The best restaurants serving Other european-cuisines food in Dacorum East of England

We dined for lunch at the Chefs table to celebrate my wife’s birthday. What a fabulous experience! The food was exquisite, the service great & the laid back atmosphere watching the meticulous attention to detail by Scott and the team was a real joy. All topped off by the intimate environment & the chance to chat with Scott. Thank you!

You want an honest review so I'll give you that! The food was excellent, can't fault it!! However, a couple of minor (constructive) criticisms: the knife should be more serrated if eating a wrap, very hard to cut through as this fantastic wrap is too large to eat by hand. The waitress serving us had very little customer service skills, more smiles and questions please (I am in a similar business so see it from a professional angle). Otherwise a fantastic experience and will certainly come back.

Very disappointed with visit to The Gatsby last night. There is obviously a problem with staff and maybe there is a change of ownership. Only offered a 3 course supper for pre-cinema meal. We allowed plenty of time - but still the meal was very slow. They need to change their pricing. We didn't have time for pudding - as the whole experience had been so so slow! Wouldn't recommend unless they sort themselves out. The toilets need a proper clean and a lick of paint.

Still holding the crown for 10 years! Do you have any idea how hard that is in hospitably? Hiring the right staff, training service and customer focus, constantly managing standards. Great coffee / great environment. Hats off to them, to be honest. Yes - the coffees are served at the correct size (you're not going to get a pint of it). Yes - the food touches on the expensive side (it's all made fresh and in house). Yes - it gets busy. (Makes me extremely happy I have to wait in an independent coffee shop). Keep up the good work, see you soon.

My partner and I popped into plates on the off chance they had space on a Friday night, luckily they had space! we were actually on our way to an Indian restaurant around the corner, and I am so glad we took a chance on plates. They had a set meal (including meat) for £48pp and I must say it was well worth the money! We had to take our food away because it was so much. The flavours were incredible, we loved trying Pani puri- such a fun experience, all of the meat dishes were so tender and delicious. I don't have a bad thing to say! The stand out dishes were the tortilla, chicken curry, greens & paneer, and the rice, poppadoms and naan were better than I have ever tried before! Service was amazing, we loved the personal touch, to be able to speak with the owner & chef. If you have tried plates for brunch, you must try their Indian plates! Incredible- coming from someone who generally is not a fan of Indian food..

What a lovely venue. We attended the wine and tapas Thursday night. Visiting from Scotland and called to book, Jeff was so kind and managed to fit us in. The staff member who helped us when ordering the wine had fantastic knowledge and was amazing and the food was exceptional. We order 3 tapas dishes each and shared between 4 people. Great value and Highly recommend this place.

We ordered from “Crystal Mangal” which is what they are now called, you can find them via google maps but wanted to spread the word here too. Great doner kebab, we’ve not had one this good recently and the kebab is served with the salad to the side and you can order sauces separately. Really good quality taste and chunky slivers of doner meat. Highly recommend.

Very slow service and over pretentious food in tiny portions. We had to wait over an hour for food to be delivered and when it was it was the smallest amount of food you can imagine. Also the food was not up to the standard the menu thinks it is.

Came here on an offer (great value) to celebrate three family birthdays. Will visit again it’s always excellent and worth the trip.
