Mio Mondo Coffee shop in South Lakeland

Went in after I missed breakfast one morning and can't wait to go back! The staff at Mio Mondo were so nice and patient with me while I was choosing. I'm a picky eater so it was appreciated that I had time to choose, food came out piping hot and was so good! Their homemade cakes were delicious as well! 🍰

Pleasant cafe overlooking main road. Good service great cake!! Please learn how to make a flat white, it's a small coffee, NOT the same size as a cappuccino! Also please turn off the awful music outside, it would be great to have a quiet area, not everyone likes constant music.

Fab breakfast and great value - would definitely come here again. We also had some ice lattes whilst sat in their terrace and it was gorgeous!

Amazing start to the day, breakfasts are unreal and prices really well. Would definitely recommend to anyone in bowness or surrounding areas.

We have 3 children under 3, we were made to feel very welcome, high chairs available, clean and great food. Very kind staff. Epic waffles!

We visited on a sunny evening, it was a casual unintended stop. It looked like an impressive coffee machine so we decided to stop. Dont be put off by its position next to the main road we sat in gorgeous sunlight, had a very attentive waiter, teo very nice coffees. One black and one Latte, the coffee was smooth, the sun was warming and there was a perfect volume of relaxing classical music. I honestly relaxed in a really unexpected way. My wife and I will be back to try some snacks.

Visited on a wet afternoon in October half term. Promptly seated upon arrival, with blankets and outdoor heating for seats outside. Coffee was great and the orange and chocolate cake even better. Waffle was delicious too. Defo recommend.

Great for lunch, service and food excellent. Pets are welcome and plenty of tables for space to relax with your pet. Food was really good and we enjoyed every mouthful.

Visited today and was greeted by very friendly staff. We chose to sit outside under the cosy heat lamps and nothing seemed to be too much effort for the staff. Clean, friendly and a visit that I would definitely repeat.

Después de una caminata muy larga, aparecimos y pedimos dos cervezas y dos, lo que se describió como "patatas fritas rústicas con piel" a las 2. 95 cada uno.Conseguimos las cervezas y dos ollas de hojalata con papas fritas fritas directamente de la bolsa congelada, probablemente de la cooperativa de la calle. Mi esposa tenía 14 papas fritas en la suya, tuve suerte de tener 19. 6 libras. Deja que eso se asimile. El camarero no quería saber, estábamos demasiado cansados de nuestra caminata para armar un escándalo. No volveré.

Teníamos gofres con tocino y sirope de arce y huevos revueltos con tostadas con frijoles. El gofre era minúsculo y toda la comida venía fría y todo le faltaba sabor. Si eres una persona que desayuna, no recomendaría venir aquí.

Nuestra última mañana en Bowness tomamos un delicioso desayuno afuera. Tan pronto como llegamos, el personal puso el calentador exterior y fue muy atento. Comida realmente encantadora, ojalá hubiéramos encontrado este lugar antes. Volveremos la próxima vez que visitemos. Gracias

El personal era menos que amable. Pedido muy sencillo de 1 x sopa del día, 1 x sándwich de queso (panini) y 1 x patatas fritas con piel gourmet. El pedido tardó mucho en llegar. Llegó la sopa tibia, el sándwich de queso era en realidad un panini de queso tostado y la piel gourmet con patatas fritas eran patatas fritas muy finas. Envié la sopa para que la volvieran a calentar (era una buena sopa de puerros y papas) y devolví el panini y no acepté un reemplazo ya que, para entonces, estábamos retrasados porque teníamos un bote que atrapar. Es una pena, ya que la cafetería / bistró se veía bastante bien. ¡Muy decepcionado!

No tuve problemas con el personal, amablemente cambiaron dos mesas para que 5 de nosotros pudiéramos sentarnos juntos. La mayoría de nosotros tomamos el desayuno durante todo el día, que era bueno, incluido el vegetariano. ¿Pulgares arriba de mi parte?

We were looking for somewhere that didnt feel too busy and decided to try Mio Mondo.With the outdoor seating placed around the building, there was a lovely spacious feel to the place and we felt really comfortable. We ordered a coffee, hot chocolate and two med veg / feta ciabattas with a side order of chips to share. They were SO good. The lively music, cushions and outdoor heaters made this an exceptionally pleasant lunchtime treat.Thank you to the team at Mio Mondo, you're doing a great job:-)

El principal problema que tuvimos con este lugar fue la mala educación del camarero que nos atendió. Nos trató como a otro cliente en su cinta transportadora y se apresuró a completar nuestro pedido para poder obtener más. Incluso nos pidió que apresuráramos nuestro pedido. Junto con una comida más que normal (inglés completo y una hamburguesa) y un ligero sobreprecio, estoy realmente sorprendido por las críticas generalmente positivas que tiene Mio Mondo. Tal vez con un servidor diferente y diferentes comidas esto sería diferente, pero en general, un lugar que no volveremos a visitar.

We went for an evening meal whilst having a few days away. Staff are friendly, prices are reasonable and the food was lovely. Nice touch having blankets for you if seated outside. Overall a very pleasant evening.

We visited here a few times over a 4 day break. The breakfast ciabatta’s are a must. Also a great selection of cakes and drinks.

My Husband and I had a spontaneous visit to Mio Mondo for a meal. Some tables were reserved for later so we were happily accommodated, phew. The food was delicious. Service was really good and the staff friendly. The coffee is also very good.

Called in twice this week for coffee and both times we were warmly welcomed and served top drawer coffee (squidgy lemon cake was delicious too).

Came here for dinner, didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat me within five mins and were very welcoming to my dog too, bringing out a dog biscuit with my drink which I thought was a lovely touch. I sat in the undercover outside area which was perfect with having a dog with me, it was warm and cosy due to the outside heaters and blankets also provided on the back of the chairs if you needed them. I had pan fried chicken breast in white wine followed by sticky toffee pudding, it was fresh and tasty and I didn't have to wait long for it arrive. Service was polite and friendly, I would definitely recommend and go back. Thank you!

We visited the Mio Mondo today, in a word wow, the food was amazing very good quality for the price, staff are attentive and polite, I can highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a fantastic evening meal at Mio Mondo. We were a group of 5 of all ages. The staff were extremely efficient and polite and the food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious! We will definately be back!

We visited Mio Mondo twice during our stay in Bowness, once for drinks and then for breakfast. It was busy on both occasions as they cover all requirements.Our first visit was on a whim as we were dining nearby. There was beer and although I don't believe they had wine, they did have little bottles of Prosecco. I remember we were offered Gin and Tonic as an option. This sums up Mio Mondo really, the management understand how to run a business and although they're clearly busy, they have a good attitude. The fact that all TA reviews are replied to says a lot.We returned for breakfast two days later and I had sausages on sourdough. I've had better but overall we all enjoyed our meals.Who knows, it could be coffee and cake when we return later in the year.

We popped in on Friday afternoon for coffee and cake, trying to recreate our trips to Austria. We were very impressed by the efforts taken re COVID-19, and everything felt very safe. The cakes were excellent.The following night (Saturday) we returned for an evening meal to try out the bistro. Food was excellent - steak was cooked medium, as requested, my son enjoyed his salmon, and my daughter said the (home made) chicken bites were the best she's had!Would definitely recommend a visit - as mentioned before, the precautions taken are good without detracting too much from the experience, and the service from staff was very attentive. It's a small outfit, so I would recommend reserving a table for the evening meal.There is no free parking outside the restaurant, but there is a small carpark nearby that is reasonably priced.

Visited today on a whim, without researching beforehand. Rarely write reviews but we felt compelled to praise/recommend this place! Their tea, coffee and scones was spot on - absolutely lovely! We are big tea/coffee drinkers and we were very pleased. Moreover, customer service was polite, friendly and with a smile (a man in braces - didn't catch name, sorry). Thank you! :-)

Had a brilliant meal, staff were excellent and very professional the food was first class and we felt very safe given all the current restrictions. Definitely recommend this place for a meal.

Visited for lunch as a family of five. Our first visit to Windermere and this cafe is in trip advisors top places to eat with children in Windermere. Not sure why as apart from 3 choices for children on the menu there is nothing child friendly about the cafe. It’s very narrow and the tables are a little too close for social distancing. You can’t really leave you seat safely whilst inside. The menu is small basically sandwiches, salad, soup and about 3 mains to choose from. Food is lovely, everything is made from scratch. I didn’t enjoy my meal but that was no fault of the chef. I also had a milkshake which was delicious. It’s expensive but everywhere is in Windermere we paid about £60 for a family of four. Bit too cramped, not really child friendly but lovely well cooked food.

Had a delicious breakfast here on a recent trip to the Lakes. Good coffee and lovely bacon and sausage sandwiches. Went back for a second visit and enjoyed a cream tea and some gorgeous carrot cake. Lovely friendly staff as well which is always great - would highly recommend.

On a very wet Tuesday evening!! looking for somewhere to eat , took a chance on this lovely bistro cafe. Sat outside under heaters & warm blankets to dine on excellent food & very friendly service. Definitely recommend for an evening meal.

We chose Mio Mondo for our evening meal as everywhere was packed out on a warm Friday evening and we found the place to be reasonably quiet as it is up the hill away from the lakeside area. We were shown to our table and offered drinks quickly. These took quite some time to arrive ( but we sent the red wine back as it was noticeably warm ?? ) and once we got them were asked to choose our meals . I chose chicken in white wine sauce and the missus chose the vegan noodle bowl. Once again there was quite a long wait for the food and we got ours before another couple who ordered 10 minutes before us . Another couple sat near to us and when they got their food , the waiter brought out completely the wrong dish , therefore they had to eat separately and the replacement dish took nearly 15 minutes to arrive , not good . We had the sweet which was good and overall the meal was very good , just poor service marked them down . When I paid my bill, I went up to the counter to pay as it was taking too long to get the card machine , and I noticed just one chef in the small kitchen , no wonder things were slow. Maybe he needs an assistant in there to speed things up . The other small quibble for me is that the staff do not speak good English and it is a little difficult to understand them at times , especially as the road by the restaurant is quite busy and noisy.

we go here all the time as we have a holiday home in Kendal, this place is amazing, we have never had a bad service food is amazing g and so is the staff, we are coming up next week ...cant wait we will be popping in once or twice lol

Had breakfast with family, 2 Adults 2 Children. Arrived 9am, lovely and quiet. Staff wear masks, gel on entrance. Very clean. We had 2 full English and 2 waffles with bacon & maple syrup. Kids said it was the best breakfast ever. The full English was lovely, not stodgy or over filling. Staff very pleasant. A lovely relaxing breakfast. Thank you.

Had a weekend in The Lakes and went to Mio Mondo for our lunch on Sunday! What a lovely experience!They had a hand sanitiser station for us to use before seating us.We sat outside under the heaters and were served by a friendly young girl.My husband and I enjoyed the ciabatta and soup and our girls enjoyed yummy homemade waffles.We would recommend and will certainly return when we next come to the lakes. Hopefully soon!

Small bistro serving good food, staff pleasant and welcoming. If you like sweat - the billionaire shortbread and ice cream.

Visited this after a period of time on the lake to recharge the batteries.We were greeted by a waiter who provided us with menus.We ordered a Flat White and Appetizer. It took them a further 10 minutes to bring two Flat Whites out to us. They got the order incorrect and swapped the Flat White for a warm glass and room temperature bottle of Appletizer. Crockery wasn't overly clean and we felt somewhat unsettled due to the current climates.We were not asked for any details for Track and Trace. Toilets are unisex and somewhat clean, but have a shared towel for drying hands?!I would recommend the owners review their Covid Safe risk assessment and ensure they follow government guidelines along with cleaning crockery correctly.

This was recommended tongs and it did not disappoint. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back

What a great little Cafe. We popped in for a light lunch and enjoyed great coffee and sandwiches. Soup of the day and a crusty cob was delicious.We visited on the weekend when social distancing was enforced. The staff were coping well with the developing situation and were a credit to the business. I am sure when we all come out of the other side of this pandemic, good venues like this will pick up once more and thrive.

So glad we stopped here for lunch the other day. We sat outside and took advantage of the heater and blankets provided. We had the nicest caramel lattes we have ever had! And it was great to have a dedicated children’s menu to choose from for our toddler. Really great friendly service an fab food.

Popped in here withe my wife and little dog on Thursday for a cappuccino and a mocha . Prices were reasonable for the prime position on the main road. Staff were attentive and friendly. Coffee was very nice and all in all we had a very pleasant 30 minutes or so. Food looked nice but we only had a drink .Toilets were clean a smelt fresh. Would go in again if in the area

I came here a few times when I lived in the Lake District, and it was definitely a popular choice for breakfast. I’ve had a bacon panini from here and the early bird breakfast, on the occasions that I’ve visited. Also everytime I’d have the freshly squeezed orange juice (although steeply priced at £3) and the iced coffee which was just divine! The atmosphere is lovely and hosts a great place to sit on a lovely sunny morning with a few of the hustle and bustle of Bowness waking up for the day. Even if it’s raining the clear panels provide shelter from the rain and wind, and the blankets and outdoor heaters provide warmth on a cooler day. The staff are super friendly, very inviting and can help with suggesting choices. I’ve never been able to eat a cake here but the display of cakes and sweet treats always looks delicious too! Fab little place, maybe not suitable for a pram as it’s a little tight but it just makes it cosy for couples, small groups of friends or a family of 4. :)

Found this small but cozy place in Bowness. Staff very friendly and food was fantastic. I will come back.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a hot chocolate, cappuccino and a slice of cake on Monday 27th January. I’d been to the coffee shop before a couple of times and always enjoyed my experience, so I wanted to return.Wasn’t disappointed, the drink and cake was really enjoyable. We seated ourselves outside under one of the many heaters which definitely give off some heat and we also used the blankets provided to keep us extra warm.As we arrived the cafe wasn’t that busy, however it seemed to get busier inside. I’m glad we were sat outside as inside did seem to get very crowded the fuller it got. The service was good, the drink and cake was good. Lots to choose from and was really quite spoilt for choice. We sat and watched the world go by for 30 minutes and we really enjoyed our visit to Mio Mondo Coffee Shop and will definitely be returning the next time we’re in the area.

A great little spot in a fabulous surrounding, friendly staff helped with my daughters dairy allergy and we all enjoyed lovely food and a well earned rest with a pleasant atmosphere. See you again.

At first me and my partner were impressed with the cafe, it was a nice, warm, modern space to get out of the rain. We both ordered a full english at the early price of £5 something, to our disappointment we only received one egg, one rasher of bacon and one sausage which we thought was a little stingey for the price however tasted fine. After drinking a pot of tea and chatting for a little time another couple came into the cafe and said they would sit outside until one table was free, much to our surprise as we had only just finished our drinks the female waiter said you can have this table they will be done in five minutes. Seconds after this the male waiter brought over the bill rather speedily even though we had not asked for it and we paid. I got up to use the toilet and left my partner seated at the table, shockingly as i came out of the bathroom there was the couple that had came in seated at our table, the waiter had handed my bag and coat to my partner and asked him if he could "stand over there because i need this table now". We both felt like we had no time to relax while eating and drinking here and were almost pushed out of the door to make room for other people, i am upset to see reviews similar to this with situations like this happening before. I will not be going to this cafe again as we are regular visitors to windermere, i wish to go somewhere where we feel wanted.

Nice to be able to sit outside under the heaters. Staff friendly and attentive without being too much. Portions good and appeared better value for money that other places I visited.

We visited for lunch on today and were pleasantly surprised to be advised to knock one dish of of our order as it would be too much food. It was sound advice as it turned out. Food (various sandwiches and chips) were very tasty, milkshakes lovely and good coffee too. Great service, lovely meal. Thanks very much.

We had breakfast there last week. The waitress was very polite and smiley. The breakfast was a good price, well cooked and ample. The flat white was very nice.

We found this on a Monday morning after a long weekend away. We sat outside (under a heater) and ate a lovely cooked breakfast with a hot chocolate and tea. Affordable price if you get there in time, the price of the breakfast increases at 1130 (best check that time!). Would highly recommend this to others.

Had the soup n sandwich which was well worth the money cant recommend this highly enough from the service right down to the food. Will defo be back next time in The Lakes

What a lovely little cafe with amazing selection of desserts, we were a group of 7 with 2 toddlers and staff were very friendly. Coffee is great, cakes are very tasty. my personal favourite is sticky choc orange cake.

Visited here for a catch up with freinds. Two of us had waffles and they dont disappoint! I had the one with the New Yorker and it was amazing I would highly recommend! The staff are all friendly and are an asset to your venue. Particularly the young man with black hair who served us. Sorry I didnt get your name. We were sat inside as was quite cold out but on a warm day I would out. Will definitely be back! Sorry no picture of my waffle

Walked past here a few times but never popped in. It's a great little cafe with seats inside and out and dog friendly. All the cakes tasted great and I'm sure we will return when next in Bowness.

Second breakfast visit to this place in 2 years. Such friendly service. Bit on the pricey side (£18.60 for 1 coffee, 1 tea and 2 breakfasts) but on reflection, it was warm, quaint, fast service & lovely staff. We’ll go again for sure

We went as a family of four for breakfast. Food nice and reasonably priced, kids enjoyed it. Service very friendly when my son (aged 8) asked what the machine was with chocolate milk swirling around the owner*(I think) told him it was hot chocolate and gave him and my daughter a complimentary hot choc in an espresso cup

This was the second time visiting - sat outside both in the summer and October! Love the cosy little rugs they provide in the sheltered seating and table area. Fantastic food & drinks, great service which is prompt too. Had tuna panini with chips! Hope to return soon!

The place looks presentable, the staff are friendly and the ambiance was nice. The food arrived quickly and well presented. Food itself tastes great. I have the 6oz burger, it was a well cooked home made burger with great flavour for its price. My partner had the waffle and bacon which is not the best but still good.

We first visited here when our normal places weren't yet open and I really enjoyed my veggie brek last time.

When on holiday in Bowness we stop here for food and drink several times during the week. Always quality food and service. Ignore the pathetic reviews. We tend to sit outside with our German Shepherd and there are wall heaters and it’s sheltered as well. The only negative are the balloons that visit and light up a cigarette. Apart from that we thoroughly recommend this cafe.

5.95 for a all in English and great coffees while it could charge more it does not . The place is a gem among a few thorns on the high street .opens early and so is heart for the early riser

We were in Windermere, enjoying a boys break, and rather than eating breakfast at our hotel we decided to see what the local places had to offer, and chose Mio Mondo, as it displayed a breakfasts at £5.95, but you need to look closer, as between 11 and 6 it’s £2 more, as found at the time of the bill....

Really like this place. Sitting in the outside area with the heating is just so relaxing. We have a favourite little spot which we call 'Our corner' Lattes are fab best we've had in Bowness and excellent value for money.

Worth stopping for excellent coffee and snacks. Staff are very welcoming and polite and helpful. you won't find any better.

We called in for a quick lunch whilst out and about and it was lovely we got a drink each and both had a cheese and ham toasty which came with a side salad and coleslaw and it was lovely real thick pieces of ham really tasty dressing on the salad. Will definitely be calling back here again as it's an excellent place to eat.

Great food reasonable prices. Sell the best hot chocolate I’ve tasted in my life which is thick and tasty almost like a mousse. Scenery is okay but nice cosy little place for a nice lunch! Excellent friendly staff.

This place is great! Family friendly, lovely atmosphere. Heaters and blankets for the outside tables which is great for early mornings or chilly evenings. Food was beautiful and made to perfection. The staff clearly cares for their customers, we were always made welcomed here and looked after well. Definitely will be coming here again whenever in the area. Could not recommend more!!

Popped in for a take away coffee for my husband and couldn’t resist picking up a cake for the boat trip- It was delicious! Raspberry and almond tart I think it was. My husband said the coffee was lovely too! The photo doesn’t do it justice!

We sat in the outside area where we were kept warm with blankets and the over head heaters, the weather was not kind today but having these luxuries at Mio Mondo made the experience far more enjoyable. My partner had the strawberry milkshake and was well worth the £3.50 (see picture) we both had the Stilton and bacon burger and it was absolutely gorgeous, presentation of the food wasn’t anything fancy but the food was super tasty. Our little pup was made to feel welcome too and even enjoyed a cold sausage to distract him from our own dinner. Can highly recommend the food and service at Mio Mondo!

Hammering it down with rain and we stumbled upon mondo in the middle of bowness. Lovely little cosy bistro cafe without door seating and heating. They even give you blankets on the chairs outside. Food was lovely and the service was fantastic. Will deffo come again.

This was our 5th visit of the year, this time their was 8 of us, we cycle from Chorley 60 miles away. We always get great service and great food here, staff are always happy and the added bonus of a refill bottle inside the cafe.

Last day of our holiday in The Lakes, so decided to have a full English, as we rarely have one at home. On arrival, friendly staff, nice and clean. Ordered two Full English and two coffees. Coffee was delicious and hot, the breakfast was tasty, good sausage & bacon. Very relaxed atmosphere. Good price too.
