I visited here for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed it. They have really beautiful gardens and a tea room which are tucked away from the road so it feels very peaceful and relaxing to be there. Very welcoming staff and good food at reasonable prices. Thank you. ❤️

Food was first class can highly recommend . Service leaves a lot to be desired though . No inter action with the waitresses , they need to learn to smile . Both walked past our table when we had finished starters without taking the plates . Curt response when we asked for cutlery .

Sorry to say it was a bit grubby and theres a musty smell too. My table had crumbs on. The toilet and sink needed a really good clean. My scone was very nice though. I visit alot of tea rooms as out alot for work - I won’t be going back to this one. The good news was scone and tea was only a fiver. I would prefer to pay extra and have a nicer experience. I didnt even bother to take a photo !

Went for lunch with my husband. We’ve passed this place for years and always said about stopping off but had never done so. However today we did and we are kicking ourselves that we didn’t do it sooner! I had lasagne with a side of garlic bread and chips and I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve had! The portion was massive and I couldn’t quite finish it although I had a good go. My husband had the pie and said it was amazing, although it looked a smaller portion than mine he said that the pie was filled to bursting. The garlic mash was amazing and he would not have eaten any more if it had been bigger. We just about managed to share a trillionare tart which did not disappoint. When (I think it may have been the owner/landlady) brought it out and realised we were sharing she actually offered to go get more! Apart from the amazing food the staff were exceptional, the only complaint we have is that it’s not closer to our home but next time we are passing we’ll be coming back for sure! Oh and to top it off the prices are extremely reasonable.

The intention was to have a meal in the Spitfire café. I paid a visit to the male toilet and was unable to clean myself properly because of the complete lack of toilet paper, plus paper towels and soap. I pointed this to a female employee of the Café, her reaction was I never go into the male toilet to check the basic facilities, only the ladies toilets. No other attempt was made to replace the missing items. Due to the filthy state of the place, therefore, I made no attempt to order any food. The Spitfire public café, should be shut down, until the basic hygiene standards are met. Kent Country Council Public Health will receive a copy of this review. Under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 the Council has the power to require the provision of sanitary facilities in relevant places which includes places used for "the sale of food or drink members of the public for consumption on the premises".

We ordered two burgers, but they came without the fillings, including the lettuce. We also tried the sizzler, which was lukewarm and had no sizzle at all. The bun was dry like a desert, and the French fries had no taste whatsoever. Everything was incredibly bland and completely unseasoned. I expected better from a restaurant, but honestly, I’d rather go to McDonald’s. At least there, the food has more flavor and consistency.

We visited the cafe for a children's birthday party and were shocked at the belligerent demeanor of the staff. Unfortunately the same resentful vibe had been there to greet us at the museum when we arrived. I was so taken aback at the abruptness of the staff we met (not the volunteers, they were wonderful), that I mentioned it to the party hostess who felt terrible and was so apologetic. She had paid a fair price for the party but unfortunately we got the impression from the cafe team that we were unwelcome and somehow they perceived we should not be there. The punishment for our being there was the staff's grunting at the guests when simple requests were made, no smiles, abrupt responses, and mopping around us 20 minutes before the party was due to finish. The passive aggressive hostility from the staff was unfathomable. I am not sure why they would accept a booking then behave in such an unfriendly manner. The 2 stars is for the wonderful volunteers who keep this important and educational museum alive for so many generations to learn from. We met some lovely people in the museum itself.
