Baps and cooked English breakfast tasty though not overly substantial for the full cooked. Toast a little soggy. Coffee wasn’t the best. Not that hot despite asking for extra hot and taste wasn’t great for the latte. Burnt pain au chocolat needed sending back for non burnt one but why serve up in the first place?

Went today for coffee and maybe a cake for a treat, I shouldn't as I'm diabetic, but needed a treat! The cake was an excellent surprise, really, really nice and an excellent coffee to go with it - Illy, our favourite. Lovely friendly and helpful staff made us welcome, and were very chatty and pleasant. Excellent little cafe, highly recommended.

5 stars to the property and also to the staff! We stayed 5 nights in the Rydal Room. The room is large, with a small-ish four poster bed and two single beds. All the beds were very comfortable, with supportive mattresses and cozy blankets and sheets. The bathroom is modern, though the plumbing is not - it takes a couple of minutes for the hot water to flow, but that's a small inconvenience. The toiletries and towels are all high quality The inn is genuinely old-world charming - wooden everything, including the creaky floors. The breakfast is pretty good. Yoghurt and cereal, plus a cooked breakfast of choice - 6 options, and all were thoroughly satisfactory. The lunch and dinner menus are small, as should be expected in such an establishment, but everything we ordered over 4 meals (and three people = 12 different orders) was excellent. Kudos to the chefs!! Finally, the staff are rock stars who round out the experience so perfectly. Warm, friendly, and incredibly hardworking, they made our stay so comfortable, we did not want to leave. The location is pretty good - about halfway between the villages of Ambleside and Grasmere, both of which are a long (for me) walk away. Rydal Water is just across the street, good for swimming, a picnic, and walks around the lake. We loved our stay here, and will be back for sure.

Popped in on a Monday after a weekend of hiking for a coffee and a relax, lady working behind the bar was lovely and accommodating. I also overheard the couple next to us praise her. Coffee was perfect and playlist that was playing was incredible so props to the creator of that, you have amazing taste :)

What a disappointment, we had been in for drinks at the beginning of the week and sat out in the lovely garden, so we thought we would go there for the last night of our holiday, when we tried to book they said they didn’t take bookings from non residents and just to show up making us aware that 6.30 to 7pm was their busy times, we showed up at 5.45, went to the bar to request a table and was told to find one for ourselves that wasn’t already reserved, after walking round at least twice we went back to the bar to say there wasn’t any suitable, instead of helping us we were told to keep looking, we found a table that was in front of the bar but the table was pushed up against a wall so we had limited space. When we ordered at the bar we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip. The meal came within 5 minutes and small portions and not very tasty. Totally not worth the money (or tip). We will not be going back there, such a disappointing end to our otherwise lovely holiday

Beautiful sunny day, so big queues, only team of two, front of house - so appreciate they were under pressure. Ordered coffees and a scone to takeaway. Had to return to ask for sugar and spoon. Got sugar, but no spoon. Coffee was ok. Menu says scones have cream and homemade jam, my takeaway scone had only butter. It was a lovely fruit scone, but was like a fireball, had been over microwaved, too hot, then hard. Was overcharged £5, too. Real shame!

Not great, lady serving said she was too busy to take an order without a table number - despite only 6 tables to choose from and my saying we would look out for it. Walked back downstairs out of building to garden to check table number then soup was salty and scone was damp (microwaved?)

A stupendously friendly local watering spot to frequent after showering off in the Ghyl on the descent of a spontaneous weekly hike/Scramble. The eloquent handsome young Christopher is going to be sadly missed, as he starts his tour of the relatively so called New Found Land. But this is life, the best education can only begot by travelling 🧳, and that’s not just an opinion. But based on empirical research from living firstly in Berlin for five years and followed by nearly two decades of life in tropical far north Australia 🌴. Have a great trip Chris 🌏

I've been a regular at Costa Coffee in Ambleside for some time now, and each visit reaffirms why I keep coming back. The staff are consistently friendly and accommodating, always greeting customers with a warm smile. Despite the occasional busyness, they manage to serve efficiently without compromising on quality.
