Decided to go here for a hot chocolate as we’d heard good things and it was pouring with rain, plus it was meant to be a holiday treat, but we were so disappointed. £10.90 for two regular hot chocolates!! We had high expectations given the menu and price but the drinks were quite small and the cups were dirty. They came with a dry finger cake and “fresh fruit” which meant three slices of under ripe strawberry (it’s October!). The hot chocolate is extremely strong and sickly. We didn’t stay long as it wasn’t particularly warm, and then the person behind the counter let their dog off the lead and let it roam free. It settled on one of the customer chairs licking one of the tables. Honestly I couldn’t wait to get back out into the rain! Wouldn’t go back.

The best cocktail bar in the area by far, the skilled and friendly staff are happy to create any of your favorites even if it's not on the menu. We live locally and recommend this place to anyone visiting Bowness, the drinks really are a step above any other cocktail bars in the area.

I loved this colourful little café, but unfortunately I had to mark them down as I think something must have been burnt shortly before we arrived, and my eyes are so sensitive that within a few minutes my eyes were stinging and streaming. I had a fabulous hot chocolate, and my son really enjoyed his burger. I would have liked to have stayed longer but my eyes were so sore (and it was too cold to sit outside) that I just wanted to leave. Staff were fantastic, and I feel terrible that I couldn’t give them the 5 stars that they deserve.

What a gem!! Me & my partner grabbed 2 turkey bacon sub rolls from here for lunch, they were £4.50 each and they were awesome! You never get value for money like that these days, it was fresh, warm and massive, a 10/10 sandwich. Even better after a big walk in the fells. Will return often i’m sure! Friendly warm service too. They also had a salad bar that looked insanely good too - might try that next time. Thanks! ~ Rosie&Matt

Well worth driving an hour and a half for our second visit to Blackwell. A unique and fascinating house. Our thanks to volunteer guide David for an unhurried tour and detailed insight into Blackwell's history. The cafe staff were superb as was the food and the Duty Manager was extremely enthusiastic and clearly smitten with the house herself. Her introduction to Blackwell on our arrival was most informative and we were amazed to see her gladly involved in carrying out a full range of tasks ranging from waitressing in the cafe to even cleaning the toilets as we were the last to leave - good management by example and at its very best. Allow good time to appreciate the Blackwell's design and high level of presentation as well as its beautiful setting. We could have spent a full day there.

Went in after I missed breakfast one morning and can't wait to go back! The staff at Mio Mondo were so nice and patient with me while I was choosing. I'm a picky eater so it was appreciated that I had time to choose, food came out piping hot and was so good! Their homemade cakes were delicious as well! 🍰

Had a roast beef Sunday lunch, food was really good just a little cold and could have done with more vegetables! Husband had sirloin steak cooked well enjoyed. Portions are pretty generous. Staff friendly and service was good. Dogs are allowed in the restaurant area which I am not keen on! But would eat here again

Great place! Lovely atmosphere, I would of rated it higher but it was bloody freezing in there! I feel the cold , so had to sit with my mega thick ski coat on as I couldn’t get warm, my husband eventually asked the staff if they could put the heating on but they said it wasn’t working, they did come and put the fire on when asked so I moved nearer , but it didn’t give any heat off at all! We would of stayed longer but decided to leave and go to another place which we knew was warm and cosey, so come on easy breeze get the heating on for us guys who hate the cold!

We only ended up here because the 2 pubs up the road were closing(10pm) There was 7 of us all 70 somethings so hardly rowdy and would have spent a fair bit on drinks. They did us a huge favour, it was alovely friendly place geared up for families with games on the tables, drinks were good and reasonable for the area. We do get fed up with the lakes complaining about the lack of tourists but they make little effort to encourage custom with the restricted opening and reluctance to take largish reservations for meals So we were extremely pleased to find this little gem

Such a relaxing atmosphere, never seems to be overcrowded, unless we've just been lucky. But we had plenty of room to move around and lots of space to have a conversation without being on top of the next table. Ate here a few times, lunch, dinner and breakfast on different days and all good, but the full Willow breakfast is wow. And the gamon steak is delicious. Im looking forward to going back next year. Staff are so polite and really go out their way to help. Great place.

Visited here many times - the food and service is great and the place is very inviting. My young sister also visited here with her friend when in Bowness for the day, and had lost her card and only had her bus fare home which she only realised after ordering a cocoa, she told them she would have to cancel and they gave her the cocoa as a good Will gesture anyway. Not often you get people this kind hearted these days , definitely recommend visiting here and I also will return.:) Also visited this weekend and the tapas was delicious!
