Called here on our way through Antrim had read other reviews and the menu online looked really good. The Brioche French toast was nice although it was different temperatures throughout and cold in some places. The coffee was good but what really let the whole experience down was the eggs benedict. Eggs benedict is a classic breakfast or brunch dish that has been enjoyed for decades and when done right is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately this was not the case here they have tried to add a twist to a dish that does not need any enhancements and in turn have ruined it. The crispy kale was inedible it was soaked in salt and was awful, the substitute for bacon was two slices of fatty hard overcooked slices of belly pork that had been reheated. I do not want belly pork for breakfast there was more fat than meat and it smelt awful. The hollandaise sauce was not too bad but then it had a black syrup drizzled on the plate which was bitter and did not complement the dish. The poached eggs were exceptional and were the best bit of the dish the rest I had to leave. Please just serve a classic eggs benedict its a winner every time I understand that you have tried to enhance the dish but this is an epic fail! The desserts I took home were nice and the carrot cake was one of the best I have had. My son ordered a toastie and we were confused as he asked for ham and cheese but was told they only did ham and cheese from 11am onwards but he could have a cheese toastie? Surely you can put a slice of ham in a toastie at the same time as putting cheese in it I assume you have ham on the premises so I don't fully understand the reasoning behind this. The café is a little grubby in places and could do with a little attention to detail. All in all it was a disappointing visit. Price wise its not extortionate but not good value at the same time portion sizes are good and its in a handy location for parking.

I visited this restaurant once before and had an absolutely wonderful meal. I was looking forward to going again and arrived at 14:30 on a Monday afternoon in mid-June. They were closed despite it saying online (in at least two different places) that they’d be open until 16:00. Very disappointing.

Absolutely Superb Family run Cafe on the Belmont Road in East Belfast.. First thing that struck me was how very clean & well maintained the place was.. There are also some Beautiful Historic Pictures of East Belfast on the walls.. Something that I believe is always lovely to see.. The Service was prompt, polite & all you could ask for.. As for the Food, I had the Vegatarian Fry & it was Superb.. Very Tasty with a very good mixture of items.. (Items can be replaced by request when making your order).. My Friend had the Soup with Wheaten Bread & she said that it was Delicious.. She also commented on the cleanliness & First Class Presentation of the Establishment.. This was my first visit but I will definitely be back.. I Highly Recommend this Cafe for Food or Drink at any time of the day..

Small venue with not that many customers other than myself hence the service which was good . The breakfast that “pot of tea with one bag”came at an extra cost came in at £13 . Good ingredients with no vegetable roll, although came with a posh little bowl of mushrooms on the side! “Loose the mushrooms as really isn’t an Ulster fry is it?

This review is for the bakery and not sitting in so I can't comment on the other reviews. I will say I've never had anything but friendly service. The coffee is delicious. The bagels as nice as any we have had in New York and the cinnamon rolls are so buttery and morish. The vegan ones are pretty special too. Not much more to say other than the food is amazing.

Stopped for a light lunch and was greeted by quite an unfriendly lady at the counter. The soup was veg but was mostly barley with the odd carrot, (I like barley but not the amount that’s in this) The girl who brought the lunch out was very friendly but I wouldn’t really be in a rush to go back.

I have had several meals in Square One since last year and they all have been cooked to perfection with great taste… This is a country bar/restaurant where locals eat and drink…and always have a friendly word for visitors! Music most weekends and as always when there is music and it’s not too loud it creates a great atmosphere.. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

¿Estas personas saben sonreír o comunicarse? . . . . . . . . . Ive estaba a las 10. 00 esta mañana por dos cafés para llevar y yo fui el único que habló, ¡la chica detrás del mostrador se veía enojada y no se comunicó! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ¿Por qué volvería?
