Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, 20-30£
22/11/2020: After trying to hunt down a Deli with a café and finding that the café no longer exists, the guy there kindly told us about Medina. Although open six years it's not a place we'd come across before. We called in on a lunchtime and chose the Kofta and fishcakes. There were a large amount of innovative salads to accompany the meal and both meals were full of flavour. We will certainly keep it in mind for on our next visit to Aber.
18/11/2020: We called in to Medina on spec for a light lunch on our way to N Wales on a wet and windy Wednesday in November. We were lucky enough to get the last free table. The staff were prompt and efficient, and not overbearing. The restaurant is perfectly Covid safe, with loads of room between tables. The room is huge with high ceilings and I guess it feels very Mediterranean in the summer. We had breads, olive oil, za'atar, beetroot hummus, baba ganoush, falafel and some flatbread with chili jam and sour cream plus a couple of Sicilian lemonades. Very tasty, promptly served, with attention to detail (the flat breads were served in paper bags to keep them warm and moist). £26 excluding service for 2.All tables were full so probably worth booking. We saw a number of tables turned over whilst we were there. This is clearly a popular place. The rest of the menu looked terrific and we would definitely go back.

Caffi Kiki

Bowydd and Rhiw, Gwynedd
10/10/2020: We had such a fab time for dinner here. You can watch the sunset over the lake. The food was brilliant and the service was so warm and friendly. We really can't wait to go back again soon.We ate amazing whitebait and beautiful green beans in wine for starter. For main course we had a great moussaka and THE WORLD"S MOST AMAZING burger that was perfectly cooked and stuffed with feta, with black garlic mayo. INCREDIBLE. Really generous portions, fair prices and a lovely atmosphere. Can't recommend it highly enough!
29/09/2020: Having read the reviews we booked a table for the night of 19th September. We were very warmly welcomed and the friendly service continued all evening. Having looked at the menu there was so much that we wanted to try so asked if the chef could do a meze for us. This wasn’t a problem and we were presented with a delicious selection of gorgeous Greek food. It was by far the best meal we had all weekend so if you are in North Wales head here you will not be disappointed. Thank you for a great evening

Santiago's Tapas

Cathays, Cardiff
06/12/2020: My boyfriend booked Santiago's on 30th Nov in Whitchurch for my birthday meal at 14:30 on the 6th December. When we arrived the staff were mopping the floors and said they were closed. When we explained that we had a reservation the bar man said he was sorry that we had not been informed. Due to current restrictions we could not find any other restaurant that had space left so we ended up just going home. I understand that things are difficult in the hospitality industry at the moment but the least we deserved was a phone call to let us know the reservation was cancelled. Extremely disappointed.
02/12/2020: It’s a really cute little restaurant with lovely booth style tables. Super traditional with an open kitchen. The tapas is so authentic and absolutely delicious. Best I’ve ever had in this country (and in a few places in Spain). The portions are much bigger than regular tapas and everything is cooked fresh and comes to your table as it’s ready which I love. Great selection of drinks especially the Spanish beers on tap. The staff are lovely, very friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back

The Walnut Tree Inn

Mardy, Monmouthshire
05/12/2020: Fantastic lunch (again...second of this year) at what must be one of the best dining venues in the UK. Coped brilliantly with the nonsensical government restrictions to deliver a faultless set lunch accompanied by some great drinks and relaxed, professional service.
05/12/2020: Been coming here for past 11 years and felt on our last 2 visits it had lost its mojo, but our visit on the 3rd December certainly impressed and we had an excellent evening. Staff provided tip top service, the cocktails were fab and the wine list provided lots of choice. We thought the Alsace was a perfect match for the John Dory (the stand out dish of the evening) and the sweetbreads and soufflé for starters great. Pork main didn’t mention black pudding accompaniment. Only criticism was the cheese, as had a better selection previously and served too cold. Yes more expensive than other restaurants in the area but haven’t been out much this year!

Criccieth, Gwynedd, 20-30£
27/09/2020: Tir a Mor was a great find. Absolutely superb breakfast and good service. We went during Covid so it was outside seating only, but the weather made this a perfect option.
26/09/2020: Looked on Tripadvisor for places to eat breakfast in Criccieth. Tir a Mor was highly recommended so we went there. Excellent food and service. Would certainly recommend it.

Porthcawl West Central, Bridgend
07/12/2020: Really enjoyed this, excellent food, great ambiance, great value for money too, will definitely be visiting again
25/09/2020: Visited Isabella’s on the 5th of September and it was fantastic again. This was the fourth time that I’ve eaten here and ever time has been wonderful. Love the price, food and staff who are very polite, friendly and very helpful. The food we all had was wonderfully cooked and delicious. The three of us had a three course afternoon lunch and a drink each and was pleasantly surprised for the value for money which was just over £20 each. Every time I visit Porthcawl I always try and spoil my self with a visit to Isabella’s.. xx

Mezza Luna

Plasnewydd, Cardiff, 20-30£
20/11/2020: Beautifully decorated and the food was very good! The portions were perfectly sized and the meal was really flavoursome and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!

Wrights independent food emporium

Llanfihangel Aberbythych, Carmarthenshire
01/12/2020: Really high quality ingredients - many of them local. Love the welsh rarebit, pork cubanos sandwiches, pecan tart......... Service v friendly and knowledgeable. coffee's great as well.....
26/11/2020: Despite all the current obstacles, Wrights continue to provide interesting and tasty fare albeit a limited menu due to kitchen staff restrictions. It remains well worth a visit (remember to book first) The smoked haddock chowder and mutton stew were superb. Hats off to Wrights.

Med Delight

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion, <20£
14/11/2020: I enjoyed a meal at Med delight while visiting my brother in Aberystwyth and we all had a wonderful time.We ordered starters and mains. There seemed to be something for everyone, offering vegetarian, meat and fish based dishes. As a pescatarian I felt spoilt for choice! The restaurant had a lovely feel to it, medium sized and not over crowded. The staff were all very polite and friendly and our drinks and meals were served promptly everytime.I will definitely stop by again on my next visit.
14/11/2020: Service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious! Couldn't fault it. Will definitely come back next time we visit Aberystwyth!

The Riverside Wine Bar

St. Mary's, Monmouthshire
13/10/2020: We went here during restrictions. So outside service only - a very interesting and tasty tapas selection. and what a beautiful place to sit. Dog friendly Staff friendly. There were 6 of us so we pretty much ordered all the tapas. All of it was good.
17/09/2020: Outdoor seating, some undercover. Good menu and range of drinks. The staff are friendly and efficient. Great views of the river.

Aberystwyth Canol/Central, Ceredigion

Turkish Kitchen

Castle, Swansea
04/10/2020: I had the most delicious calamari here. The staff are very attentive and generous as they give you gratuitous bread and salad which is gorgeous. I had a starter and a main meal which was too much for me however the lovely staff put my food in a takeaway bag for me to take home. I would definitely recommend this eatery for delicious and reasonable food with friendly staff.
26/09/2020: We had a lovely dinner at the Turkish Kitchen. Everything was excellent from the service to every dish. The depth of flavours were fantastic. Highly recommended!!

La Mancha Restaurant

Neath North, Neath Port Talbot, 30-45£
18/10/2020: I visited Spirit ‘n’ Spice with my mum on a Saturday night. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and well laid out to give diners plenty of space. We fancied something a little different so decided to order entirely off the Indian tapas menu, so we could try a lot of smaller dishes. Everything was amazing, in particular the honey lollipops and chicken delicious, with plenty of Naan to mop up the sauces! Such a different experience from your standard Indian restaurant. Staff were also very attentive, particularly with my allergies. Loved it and will be back!!
10/10/2020: Having wanted to come here for so long, I booked a table. Greeted nicely, offered sanitiser and shown to our table.I had seen online that they did lamb kholapuri, so I asked if they could do a chicken kholapuri and was told no. That made me think that the food was not cooked freshly! We asked for the wine list, they didn't have one. Waitress brought over two bottles of reds to show my husband. They were warm. Because they had been kept under the lights on a shelf. That is not going to be good for red wine!! She offered to bring some from a different shelf not so near the lights. We ordered poppadoms and chutney tray. It was the worst chutney tray ever!!! We paid. And left.

The Corner House

Cathays, Cardiff
15/12/2020: Came here with my partner for breakfast recently and the atmosphere inside is lovely, very cosy and friendly staff. Food is delicious lots of veggie options and came out hot and fast too. Great location in the city centre so would definitely recommend 😊
15/12/2020: Stunning food and excellent service! Would highly recommend the fish cakes! One of my favourite spots in cardiff!
