The best restaurants serving Thai food in East Midlands

Food was excellent! Dropped in here with my parents for dinner, wasn’t expecting much tbh, but boy was I surprised, the food was outstanding! We ordered the mixed starters first and they were decent enough, but the main courses were fabulous! We had red curry with duck (meat was succulent, sauce spicy but not overpoweringly so) , stir fried duck in tamarind sauce, - wonderful, stir fried duck in oyster (we like duck!) wonderful. We washed it down with a very reasonably priced and more than passable bottle of house white (Hardy’s Sauvignon blanc). We were served by Sassi (the owner?) who was a delight. All in all I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant and when I’m next in the area I will definitely be back!

Rang up and ordered a takeaway and was told at the end of my order that they had run out of prawn crackers😳 Collected my order at the allotted time and drove home, approximately 5mins. I opened the bag and the food had leaked all over. The packaging has changed to cardboard boxes which don’t seal. I plated the food up and it looked very different to the usual dishes and the portions were much smaller than usual. I started to eat and the food was cold. I tried to ring the restaurant but it was engaged. I decided to microwave the food and started eating. The red thai curry didn’t taste like it normally does and it consisted of 8 pieces of chicken, 3 small pieces of red pepper, 1 slice of mushroom and copious amounts of bamboo shoots, they made up 90% of the dish. I also had a chicken pad thai which was a much smaller portion and tasted very bitter. The food was average to say the least and nowhere near the normal standard and quality I have grown to love from this restaurant. I ate a few mouthfuls and left the rest. The reason I order a takeaway is because I want a good quality meal cooked by a professional chef who has mastered their craft to make my meal the best tasting it can be using the freshest ingredients available and in return make me want to return again and again, unfortunately this was no better than your average packet mix meal. Very Very disappointed. It seems like the restaurant is trying to cut costs with the new packaging, the bamboo shoot fillers and the much smaller portions. It’s resulting loosing me as a customer as I will no longer be ordering from the Siam Orchid again.

Lovely food and lovely service let down by bland decor and a cold restaurant. Not sure if the heating wasn’t coping or it had not been put on as there were very few people in due to it being a Sunday. A shame as the dishes really were very tasty and there is very easy parking across the road in the carpark.

Absolutely amazing! Abit confusing that the sign is still that of the old owners ‘Boston Spice’ but the food was unreal. So reasonably priced as well with a 3 course meal each for both of us and alcoholic drinks, all priced just over £50. Customer service was also top notch. If we weren’t just visiting Boston for a mini break for a few days this restaurant would definitely be a regular! Nothing bad to say whatsoever. 100% worth a visit.

We followed the reviews on Tripadvisor and ordered a take away. I found the telephone interaction positive and helpful as I'm not from the area. We got our food but we didn't enjoy it. Mine was a little bland and needed salt and the lamb was tough. My wife's was the same, tough chicken. I guess each kitchen cooks differently and we didn't enjoy it. Clearly others do.

New owners only took over less than a week ago, even so everything, service and food worked well. The menu simple but tasty and friendly staff. Thursday was pizza for £10, a good selection of toppings and a large pizza. The place was very busy. Well supported by locals which is ale]ways a good sign! Would recommend

After visiting Thailand it’s been difficult to find similar flavors, but The Basement is the closest we’ve found to it. Great Thai flavor! We had the Tom kha, pad Thai, green curry, and spring rolls. All were fantastic

Great pub quiz ,good half price when you enter ,only a pound to enter the quiz, wings were amazing, friends loved the pizza, won a drinks voucher

We had a takeaway last night and I was really disappointed. After reading other reviews and the statement of the best one around I was expecting a lot more. I had a chicken tikka massala and I have never known a CTM to be so spicy! There was minimal flavour to it just all spice. The chicken korma as well tasted vile and we couldn't eat it. It wasn't creamy and coconut based at all it was by far the worst I have ever tried. The price is the same for a takeaway or a dine in and I wish I had dined in as I would have sent these dishes back. The cost was higher than I've paid anywhere else and I don't mind if the food quality is spot on but the food quality last night was terrible. We had two pashwari naans and one of them the base was missing and half was totally black burned. Why you would even give it to the customer I do not know. The other dish was OK but still flavours were poor. What a waste of money.

Food is excellent. Service lacked unfortunately. Table of two, one drink brought, starter delivered - had to ask for other drink. Starters delivered - but no plates or cutlery. Eventually plates and cutlery came - but plates felt like they had been stored outside - they were freezing cold. I was also sat by a small door in the wall - possibly a meter cupboard? The draft around the door was bitterly cold - I was freezing. Such a shame that the in house experience was not great, but would definitely order food again - it is excellent

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with this restaurant. While the food remains good, the service has hit an all-time low, and I can no longer recommend this place. First, they advertise one price online but charged more upon delivery, which feels dishonest. The worst part was the customer service. When we called to inquire about the pricing issue, the lady on the phone was rude, shouting over the call and saying, “If you don’t want the food, ask the driver to return it.” This is no way to treat loyal, regular customers. Sadly, after this experience, we won’t be ordering from here again. I hope the management addresses these issues before they lose more of their regulars. Never anyone in the shop . Always close before times listed on there door . Don't rely on a good services.

Worst Thai ever - hardly any meat. Curry’s didn’t turn up with any rice and when I phoned up, the lad on the phone said there was nothing he could do about it!!! Awful!
