Bowness Tap Rooms in South Lakeland

Went in a couple of weeks ago for lunch, was our first time. Food was good and very reasonably priced. Will try pizza next time, they looked so good. The staff were a stand out, we were looked after by Max and Anna and they were both really on the ball. Max has a great personality and was made for hospitality.

Travelling with family visited several nights for dinner and drinks. Totally enjoyed several of the different dishes on offer and the customer service team realy added to our experience

Called in for food, the staff were very friendly and had a good selection of beers available. The outside seating area is excellent and relaxed, well worth a visit.

Great place for food and drinks with a selection of locally produced ales, IPA and lagers. Polite and helpful staff with a great atmosphere

Welcomed and allowed to choose our own table which was nice. Ordered panini and fries, a regular soft drink and water for 3. I said twice not a large soft drink, a large one came. Paninis were okay, nothing special and the fries highly salted and seasoned, but nice and crispy. For the price it was a filling lunch, nothing outstanding but nice enough. Suddenly out of nowhere the waitress grabbed the half eaten bowl of chips we had put in the middle to share, and the rest of our plates which were empty, and put dirty napkin on top of the chips. I was shocked, she then realised and asked if we wanted to continue eating them. No, not now! They obviously wanted our table back. Although at the time it wasn't busy inside or outside. A shame as the abrupt ending to our meal ruined how relaxed we felt and we were not there idling the hours away, as it was a always a quick lunch before exploring the town some more. Maybe check first before swiping things off the table!

Spur of the moment decision to go in to eat. Midweek in March and there were quite a few people in. Lovely atmosphere. Good selection on the menu. Classic buger was great and I've already chosen for my next visit.

So it's a tough one this, as I think we were just unlucky but when somewhere has so many great places to choose from to eat at, you feel disappointed when you don't get it quite right. We love a craft beer and tap rooms we've been to elsewhere tend to do excellent food! It's new to when we last visited Bowness so booked a table to give it a try. It was quite busy with drinkers when we arrived but were taken downstairs to a table which a relief was a bit quieter and another table were having food. Service was quick, although when our food order was being taken, he wasn't noting it down and said he may forget our sauces and to remind him if he does. Turns out he got my order wrong and instead of a ham, mushroom and olive pizza, I ended up with a pizza with a similar name with just sundried tomato. It was ok and staff knocked money off as an apology. We ordered pulled chicken fries and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato was amazing but the chicken fries were stuck together maybe too much cheese. It went downhill from here. A drunk male with a dog in his hand stumbling down the stairs next to our table spilt beer everywhere. He was staggering round us and knocked into my partner several times. Then comes down a rowdy bunch of eight. Swinging his chair back into us, swearing and just carrying on. I'm all for fun but when we've booked to eat a meal I'd prefer that to be elsewhere. There were tables with older kids on too which seemed uncomfortable. It's annoying really as when we went to the separate area to head up to the toilet it was really chilled in there and had we been there I think it would have been a much nicer experience. Staff did not manage it at all. We then asked for the bill, it was pay at the till. Nothing itemised and no receipt when paid just moved on to serving someone else. Left disappointed and will not return.

What a great little place ! Staff really welcoming and friendly, good selection of beers, the Windermere IPA was lovely. Had the burger with the pulled brisket , juicy succulent and super tasty you can tell made with quality ingredients. Probably the best burger I have had! We had the cheeky Fries topped with chicken which were delicious too. Would highly recommend this little spot if you want great value, superb quality and a welcoming atmosphere, we will definitely be back.

This could be so much better with decent beer. The copper beer tanks which were made by Budvar on show, I was made up - but they contained some local Hawkshead beers. Really disappointed. On tap were the usual and veey common beers which again was disappointing. Pizza was great though. If you’re advertising yourselves an original tap room, get some better beer.

Called in for a drink several times during our stay. Nice friendly staff, good ambience and beers. Definitely recommend. Just a thought... some of the lights are pointed right in your face so could do with a tweak😀

As a beer enthusiast I was attracted by the three impressive looking copper barrels in the bar area. I think that these are a placebo. They had no craft beers available, it's only pretending to be a tap room.

We booked in on a Sunday as only open a few days a week in Jan. We requested a quiet table not in bar and this was noted when we arrived , the tall bearded gent who served us (sorry did not give a name)was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, however to start we were told there was a problem with their beer..one of the reasons we went..however he checked and one was working so he kindly gave my husband a sample to see if he liked it as it was a distinctive taste ! This was great service and we ordered a pint , along with 2 burgers and a rose wine.. The service was swift and the burgers were fab..we ordered 2 different ones and juicy lucifer was the best though both were absoloutley lovely! Great fries too.. We then shared afterwards a salted caramel sundae ..nice but we were given soup spoons which don't get into the bottom of a sundae dish..desert spoons are needed! Overall great service and lovely place, was warm on a wet day however when you went to the loo upstairs they were baltic.. you couldn't wait to get out!! Another pet hate of mine is messy condiments and our mayo had a cracked and dirty lid.. Overall a great visit and will certainly return Total was around £55 x

Beer was good, food was good, staff were friendly and there was a good atmosphere. So why not 5 stars? As with a lot of places in the lakes, with transient staff, you tend to lack quality somewhere, and here it was in the waiting. They need a kick ass waiter to boss tables, otherwise 5 stars. Children's chickens nuggets, perfect and the chips are fantastic The juicy lucifer burger is in a league of its own and the pizza meravilisoa is a mouth waterer, would deffo come back again

A place to be avoided by all. My friends were verbally abused by one of the bar attenders and were refused to be served. When walking out of the bar my female friend was pushed by a male in the bar and her boyfriend was physically assaulted which lead to him hitting his head and falling unconscious outside of the bar. Whilst the police assisted us with this terrifying situation not one person who worked in this bar wanted to help. The manager, a man with long brown hair, was only interested in saying it wasn’t him that assaulted our friend so he had nothing to worry about and two women who appeared to know the manager were swearing at our friend as he lay unconscious on the floor. A horrific and terrifying situation that was completely unprovoked. Police investigations are ongoing to this incident and I urge anyone visiting this area to avoid this bar.

I had such an amazing experience at this place! The bar staff were absolutely incredible and provided top-notch service. They were friendly, attentive, and really made me feel welcome. The manager was also very attentive and made sure everything was running smoothly. The music was brilliant and created a great vibe throughout the venue. I can't wait to go back and experience it all over again!

Walking through the town heading back towards the lake front to find lunch, my partner stopped me here intrigued by the menu. Upon entering we were greeted by the very friendly Rufis who instantly welcomed us with a smile and made us feel comfortable as we went to sit down. When taking our order Rufis was very helpful and supportive of us looking as we took our time. Then as the food came out to us we were staggered by the beauty, you may see the menu and think it’s a bit pricey but seeing a mountain of food prepared so beautifully makes that thought go straight away. Compliments to Clemente the chef who had done such a spectacular job, I only wish this was closer to home! Sadly because I was driving I was unable to drink however there option of tank ale sounded fascinating as Rufis explained it. Overall moderately priced but 100% worth it if not for the staff attitude then the food itself. Will definitely come again at the next opportunity!! My few photos do not do it justice!

Absolutely Horrific service from extremely rude stoned looking barman. Lager was not drinkable and I question if it was even safe to drink. Once I politely approached the barman I was told it will not be replaced or refunded and my only option was to leave. Don't bother people ,overpriced and Horrific service. I feel sorry for the bar owner that was made aware of this issue as they must be struggling if they can't change or refund after all there was only 2 others in the place. Keep the tenner mate you obviously need it and pour the beer down the sink. If you want a good pint head to the Albert like we did after visiting the crap rooms, really nice staff, great beer and fantastic food (not old end of barrel crap) Never complained about anywhere before , know my beers very well.

We came in to this bar not knowing what we wanted to drink, Rafis asked us what we liked, he then created us a cocktail from this, great hospitality, top class service, would recommend, we named our cocktail "Starburst"

This place was fantastic, Rafis is a grate people person and his cocktails are fantastic - even just watching him make them - this encouraged us to sample them of course

Pretty poor. Came in here as atmosphere seemed good. We sat downstairs and ordered. We waited around 45 mins- 1hr for food to arrive. The food wasn’t great at all. Soggy pizza with mushy mushrooms and cheese that was stringy and slid off the pizza....

Friendly staff in a quirky setting made this place stand out to us. The gourmet burgers were excellent too. The music upstairs may have been a little loud for some people who were eating. It was quieter downstairs but not as atmospheric.

We have been here numerous times and each time the food is consistently excellent. The staff are welcoming and friendly and always go above and beyond to make each visit special. Highly recommended and reasonably priced for the location.

What a fantastic bar/restaurant to visit with great ambiance. The food is all freshly made and popping hot. The staff treat you like family well worth a visit when you're in Bowness.
