15/10/2018: Having just been married at Gretna Green, my wife and I, together with our two witnesses , had a lovely meal in this delightful restaurant. The staff were very friendly and chatty and the food was delicious. The ambiance was great and we had a lovely evening.

Brodies

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway
12/11/2018: Four of us, all in or around our late 50s,met to catch up and chat. Based solely on Trip Advisor reviews, I booked us in at Brodies. Best decision I've made in ages.
01/11/2018: We were recommended this place by someone at the local mill when we mentioned we liked gin. Fantastic recommendation. Extremely welcoming staff who advised on the best gins to try based on our likes.

Campbell's Restaurant

Stranraer and North Rhins, Dumfries & Galloway
03/11/2018: We ate at Campbell's on a chilly October night and the warm hues of the yellow decor created a pleasant and homely atmosphere. Service throughout was friendly and efficient. We got off to a great start and my filo basket of forest mushrooms and bacon was truly delicious. However although the fish dishes we ordered for our main courses had some good flavours, they didn't really reach the same high standard of my starter. For example my halibut was too dry and although it came in a sauce - there wasn't enough of it. We certainly saw enough promise to warrant another visit if we were ever in the area again, but we'd probably order a meat dish next time.
31/10/2018: We are never disappointed! Yet again we had the most superb lunch at Campbell’s. The most delicious Cullen skink to start, for both of us, served with a little homemade roll and some lovely salty butter.

Townhead Hotel Bar Restaurant

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway, 20-30£
10/11/2018: I am writing this as an update on my previous reviews as I strongly believe in writing accurate and helpful reviews, as well as giving credit where it is deserved.
09/11/2018: We stayed over at the hotel for one night. The room is comfy (although the heating was up a bit high) and has everything one could possibly need to sleep well, shower and make coffee. We ate dinner at the restaurant that evening too. Oh my, the food was good and the portions huge! Although a bit pricy, I do believe it was value for money. Breakfast was unbelievable! It was so enormous I could not finish it. Mom loved the haggis! The staff are friendly to boot.

Casa Mia

Mid and Upper Nithsdale, Dumfries & Galloway
10/11/2018: Don't get me wrong the food is realy noce.. but small portions for the amount you actually pay! Certainly it feels overpriced for what you get. Didabled access into the eating area however bathroom is a problem.
04/11/2018: We returned to this restaurant for the 3rd time in the last 10 years as we live down south but married locally. It was lively last time and once again didn’t disappoint. This time, for the first time we brought our kids (9&7). He had prebooked as we know it gets busy on a Saturday. We received a warm greeting and shown to our table. The kids loved the setting and thought it was very “posh” :)

The Limetree Restaurant

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway
06/10/2018: Went for dinner on a Friday evening. Food and service was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. I struggle to see how you could get poor service as the place only has about 20 covers. There was no problem with our service which was attentive without being intrusive. I would thoroughly recommend the Limetree.

Copshaw Kitchen Gift Shop and Tea Room

Hawick and Hermitage, Scottish Borders
06/11/2018: Staying on the nearby caravan site we decided the short walk in the rain might be worthwhile and what a nice surprise. A great meal sat near the lovely open fire in an equally warm and welcoming environment. My lobster lasagna was an amazing start, followed by a good steak and chips. The star of the evening though would have to be the wife’s Lamb, absolutely fantastic. All in all great meal with excellent service. We will be back.
02/11/2018: We had a coffee here before going for a walk and decided to come back for our evening meal. So glad we did, the food was lovely as were the hosts, a nice open fire to warm up after a walk in November.

Ebb Carr's

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
30/10/2018: We were really looking for somewhere to use a 'loo ', and thought we had better buy something, and wandered in. What a pleasant surprise to find such a charming little place in this equally charming village. A couple of really nice coffees and a delicious cheese scone set us up for a stroll around the harbour. The staff were cheerful and helpful, and the range of cakes etc. on display looked mouth watering. The menu offered a range of snacks, meals and drinks, including alcohol which appeared to promise good value. Pleased we called in.
30/10/2018: Surprenant petit café qui ne paye pas de mine vu de l'extérieur... et pourtant, ce resto vaut à lui seul le détour vers ce petit bout de l'Ecosse.

The Belters Bar

Jedburgh and District, Scottish Borders
15/08/2018: Go into this pub for great food especially. Looks nothing from the outside but don't be fooled. Home cooked food, great vegetarian menu as well as a full range of other dishes. Make sure you book as the restaurant/kitchen is small and reaches capacity quickly. Definitely worth a visit. Kitchen closes at 8.00 so plan your eating early.
14/08/2018: Came here with my parents after hearing a lot of great things online about their food, and we were not disappointed. We ordered different burgers and were amazed by the amount we got and the value for money. Only complaint being we didn't have room for the puddings!

Loch Arthur Creamery and Cafe

Abbey, Dumfries & Galloway
31/10/2018: Good all round value for money with good variety and price. Good service and pleasant staff. Good vouchers
30/10/2018: A cosy but big cafe in a beautiful health food store. The food is fresh, beautifly made with organic ingredients. The service is simple but efficient and the staff is very friendly...a perfect place for a good breakfast, a light lunch or a special afternoon tea.

Stir it

Stranraer and North Rhins, Dumfries & Galloway
15/08/2018: Locals heaved a sigh of relief when Maria opened Fig & Olive Cafe. Not only is she a wonderful, educated woman, a great wife, and mother (all attributes that contribute to her well-deserved success), she is an excellent and inspired cook. There is nowhere else in the area that you can guarantee that everything that arrives on your plate has been thoughtfully produced from the very best ingredients. The menu features dishes of homemade granola with fresh berries, yoghurt and lime, quinoa burgers and delicious wraps, chocolate brownies with the surprise ingredient of beetroot - all of them absolutely delicious. Maria has attracted the best staff too - always smiling and friendly, they know the regulars by name and can anticipate exactly what you would like before you have the chance to check out the ever-evolving menu on the tables or the chalkboard behind the counter. There are not sufficient words to describe how welcoming Fig & Olive is - congrats to Maria and staff!
31/07/2018: Wonderful cafe, gorgeous food and lovely staff. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and helpful staff during our visits to this refreshing cafe. The food was lovely and we tried several of the options during our holiday. I would highly recommend the carrot cake.
