The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Meadows / Morningside Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

I don’t think I have enough space to fit this into 100 words! Unfortunately I have a medical problem for which I’ve been advised to stick to a “Fodmap” I thought I would never be able to go for dinner with my husband. I called the evening before when a very lovely member of the team asked me to email my food restrictions to her which she gave to Chef Lewis When we arrived for our booking we sat in the gorgeous lounge and was advised that the chef would come to speak to me. Chef Lewis sat with us and went through the menu. I chose to have a rib eye steak, chips, carrots and a lovely tomato salad. I was delighted the steak was melt in your mouth and cooked to perfection, it was all perfect. My husbands food was excellent too. We had a lovely Valentines dinner thanks to the fabulous caring team and fantastic Chef Lewis. We can’t put into words just how much we appreciated your time and for making it a special evening for us. We have booked a table for 5 people for Mother’s Day. No need for a menu for me, same again Lewis. 🥰 We have been to many restaurants all over the World and we have never received the outstanding service, care and attention we received from Chef Lewis and the rest of his team. Staff are so lovely and pleasant but it is just so expensive! I would struggle to afford such steep prices when I could go elsewhere and pay less for same quality . It’s a shame .

Lovely family breakfast. Good service, friendly staff and excellent food. The vegan pancakes were delicious. Everyone enjoyed their food. We went back later for lunch take-away. Am sure we will be back.

We booked this for valentines day and were really excited as the pictures looked good. The decor of the restaurant was nice. For starters I had the arranchini, which I love, but this one was SO tasteless, even after dousing it in salt and pepper. For our mains we ordered the pesto tagliatelle and the butternut squash risotto- again both really really tasteless.We could make the pesto pasta way better at home. We left feeling this was way overpriced for what we got, despite the presentation of it being really beautiful.

My mum and son visited the restaurant on 6th July. Unfortunately, my mum took unwell and an ambulance had to be called. My son was extremely upset to see his grandma unwell but said the staff were absolutely excellent making my mum comfortable and supporting both him and my mum. They actually closed the restaurant whilst they waited for the ambulance and refused to take any money for the meal they had started eating. I want to say a massive thank you for the kindness shown to my mum and son, it really meant a lot. From what both my mum and son fed back, the staff were outstanding, fetching my mum cushions to make her comfortable and making cups of tea. You are all an absolute credit and so compassionate. Thank you so much.

Love this wee cafe food is great so is the service girls are so polite and friendly I would honestly say best latte in the area that actually has coffee in it not like the ones further down towards meadows which are overpriced and bland latte 10/10 for Empire cafe .

Update: in for a burger this evening and the quality is back up to where it used to be, thank goodness! Thank you Green King! I will be back regularly now. And the service was fantastic! Sadly this place has gone downhill fast. The food used to be good and I used to come here fairly regularly as I am local, but no more. I ate here about a month ago and the hamburger was the worst I have ever had. I came here again last night and thought I'd try something different, so I ordered the chicken burger, and it was the worst I have ever had. Felt like I just threw my money away on crap. Everything now appears to be frozen and precooked like you'd buy at a cash and carry. Low quality, bland and overcooked. The only thing going for this place anymore is the beer, craft ales and a fairly nice atmosphere. Otherwise, there are far better options in the area for food.

Wish I had read the reviews - I ordered the omelette and it came as a semi circle of tasteless rubbery sponge. It was on dry bread - when I asked for butter I got the tiniest slither of butter and asked for more and it was pretty melted and felt like it had come off someone else's plate tbh. Couldn't fault the coffee though - 10/10 for a decaf flat white. Agree service distant and table wasn't wiped. Won't be rushing back.

Overpriced, under taste and seemingly under cooked bacon roll (for decorum I'll just say 'unsettled' digestive track followed). Stale cinnamon bun. At least the coffees and hot chocolate was ok.
