food, great range on the menu and lovely setting. Top marks
16/06/2019: The place was bustling - no music, just the happy chatter and thrum of contented customers, enthusiastic staff and the kitchen door wafting wonderful smells about the place. I was in a seafood mood and had the scallops with pork belly, both perfectly cooked, followed by the cod which had the most pristine, white and delicate flesh I have ever eaten with a rich but not overwhelming lobster bisque and crispy crayfish. Then a suuuuper good sticky toffee. My partner had the halloumi salad which, to be fair, you can't really mess up but was served with a tasty homemade chilli relish. He had the pork belly and garlic mash, which he said could have been a little more garlic-y. Pork belly fell apart. Unreal food, perfectly timed and executed service and everything running like a well oiled machine. This place is for anniversaries, friends you haven't seen for a decade or just any night of the week. Thank you chef, your food is divine and thank you to the whole team, your service and style is impeccable. DEFINITELY deserving of its five star rating.

Yr Hen Fecws Restaurant

Porthmadog West, Gwynedd, 30-45£
15/06/2019: Sizeable guest house with quite a large restaurant which is open to non residents. Unfortunately the restaurant closes on Mondays and Tuesdays so we were unable to try their evening meal offering. However, the room was comfortable if a little on the small side, with hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities plus a small flat screen TV. We opted for a double bed which I found smaller in width than I expected, but this is probably because I’m not used to normal doubles, and the en-suite was quite snug but well equipped. The breakfast, which was cooked to order, was excellent. A small area at the rear of the establishment was good enough to park a number of cars but if full there is a nearby public car park. The narrow gauge rail station for journeys to Blaenau-Ffestiniog and Caernarfon is a short walk away as is the main shopping street which you can see from the front of the guest house.
13/06/2019: Perfect steak and great roast lamb in our order. All garnished with seasonal veggies in a nice way. Serving local beer as well

The Brewery Inn Cosheston

Lamphey, Pembrokeshire
15/06/2019: I booked a table for Sunday lunch a week in advance as it was my husband’s 50th birthday. We received a warm welcome by one of the co-owners (I think!) who even went to the trouble of popping a folded beer mat under the table leg as we sat down so that we wouldn’t have a wobbly table. Service was swift and friendly and the birthday boy raved about the Lemontime craft beer which was served him (brewed in Llantisant). Food was delicious especially the creamy garlic mushrooms on toast (starter) and what we particularly enjoyed was the option to have a Sunday roast “trio” - great for the indecisives like us! We were too full for individual desserts so shared an absolutely delicious rum barti sundae with rum and raisin ice cream, fresh cream and meringue. So nice to see rum and raisin ice cream on a menu! The pub is charmingly decorated and spotlessly clean. Cannot wait to go back and sample an evening menu. Top marks! Thank you for making my husbands birthday a special one!
13/06/2019: Nice surroundings, excellent food and sensibly priced. Recommended to us and definitely worth a visit

Carlo's Restaurant

Craig-y-Don, Conwy
16/06/2019: My husband and I stumbled upon Carlos down a little quiet back street behind the front. Having just arrived in Llandudno and really hungry we needed food, it was around 9pm on a Saturday evening and we hadn’t booked anywhere. The restaurant was busy and people were waiting to be seated so it didn’t look promising!
12/06/2019: Just been to Carlos, excellent meal. Minestrone soup lovely, had vegetarian penne (though not a veggie) and side salad ending with cappuccino.

Coastal Cafe

Moelfre, Isle of Anglesey
12/06/2019: We were staying around 15 mins away and googled sit in chippys. Found this diamond, exactly how I wanted it to be. Great food, down to earth service, proper fish and chip shop. When we visit again we will certainly be back.
07/06/2019: This was a return visit for us after 12 months and we were pleased to find that the fish and chips were just as fantastic as last year. Crispy thin batter, piping hot fish perfect chips and very generous portions. It's perhaps as well we live 150 miles away or our waistlines would be enormous.

Fforest Pizza Tipi

Aberteifi/Cardigan-Teifi, Ceredigion, <20£
09/06/2019: Visited here on a very wet & windy Friday night.
04/06/2019: Super chilled atmosphere with amazing food. Staff were really friendly and made us feel very welcome. Pizza was a tad expensive but totally worth it. Would highly recommend

Tenby: South, Pembrokeshire
15/06/2019: Found on trip adviser as in Tenby for a few days, this is an absolute gem! We had the scallops and mushroom terrane to start. Scallops were beautifully cooked and tasted wonderful. The mushroom terrine I would give a miss as the texture wasn’t great and it seemed to come straight from the fridge when maybe room temp would have suited it better. That’s personal taste though. The venison was fantastic (served medium not medium rare which for the demotion to 4/5) and my partner had the beef which was wolfed down. Cheese platter was perhaps not the most interesting but sized correctly with huge grapes. We also had the Chantilly Meringue which was lovely.
14/06/2019: My husband and I had a lovely meal here, really good size portion. Scallops and pate starters lovely followed by welsh rack lamb and the biggest serving of salmon with a very nice sauce.

Amelies Cafe Restaurant

Conwy, Conwy
16/06/2019: My husband & I recently had lunch in this restaurant whilst visiting Conwy. It was recommended in the Rough Guide book on Wales. Good choice of different meals suitable for a light lunch. Service was friendly & efficient.
14/06/2019: This place is a gem. We took shelter here an a rainy day and so pleased we did. Warm welcoming staff who were good with our toddler. We ordered breakfast and it was just fab. Really delicious. The building itself is really beautiful.
