Harbour Inn

Mid Galloway, Dumfries & Galloway
20/10/2019: As the sole eatery and watering hole in this harbour village, you could easily think that they don't have to try to hard.... however this could not be further away from the truth. What a little gem!!
17/10/2019: pleasant welcome from all the staff, nice and flexible over children's portions, famtastic value Sunday roast, nice sweet courses esp terrific and plentiful homemade crumble. Only modest note would be couple of the veg but that's to be expected with Sunday carvery depending when you come.

Brodies

Annandale North, Dumfries & Galloway
17/10/2019: If you are in Moffat I would recommend stopping off here for a cocktail. The bar itself has vintage touches and lovely comfortable armchairs. Great selection of gins and tonics. I was driving and was delighted that they had an alcohol free Gordon's 'gin and tonic' - the grapefruit one was excellent. Very large goblet glasses meant the drink lasted a while too and £10 for 2 drinks (one alcoholic) was fair (with a nice bowl of crisps on the side!). Staff were very nice and advised on the menu. I hope to return.
14/10/2019: We had a wedding lunch on the 13th Oct and the service and communication before and on the day was excellent. Russell kept in contact throughout the organisation and Danny and her team looked after us on the day.

The Old Bakehouse

Tweeddale West, Scottish Borders
20/10/2019: We always enjoy great food with very friendly staff. The nachos are lovely and steak delicious. The puddings are fantastic.
13/10/2019: We completed a walking holiday by eating here on a Sunday evening. A rather atmospheric old building, with the iron-doored bread ovens built into the wall. More importantly, the food was excellent (whether roast local beef, pasta or a home made burger) and very good value. About 40 minutes from Edinburgh...West Linton is very lucky to have this place!

The Rialto

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
12/10/2019: Called in late afternoon just for a quick coffee but couldn't resist the home baking. Choc brownie and lime and pistachio shortbread both lovely and reasonably priced. 2nd visit was for lunch hot salmon sandwich and butternut squash panini. Cant fault the service cleanliness. Will definitely be back.
10/10/2019: Popped in here this morning for a coffee and cake at the end of our holiday in Eyemouth. We were not disappointed. Service was so friendly. Cake was absolutely delicious and the coffee was out of this world! Do not miss this place!!!!

14/10/2019: Stopped in at Crumb (which was also great) and they gave us the recommendation for Casa Mia. The staff and food are a wonderful step up from what we had been experiencing previously in other towns.
11/10/2019: Another fabulous visit to the Casa today for my husband's birthday. Brilliant meal, service and atmosphere, as always!! Never let's us down and staff are amazing. X

The Horseshoe Inn

Tweeddale West, Scottish Borders, 45-60£
09/10/2019: Another great visit to a gem in eddlestone. We had a lovely dinner in a splendid wee dining room. Food of a high standard and had lemon in chilled iced water which was so refreshing. The guiness was magic and the barman was so friendly and respectful as was the waitress. All in all a well run business but remember to book for dinner as sometimes has groups of people coming in. Also,it is situated on main road to Peebles with bus stop outside which is ideal for non drivers.
09/10/2019: We were holidaying in the area and went here for lunch with our Basset Hound Poppy who is now a senior citizen and she was given her own bowl of water and a dog treat (how lovely) we both ate 3 courses of absolutely delicious food and would most certainly return when we are next up that way, the staff and service were excellent.

Ebb Carr's

East Berwickshire, Scottish Borders
13/10/2019: Stopped in at the Ebb Carr’s Cafe after an extremely enjoyable walk around the nearby headlands. This is the first place I have ever herd of, or tried “Cullen Skink”. This dish was absolutely brilliant, a real local product. The service and staff were very nice and efficient. We ate out side on rustic tables and chairs with a lovely view and the smell of the ocean. How good was that! Great job by the staff and a great dish. I have since had this dish twice more and no one has come close to the dish served by Abbs Carr. Hope to come back again one day. Until then I will have live on memories.
13/10/2019: This place is a great find, both St Abbs and this cafe are well worth a visit. We had crab sandwiches followed by coffees and tray bakes. All was excellent, tastiest crab I have had in a long time and tray bakes were home made, you can tell.

Burt's Hotel Restaurant

Leaderdale and Melrose, Scottish Borders
15/10/2019: Lovely surroundings, good atmosphere but many areas of the menu were overpriced and didn’t really offer any value for money. Sirloin salad was essentially a few thin slices of lovely steak around half a portion of side salad and a couple of small ramakins of coleslaw/potato salad...all for £15...kids portions were small as well.
08/10/2019: We only had a couple of whiskys after a meal elsewhere. However, it was a lovely experience, sitting at the bar talking to the young man who recommended which ones we could try. I don't normally drink whisky but as it was our first night in Scotland I wanted to try some and he was a real delight to be served by!

The Smithy

North West Dumfries, Dumfries & Galloway
28/06/2019: We visited yesterday while having a day out, got there in time for lunch and have to say thoroughly enjoyed it. It had been sometime since we had visited The Smithy. A little gem in the Galloway Forest. The staff are very friendly and the service second too none.
23/06/2019: Had nice lunch with soup and sandwich which were very good in a nice place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Good stop off for Castle Douglas and beyond.

13/10/2019: We had a lovely meal here at the weekend which was the Festival of Light weekend. The restaurant was busy (you have to book) and the food and atmosphere was lovely. We will absolutely be back. Thank you.
24/09/2019: We visit The Castle 2 or 3 times a year and Paul never fails to produce great food. The specials board is the first place to look and dessert- the caramel apple pie is wonderful

La Dolce Vita

Nith, Dumfries & Galloway
11/10/2019: There were four of us to eat. It is NOT an accessible restaurant but so worth it if you can get in with help like I did. The exertion was worth it. The staff were polite and tentative with a good knowledge of the foods. The three-course meal we each had was sumptuous and so tasty Highly recommend this place. Very realistically priced.
10/10/2019: Had an excellent meal at La Dolce Vita to celebrate our sons 20th Birthday. He is gluten free and they do a lot of GF options which is most commendable. Food, drink, service and ambiance all excellent. Thanks to all.
