Best place for a Chinese around here

I really used to enjoy getting food from here. But they don't take card payments over the phone anymore. It's a shame because alot of people don't carry cash anymore. They will lose customers.

Good quality meat and flavourful & resonable price.

Spring rolls covered in oil, not a tiny bit of oil, I'm taking enough to drown a small dog with, it was inedible with the amount of grease inside it. A Beef Szechuan Style that was not Beef but Chicken instead, this dish was bland and watery, dont know how they managed to do that, quite frankly I'm worried when a chef cannot tell the difference between Beef and Chicken. And finally a Yung Chow fried rice with no shrimps in. 3 out 3, all​ in all a Minus 10, though I'll have to stick with 1 star on Google rating. You have been warned, I wanted was a nice meal, not a heart attack.

Ordered at 5.30 told it would be 30mins. 1.30 mins later still not arrived rang them and was told the driver was new and on his way. Meal arrived cold rang them back and told them wanted a refund and to fetch the food back. Another 30mins rang them again to have phone put down on me. Not gd customer service at all. Offered us £5 off. Will never use again as this isn't the first time this has happened.

This place used to serve really good food but I don't know what has happened but its gone down hill. I'm a wheelchair user and when the say they are disabled friendly that's not completely true. The front door is barley wide enough, it's hard to open.

Moved to the area 3 years ago but I have been using spice and rice flavours superb ribs fantastic and good selection of rice it's the best for a good few miles well done

Excellent Chinese! Went tonight to collect an order and it was probably the best Chinese I've had in a very long time! Nothing was overly greasy and very hearty portions! Absolutely will be having this again!

Love this place,now that it being run properly

We have been getting our takeaway from here for almost 20 years now and now Dom is back the food is great again. Delicious flavours and always served piping hot. Pick up and delivery both available.

I have used this place for 5 years but never again. First we were greeted by a sign saying minimum card payment of £15! Then the food. The Chicken chow mein only had 5 small pieces of chicken in it, then the special curry only had chicken and pork in it, no prawns and no beef. Then the sauce was very very watery. Really put me off. Will be using China City from now on.

Been the local Chinese for about 30 years. Food is flawless with the original boss back in charge. Eminently tasty and very reasonably priced.

shocked! tasteless ! extremely dry! chicken akin to Icelands flash-fozen resealable Bag of corrogated cardboard . made our own gravy so to make both of our different, overpriced meals easier to swallow. while the onions took on a slug type of texture that had been ill prepared and not sweated out 1st. palate/texture between the beansprouts and noodles was unnoticed has they where bland, unseasoned BORING. ! my opinion this this once "better and average" Takeaway has Lost its way in the sea of profit and greed Vs quality and PRIDE.. their loyal repeat customers still pay Top Dollar. so in short . I contacted them by phone to ask if they had A new chef or was something wrong.. Answer was NO was imformed that All was normal and Dunky-Dory. NEVER !!! . and not even A verbal apology of any sort, just A silent A "shrug of the Shoulders" well that's what I was imagining in my angry mind . used this takeaway on many occasions, but quality no longer applies .£££. Not as good as it used to be it's gone right down hill not sure if Dom still owns it but the chips are hard as nails!!

Always good food but have only tried mushroom curry. Sauce especially good as it is not too thick and does not congeal like at some Chinese takeaways by the time you get it home. Good thing is that some things can be bought in smaller portions unlike other Chinese takeaways I've been to. For example small portion of sweet and sour chicken balls. Seven balls and a small pot of sauce for a £1 less at £3-80. Also smaller portion of Singapore chowmein is available at a lower cost. Also small regular and large rice which is useful if you are only ordering for one. Available in boiled rice and egg fried rice. Chips ok too. Not had any other food off their menu except pancake rolls. You get two for the same sort of price other Chinese takeaways charge for one. Didn't think much to the eight little vegetable spring rolls. Not much filling in them.

I'd rate it 0/5 considering that's not an option. Ordered from there recently. Me and two of my friends are in about of diarrhoea one has acute food poisoning. He's still not recovered. Projectile vomiting,Severe Diarrhoea no energy hot and cold sweats. All the other reviews are false. Poor food quality, poorly cooked,poor food hygiene. If you want any of the following symptoms I've highlighted then it's a great place to eat. If not go to somewhere else.

When we first moved to Braunstone you couldn't find a decent Chinese anywhere then we got recommended these. Well what can I say other than excellent. They no me by name now because I'm known to ring them up about 9.30 and order a egg fried rice which is just the best

Since moving to Braunstone 7years ago we could not find a decent Chinese. That Is until a couple of years ago with this just being up the road thought we would try it. Oh boy why didn't we try it sooner in stead of wasting money on horrible Chinese. These are certainly the best in miles and would not change anything. Always clean and very friendly staff. Well done. This Chinese takeaway has been on my doorstep for last few years and only until recently I decided to try it out. What I can say firstly after sampling the food, Is the regret of not trying the food sooner. I normally have beef with green pepper garlic and chilli in black bean sauce and I can say with honesty that is the best tasting takeaway dish I have had that memory serves. Along with noddles and egg fried rice that compliment the dish. I think what sets this Chinese takeaway from others is that along with the standard Chinese dishes they have other dishes with more garlic, chilli and ginger creating a fusion that get the tastebuds salivating. Needless to say I will not be ordering my Chinese takeaway from any other place than this. 5 star!!

I have both ordered and collected from these for years. The food is always stunning and the service is second to none. Really Great guy that gives 110% to his customers.

Have been getting takeaway from Spice and Rice for 8 years, food is delicious and always hot when delivered but service has declined considerably. My 3 most recent experiences have put me off for good. Firstly one occasion I went to collect my order and heard the staff tell 3 separate customers on the phone who had obviously called to chase their deliveries that the driver had left. He was standing in the shop at the time.Secondly when I ordered a delivery and was told 45 mins, it was over an hour and items missing. Was told they would make up for the missing items next time, ok but I had paid for these already and was hungry!Third and last time - again I ordered a delivery, told 45 minutes. After 1 hour I called to chase and told it's on way, call back if not there in 10 minutes. Called again after another 15 minutes as it still had not arrived and they then admitted it had not even been prepared let alone sent out, this is now 90 minutes after ordering. If you are busy then just be honest, if they said in the first place it will be 90 minutes then yes I may have gone elsewhere but perhaps just for that night. Finding out their food hygiene rating is 1 was the final nail in the coffin.

Always good quality food and not too salty either. I like that they are honest, if there's a wait because they are busy, they tell you, instead of other places that keep you hanging on. Friendly service and spotless reception. Our family have eaten their for over 30 years and haven't been disappointed yet.

This Chinese Takeaway is fast and friendly, always happy to talk to you whilst you wait for your order. The price reflects the standard of food, unlike some other Chinese takeaways. They can be very busy after 6pm, some keep trying to get though to place your order if calling. I do feel that if you are a repeat customer they could loo at some kind of free crakcers etc.

Whether you have one dish or order a feast for 7 the quality of the food remains the same. They even do seaweed, which not many chinese takeaways do now. They are always polite when you collect your food and the shop itself always looks spotless.

I use Spice and Rice all the time.My wife and I dont have to finish our order sometimes he knows us well and he never forgets 131 Hand Avenue.The food is superb,clean and cooked to perfection.Never had to complain or grudge the portions.Absolutely amaizing service.Will never think of experimenting with my palate anywher else.

I have been having Take Aways from Spice and Rice as far back as 1993 as my Mum lived in the area and we would have it once a month. I now live over 15 miles away but have been back a few times and most certainly if I'm passing i would use it. The food has never changed always good quality,service and price.
