Great coffee and customer service thanks to Charlie, who up-sold me to include a double cookie without me realising it.

One of my fave places to sit and catch up on some work or meet friends. Delicious food, including the BEST cakes and cookies - all home made, pancakes are lush, bacon butties you can not fault. I'm a regular now and only wish they were open more often.

Lovely food, but tricky to work out what they actually sell from the blackboards - they don’t detail what each sandwich actually is. Shame the inside seating is now closed.

Great for games, but maybe not for stags! We visited Chance & Counter with a group of 10 friends for a stag do, and while we had a good time, it wasn't quite fit for a large and potentially boisterous groups. The cafe is clearly geared towards board game enthusiasts who appreciate a quieter atmosphere, which is understandable. However, it also serves food and drinks, which can create a bit of a conflict when a larger group like ours is added to the mix. Despite this, we had a great time exploring their huge selection of board games. There was something for everyone, with games of all types and durations. The food and drinks were also a hit, especially the dirty shakes (milkshakes with alcohol). They were so good I had two! Although, at £12 each, they were a bit pricey. I guess the cost helps to cover the board games, but it's something to keep in mind. The staff were great, despite having to ask us to keep the noise down several times and clearly a little distressed at time, they didn’t really show it. Helpful hints and tips: • If you're with a larger group, especially a stag or hen party, it might be worth calling ahead to see if they can accommodate you in a more secluded area. • Be prepared to pay a bit more for the food and drinks, but consider it an investment in the entertainment. • Take your time to browse the game selection - there are some real gems to discover!

Lush cup cakes, tea and coffee. I also had an Oreo milkshake. We just had our wedding cake consultation here and really thrilled with it. Claire was so knowledgeable and friendly. Her cakes are beautiful and so tasty. Glad we found her.

We bought 6 types of cake and a cup of milk bubble tea and tried all of them at once. The cakes were all great and none of them are too sweet, which is very rare. The bubble tea was better than most of the bubble tea places I went to in the past year (I like soft boba more than hard , chewy ones). Must visit if you are in Cardiff 👍 I liked best: Mango cream mochi, Matcha crepe cake (layered), red bean coconut mochi. Suggestion: Too much plastic packaging for my liking (see image). Would be great to reduce plastic and use paper more.

A booking for 4 had been made following our visit to take the 'Pobol y Cwm ' set tour. We were greeted on our arrival snd taken to our table. We were given time to peruse the menu and ordered a bottle of delicious house wine. We all gave our choices from the menu and we were waited on and looked after very well. The food was delicious and will definitely return.

The best mocha I’ve had in Cardiff, which came in a big mug. The pain au chocolat was really good. The staff were friendly.

I recently visited this café which not only served a variety of breakfast and brunch options but also offered what I can confidently say was the best coffee I had during my time in Cardiff. I opted for a black Americano, but it was clear they took their coffee seriously, with an evident dedication to quality that shone through in every sip. The beans were expertly brewed, resulting in a rich, well-balanced flavour profile that highlighted the nuances of the coffee without being overshadowed by bitterness. It’s refreshing to find a place that genuinely cares about the craft of coffee-making. The atmosphere of the café complemented the experience beautifully. With its vintage chairs, wall-mounted artwork that added an artistic touch, and an overall relaxed décor, the space had a distinct hipster vibe that made it inviting. It’s the perfect setting for enjoying a good coffee, whether you’re looking to engage in conversation with friends or simply unwind with a book. If you’re in Cardiff and searching for a place that values quality coffee in a charming environment, this café is definitely worth a visit.
