Da Mara

Penylan, Cardiff, <20£
02/09/2020: This review is long- overdue but my husband and I ate here last year and we hope to return again. I recall we both had pizzas which were lovely and huge. The restaurant was super busy that night so service was a little slow and I had to chase up our order a few times- however it was worth it when it came and the atmosphere was good and lively. The decor is also really nice and has a stron Italian vibe,
28/08/2020: Fantastic takeaway pizza tonight. Looking forward to the restaurant reopening to sit in in September.

Elgano Italian Restaurant

Riverside, Cardiff
28/08/2020: Had a great wonderful family meal here this evening, too notch service as always, great food.. my favourite restaurant in Cardiff at the moment! Truly splendid! Highly recommend this diamond
26/08/2020: Our favourite Italian place! Always great food and even better service. We’ve been regulars since it opened and have not had one disappointing visit. Love it here

Cadnant, Isle of Anglesey, 20-30£
28/08/2020: Booking is really essential for this location. The view across the Strait is fabulous. Excellent menu with daily specials available; cakes and coffee/tea if you don’t want a meal.
27/08/2020: Great meal in a great location. The views from the restaurant are lovely. The restaurant has a relaxed, friendly, beach vibe. We had starters, mains and desserts and you couldn't fault any of it, there is a great selection on their "reduced menu". The waiting staff were great and kept checking in with us. Will definitely be returning when back in Wales!

West Cross, Swansea
06/09/2020: Always my number one place to go for ice cream, we went yesterday ordered my favourite then notice they had ice tea on the menu..... what a disappointment I was t at the table when out order was brought over if I had been I would have sent my drink back! When you see ice tea on the menu you expect just that not a glass of tap water with a few Ice cubes with a fruit infusion tea bag especially for £2.50 it wasn’t even cold water it was like room temperature think they need to rethink that one but as I say the ice cream is always a winner
03/09/2020: Three different pastas, all excellent, and proper cappuccinos. It was busy but service was fast and friendly. Every covid precaution had been taken, especially the loos.

Funky's Bar & Grill

Mostyn, Conwy
19/08/2020: The service was terrible no Organization at all, we were out with friends. It took 25 minutes to actually get a drink, we had three different members of staff come to our table to ask about food and drink orders ! We asked for WiFi as it clearly stated on the posters that there was free WiFi available, asked for a cocktail menu put there was a mixology Poster that we were mean’t to look at but apparently that wasn’t the correct one, we were told to look on Facebook with there none existent WiFi !! Then got given a handwritten one with no prices WHAT IS THIS PLACE

Nags Head

Rossett, Wrexham, >100£
12/09/2020: Ate here with friends on a Saturday evening. Terribly disappointing. We used to love this place but it started going downhill a couple of years ago. Before then you had to book well in advance to have any hope of a table. I believe there may be new owners now which is why we came. We hoped it had got better, if anything it’s worse. The restaurant appears to be run by two clueless teenagers. Table unclean - we had to ask for it to be wiped down. Covid safety? Cutlery and napkins we asked for just dropped onto the table. Everything had to be asked for, down to a pepper pot. Sauces in paper pots. Food and drinks very average. Three of our table ordered burgers. We weren’t asked how we wanted them cooked and they all came rare. Okay if you like rare meat but one of our party didn’t. Service appalling and untrained in every respect! No wine list, we were offered wine verbally which was described generically. Not surprised the dining area was so empty. We won’t be going again. I would normally say something at the table but it was clear there was no one who would understand our complaints. It was so bad it was almost funny! This is a very attractive pub in a great location. If it was properly run it should be packed like it used to be even in the current crisis. It’s a shame but I won’t be surprised to see it closed quite soon.
02/09/2020: We booked here solely because of trip advisor, we were staying at the nearby Grosvenor hotel. Staff were helpful and pleasant. I ordered duck, beef noodles, garlic mushrooms and chips and my son had mozzarella sticks and pizza. All dishes were tasty and quick to be served. For desert my son had ice cream and I had an tropical Eaton mess, the mess let the meal down. As a whole a lovely night in a pleasant local pub.

The Bunch of Grapes

Cenarth, Carmarthenshire, 20-30£
26/09/2020: Best kind of pub-clean, excellent food, good service and well signposted as to what was expected for covid situation. Not over the top either as some places are with the new rules. Would recommend highly. Am sorry I don't live close enough to use as a local.
24/09/2020: the welcome was warm and friendly and the food was of a very high standard and very good value for money we had too make it our regular place to eat during our stay

Machynlleth, Powys
23/08/2020: We had welsh lamb and pork loin, both were stunning! All the food including mushroom Stilton starter was very good, but the portions weren’t very big. Lovely inside with lots of character. However we weren’t made to feel very welcome. When our waitress bought the second lot of our food, I asked her if I could please have some mayonnaise, to which she replied sarcastically ‘why didn’t you ask me before!?’ And waved her arms around. Also my toddler was very briefly running around our table, which I assumed would be fine as they seated us in a completely empty side room and he wasn’t bothering anybody at all. Yet a waitress felt the need to come in and just stare at us, then proceeded to check all the ornaments were still in place. All of them were totally out of his reach and he hadn’t even tried to touch anything anyway! He wasn’t making any noise. Bartender was unfriendly when my partner tried to make polite conversation about the local beer he tried being delicious. Staff abit snooty but food 10/10, unfortunately we would not return.

Domino's Pizza

Llantarnam, Torfaen
26/05/2020: Ordered on the app. More pizzas available than a month ago. Pizzas were with us within half an hour. Both excellent quality. Would recommend.

Crust Pizzeria

Abersoch,Llanengan, Gwynedd
27/08/2020: Terrible service!! I just went to Crust to buy dinner. I went in to the shop and tried to order and they apologised because the card machine was broken but said I could walk to the cash point 15 mins away. I did that and on the way realised I should call and order so the food was ready to collect when I got back. I called no more than a few mins after leaving the shop and they told me they had sold out of food and had been sold out for the past three hours. Which seems fairly ridiculous considering. I’d already waited in queue of people ordering food before discovering the card machine was broken. So they’d sent me walking off in the rain for no reason. Avoid.
21/08/2020: Fantastic, authentic, tasty take-away pizzas. We tried 4 different flavours and all were excellent - the seafood one was especially good. Delicious and well worth ordering ahead for.Would definitely suggest calling early in the day to book your pizzas for the evening - when we went to pick up at 7 they were turning customers away who wanted to place an order then.Few restaurants in Abersoch are offering more than a take-away service at the moment and those where you can eat-in are all booked up days in advance (you have been warned!) eating out spontaneously is not a thing anywhere around here this summer!

The Godfrey Morgan

Victoria, Newport
09/09/2020: Weatherspoons is Weatherspoons in terms of food and prices etc but its the staff at this one that make all the difference. Friendly, helpful, kind and well managed! Im not keen on the political or ethical standing of the senior leaders of the corporation but I still like this pub and these people.
18/08/2020: Enjoyed a lovely lunch today. Eat out scheme was amazing too! Ordered two mixed grills and the signature steak with two alcohol drinks and a soft drink for £14! Lovely food and staff were excellent. Will return.

The New Three Mariners Inn

Laugharne Township, Carmarthenshire

Stone Rock Pizza

St. Mary's, Monmouthshire
08/09/2020: Chepstow is a lovely little Town, and decided for a road trip from Cwmbran,as my niece lives near Chepstow, and had the night previously, been to the restaurant and recommended it.Turned up and waited around, for about five minutes, didn't know where the guy dissapeared, shown to table, seemed nice atmospher. The staff young lady waitress was very lovely.Ordered, drinks which,if your paying 4.pound plus for Italian beer, please get rid of cheap and nasty, thick IKEA,1pound glasses, and serve it like in Italy in Moretti, ones, the wine,a large was 8.50..oh my days, that stung, the drinks are vastly overpriced. The pizza was very nice, I had the Italian style Pizza, but was quite lacking prawns and pepperoni. Value for money,The Bush in Cwmbran, does woodfired, from 7.50,and are stunning, the Lemon dessert was ok,they said the Chef had just put this on menu, the lady opposite recommend it,so we shared, but when the lovely waitress asked,I did say, constructive criticism, the base was too thick, and the lemon topping, needs to be thicker, the ice cream was nice.It would be nice to know,if the produce us local, like the ice cream, etc, the cheeses state, but a little tad more info.Maybe, put some Italian Music, all in all night night out,but expensive for what we had
04/09/2020: Food amazing. Lovely friendly staff. The only downside was that the toilet facilities were poor. It was clean but there was a cracked toilet seat and tired decor.

Pizza Hut Swansea

Bonymaen, Swansea
04/09/2020: DO NOT GO HERE! Arriving there the manager saw us and greeted us at the door waiting for seven minutes! with the restaurant running at 50% capacity! We sat down and he was colder than a dead fish! I love my thin pizza and simply asked for BBQ sauce instead! He claims because of COVID they can't!!! He is talking to me face to face with no mask touching my mobile phone to order the pizza I want to eat! But because of Covid they cannot do BBQ sauce!!Then we seen the price for lunch at £22!!!! This is a Mcdonalds for Pizzas not Silver service!! Vesuvio is CHEAPER than Pizza Hut!!!This manager was so uninterested and offish and SO SO UNHELPFUL that we walked straight out!
