Worth calling in but check when open first. The fishpie and the cheese & onion pie are very good. Unusual fruity salad. Try their hot chocolate - ott marshmallows & chocolate accompaniments. Very friendly, down to earth seaside cafe, maybe a bit pricey & the helpings could be a little smaller with a price cut for the lunch market as its not for dinner. We all enjoyed going there & what was on offer & the staff are lovely.

I visit the Wavecrest every week for food which is great value for money. All home cooked. The staff are great , even though it may appear that quite a few are young you will not find better customer service. I have been to quite a few establishments with older staff who cannot come close to these young people, nothing is to much trouble. I read the previous comment and don’t recognise the experience of the scones as the cream is fresh double whipped cream not squirty cream ? . Why would you put butter on a scone with fresh cream?. If I had a problem I would speak to them about it rather than putting a review on here. My only criticism is that when it gets busy customers block the doorway and the waiting on staff cannot get out with hot food/drinks. I am surprised that there has not been an incident. Let’s be sensible and keep the doorway clear so staff can get in and out and everyone is safe . People are not going to pinch your space in the queue if you keep the door way clear !. Great place in a beautiful location shame it is not open all year .

The cafe is in a spectacular position and you could certainly watch the world go by in their garden. They've got indoor seating, but we picked the outdoor area. It's a busy place and parking can be a challenge, but we arrived at 10 am to walk the coastal path. So, the carpark was empty. The cafe opens at midday and there is always a queue, but don't let that put you off. We ordered a ham baguette (no butter) and a prawn baguette. It was lovely and fresh, yes you've got to wait, but it's made for you and they do listen (about the butter). Just nice to have a great cafe in a wonderful location.

Disappointing ! We have been here a few times and it has always been good, however unfortunately today was very disappointing. Two baguettes, two Scones, a diet coke and a Coffee (£35) Very poor scones, (nicely presented) they were dry and had a strange consistency, the cream was squirty cream not traditional Clotted Cream ! No butter ! so we asked for butter, and were questioned, “why would you want butter, you have cream” The lady brought us some “butter” however it was not butter, but a butter substitute, similar to Margarine, (not good) Such a shame ! It looks like they are cutting corners to increase profit margins.

Simply Scrummy ! What a fantastic place to visit after paddling in the sea. Staff were super friendly and helpful. We visited today to find the place heaving with people and despite being exceedingly busy, we were served quickly. My husband had a baguette, the biggest ever and full of filling, I had the prawn platter; it was the best plate of food I have ever had. The salad was full of interesting ingredients and the portion of prawns enormous. The chips were perfect and as for the basil dressing - Delicious. 5 Star PLUS.

Having seen photos of the scones thought we should give it a go as we were staying just up the road. We were not disappointed! They really are as good as the image suggests. We had a cottage nearby and were able to visit several times during our stay , having lunch twice and desserts/ ice cream on several other occasions. We were very impressed each time both with the quality and quantity of the food. All the dishes we had were excellent and the homemade salad dressing deserves a particular mention as it was absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend a visit, even though it is a little out of the way the beach is also well worth the journey.

Stopped by on a windy day, we had baguette, balm, curry and scones. Staff were really friendly. Food was really good but let down by the chickpea and lentil curry. The rice that accompanied the curry had clearly come from a microwaveable packet and what I’m pretty sure was aubergine wasn’t cooked making it crunchy still. Please don’t be put off by the curry, a really nice overall cafe experience and as above friendly staff.

This is a great cafe in a fantastic location at Church Bay. I've been twice recently and the food has been excellent both times - freshly prepared and very tasty. My partner is coeliac and there is a limited, but good choice of GF options (including more than one cake!!). The scones are lovely (though I'm not keen on cream so I had one with butter and jam), as are all the cakes we've tried. Staff are very friendly and helpful. All in all an excellent place for lunch or a snack/cake, it's just a shame they close soon for the winter!

We stumbled on this cafe while on a drive around Anglesea, what a gem of a place with such a cool vibe. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming, the owner was tending to his amazing flower baskets and super chatty, telling us all about his place and the area. My hubby already had his eye on the scones that he had seen someone else order. Unfortunately, he was too late, they had all been sold. While ordering for the rest of our family, a member of staff rushed out and said she would make him one. He was so chuffed. It was a great pit stop, we all had cake (home made and mashousive),ice cream, beer and soft drinks. We stayed a while chatting to other customers sitting outside as we had our dog with us. They closed up shop, but not before giving my children more ice cream on the house. Such a refreshing, friendly place to stop for a bite to eat, a drink and enjoy the environment. Go now before everyone else discovers it!

We spent a socially distanced family afternoon on the beach with six adults and 5 children between 2 and 12 years old. We were lucky to find the cafe still open when we left the beach as it was a few minutes before 5. The cafe had set up a serving window and there was a one-way queuing system set up outside. Fortunately, the large picnic garden opposite allowed for us to find tables where we could spread out.Parking had been difficult when we arrived at Church Bay and the cafe had been busy all afternoon. It was with great delight that we were greeted by such friendly and enthusiastic staff at such a late hour in what must have been quite a long shift. The young man serving was really patient as the order was changed several times as the children changed their minds on what they wanted. They must have a huge kitchen store in the cafe because they were still able to muster up several portions of chips, hot chocolates, the largest and freshest cream scones we've ever come across and a variety of other hot drinks and snacks. The Cafe is tucked out of the way, so I can't imagine receiving fresh food orders during the Covid Pandemic is easy for them.We had expected to have been told they were closing as we left the beach in our large group but our experience of the great staff, the best service we've encountered in a longtime and the excellent food mean's we'll definitely be back.

Despite there being plenty of people around on such a sunny warm day, the service was excellent. We queued at the coloured buckets and spades, set out for social distancing, which I think are a great idea especially for children while queuing with their parents by keep moving up to the next set of coloured buckets. The queue moved quickly enough, we were served by a very friendly member of staff who you could quite clearly see was adhering to covid rules. We paid by card and enjoyed our ice cream and drink while looking at the lovely view. Next time we visit we will try the food, which I am sure will be lovely. A great little place that does delicious Jersey icecream!

We had spent the afternoon on the beach. We needed warming up with 15 minutes to close, the cafe served us as if we were the first customers of the day. We had an amazingly delicious scone, generous in size, cream and strawberries. The hot chocolates were met with delight. My tea hit just the spot. The service was second to none. Can’t recommend this cafe enough (although would like to keep it our little secret). Thank you for adding to our fantastic day.

Staying a few minutes drive away, thought we would pop in for a takeaway. So pleased we did, a stunning fish pie, a brilliant house salad. Great chunky soup and lovely brisket bap. So kind and friendly too!

We queued up for a while for a takeout sandwich, soup and two portions of chips (cafe was closed due to COVID 19). We were second in the queue, finally, and a lady came out and told everyone they were sold out of chips. This was very disappointing as we had being looking forward to them. I mean out of all food most people want chips. They shouldn’t have ran out of chips at lunch time. I understand they were busy but surely they should be prepared for this. Anyway, we waited for our sandwich and soup. It took at least hour an hour for the food to arrive. The sandwich was very disappointing as well. Other sandwiches had gone past with big salads and crisps. We got the sandwich and a tomato. No salad. No crisps. So the soup... even worse. It was so thick it looked like a heap of squashed vegetables in a pot. I have never seen anything like this.So we spent £13 on a sandwich with too much filling and a very chunky soup. No crisps, bread with soup, or salad. A child could have done better. We ended up just eating our picnic we had brought in the lovely view. As we left the chips arrived, typical.

We came upon this place by mistake and it was so good we went back again the next day - sadly our last day in Anglesey. The food here is sensational, and the service so charming and lovely. It's low key in the very best, most sophisticated way, with top notch food, low prices, and the best holiday atmosphere.Great spot for lunch above Church Bay, and streets ahead of all local competition (although we liked the Black Lion too).Have the fish pie, the cheesy chips, the lentil curry, the chocolate fudge cake - it's all so good. And thank god it has a licence - if you can't drink at lunchtime on holiday after months of lockdown, when can you? My children are furious we can't go again tomorrow but we have to go home.Thank you Wavecrest Cafe for two really great lunches - we will be back!

We have been eating and drinking at the beautiful wave crest regularly for nearly 10 years. This family run business are the friendliest people you could ever meet who provide the most wonderful food, drinks and cakes. The cheese and onion pie is fantastic and all the other main dishes and sandwiches are delicious. The scones are amazing especially with a lovely pot of tea. We also like the breakfast rolls in the morning before heading down to the beach. The location is superb adjacent to the beautiful church bay beach. Highly recommended

We had arrived at our hotel earlier than expected and hoped that we would be able to get a snack or sandwich, but were politely told that food wasn’t served during the day. However we were directed to Blueberries in the town. We had to pay £1 to park the car as this was also where a market was held each Saturday. The menu was really quite extensive including a selection of salads, paninies, salads, ice creams, and Welsh cakes. There was also a selection of teas and coffees.

Going on the strength of other reviews, we booked a table in the dog friendly area of The Crown. Having had and a 2 hour walk beforehand, a well deserved refuelling stop. Quite chilly in that area of the pub. Cheap lunch menu. Specials board more expensive. We had Scampi & fries, small battered cod & chips. Both came with peas. I had much higher expectations and was disappointed in the portion size(5 scampi pieces). Would consider giving it another try sometime, go in the evening and dine in the restaurant area. Pay the more expensive dinner prices, in the hope that the food would not be cooked from frozen and the portion sizes would be satisfying.
