The best restaurants serving Other cuisines food in Ambleside and Grasmere South Lakeland North West

Couldn’t fault it. This was my first Michelin experience. Every single dish was beautiful. The price is actually cheap for how amazing the food is. Well worth it.

First class friendly welcoming service and superb fresh food. Quiche with spinach and broad beans was exceptional. Husband had the pea soup, also very good. Not our first visit and look forward to coming back 😋

Lovely bacon sandwich. The Ciabatta was fluffy and crispy. Really good. The side of halloumi was lovely too

Very kind people, with my three boys and two dogs. A little stressful with traffic etc but the staff were lovely and helpful.

We called in for coffee and cake and saw they had a gluten free board so we ordered. They said it would be a short delay cos they keep gluten free separate which we understood. Ten minutes later they came back to the table to say that they were unable to reach the freezer at the bottom of the stairs so it will be a little longer. So we waited and 10 minutes later they brought out the drinks and my wife;s scones and said unfortunately they were unable to get the gluten free option for me. So we consumed our drinks etc - obviously not happy with the scenario but to add insult to injury when I went to pay they informed me that they had now got the gf cake and defrosted it and would I like to take for later - expecting me to pay for it

We visited this restaurant during our trip to the Lake District and ordered the spicy hummus toasted sandwich. Unfortunately, it was quite average and didn't meet our expectations. The chicken tasted bland, as if it was simply boiled and possibly store-bought, lacking freshness and flavor. The spicy hummus itself did not taste like traditional hummus and lacked authenticity. The sandwich would have greatly benefited from being juicier and having more sauce, making it more enjoyable and flavorful. On the positive side, the staff were nice, although they could enhance their hospitality by being a bit more welcoming and smiling, as warmth and friendliness are crucial in the service industry. Overall, our experience was average, and there’s definitely room for improvement.

We chose the 12 course meal with an added course and dessert, and it was worth every penny! Every plate was beautifully plated, and phenomenal. The head chef, James came out to explain several of the dishes in detail, from what makes the ingredient unique, to how it was sourced and prepared. The explanations of every dish made this a fascinating experience that set it apart from other Michelin restaurants since it’s never the chef, and the plates are not always explained in detail. The other servers/chef were all kind and friendly as well. We also loved how certain ingredients were paired with preparations that you would never think of, such as pea miso or barley koji. Being Japanese, I loved how old Japanese methods were used on untypical ingredients. Lastly, James and Darren (sommelier) chose a few wines for us, and they went perfectly with our meal. The wine pairing would be a good choice at this restaurant. The dishes are spaced with enough time that you wouldn’t have to rush drinking every glass, and their wines are incredible. If you are visiting Ambleside, this restaurant is a must! It was the highlight of our time in the UK, and will definitely be back if we’re ever in Ambleside again.

Worth popping for a coffee and a cake. We had a vegatable pastie and a cake. Great coffee and polite freindly staff. Seating inside and out.

Lovely italian restaurant. Had been moving my daughter into accommodation all day and was starving! They fitted us in, as didn't book. Staff were very friendly and food was lovely. Thank you so much.

A wide variety of sweet treats on offer, all great quality. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The place was clean and bright. I highly recommend hot chocolate and Bailey's Cheesecake.

The lamb was absolutely delicious 😋 and service was friendly and they let my doggie in.

This is a lovely, albeit small, cafe. The views are amazing, if you're lucky enough to get an outdoor table. The blueberry scones are amazing. I always visit if I'm in the area.

Stunning setting, fantastic friendly staff and wonderful food. The owners clearly know what’s what. Sat outside with our dog in-tow - sunny day. You must have lunch here.

We have been to the picnic box on many occasions now, every time we visit Ambleside! We normally buy jacket potatoes and the home-made fillings are amazing both in quantity and quality. The overall price of the food makes this an extremely good value lunch. We will continue to use this as as our go to lunch when in Ambleside

So glad we found this fantastic cafe/restaurant! When looking for a nice walking route with our children I came across this reviewed highly on trip advisor so thought we’d walk up and try it! Wow, amazing views from the dining area and extremely tasty food! We only had breakfast/brunch but what did have was enjoyed by all! Friendly helpful staff too. Well worth a visit!!
