Very good takeaway coffee. On our way into the Penrith Museum we passed this coffee ‘van’. The Museum didn’t mind us taking our drinks in as we looked around. A perfect pick-me up on a wet morning!

4 of us ordered food, 2 jackets, 1 combi platter which all felt like frozen items fried and served with salad, not great but not terrible either. I ordered a cheese and onion pie with gravy as it was on the menu, I just said pie and pointed to it so didn't think to specify, 25 minutes wait later our food turned up and I got cottage pie put in front of me, they offered to change it for me but because everyone else had their food after a wait I felt obligated to accept it and it wasn't nice, the mince had clearly been defrosted as the mince beef clumped up. Felt really shitty eating it as I really fancied a cheese pie. The server hadn't bothered to clarify which pie I wanted not did they repeat the order back to us as the order was taken, poor customer service if you ask me. We won't be back. The venue was nice, the staff were friendly but oversights like this ruin the experience. Cottage pie would have been the last thing I would have ordered, I really really dislike it, but of course I'm too English to send it back. Nor did they offer to knock anything off the bill for the mess up.

We had a fantastic meal at the Dog and Gun for our anniversary. The food and service were both excellent. It is a small venue but that adds to its charm. The front of house lady was amazing. She was down to earth and very generous with her time, explaining the menu and the wine choices for each course. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing. There were some genius pairings that introduced us to wines we would not normally have tried. We enjoyed discussing which was our favourite dish, our favourite wine and our favourite pairing. I really don’t want to say anything negative but if I’m honest I’d say there was a little too much. (Did I say that out loud?). They could have lost a course or two and I would still be raving about it but I suppose that’s why it’s a special treat.

We visited for lunch with our toddler. There’s a very wide reasonably priced menu for adults plus kids options. We had baguettes & beans on toast plus drinks and all enjoyed our food. The service was quick, the place was clean and I liked you can see in the kitchen to the food being made too. There a lots of tables, it’s nice to know a place you can usually get a table in.

Went in with wife I had chicken potato and tarragon pie with mash and veg, she had jacket potato and tuna mayo with salad. All excellent and including coffee cost £21. Polite staff, very clean.

Was really disappointed heard so much about this place and really wanted to take my family as we went out for a evening meal staff extremely rude there was this one nonprofessional lady called Amy that was very rude and very unprofessional. The rest of the staff looked like they just left school and was very shy to speak which is fine just when you’re asking questions questions you would like them to be answered Will not be visiting back very disappointed

Popped into the Morrisons cafe, for a spot of lunch before travelling home. I selected the ultimate fish and chips, the picture showed a piece of fish that hung over the sides at both ends of the plate, with stacks of chips. My wife asked if I would like bread and butter as well, I replied no looking at the size of that fish it would just be pure greed, My wife ordered the smaller portion for herself. When it arrived my portion of fish sat comfortably on the plate not even touching the sides of it. The chips were a child's portion at best. My wife's was served up on what can only described as a side plate, and it didn't even fill that. Probably the last time I will consider thinking about popping in there, a shame as we are regularly in Penrith, I would say 4-5 days a month.
