Morrisons Cafe Penrith in Eden

Popped into the Morrisons cafe, for a spot of lunch before travelling home. I selected the ultimate fish and chips, the picture showed a piece of fish that hung over the sides at both ends of the plate, with stacks of chips. My wife asked if I would like bread and butter as well, I replied no looking at the size of that fish it would just be pure greed, My wife ordered the smaller portion for herself. When it arrived my portion of fish sat comfortably on the plate not even touching the sides of it. The chips were a child's portion at best. My wife's was served up on what can only described as a side plate, and it didn't even fill that. Probably the last time I will consider thinking about popping in there, a shame as we are regularly in Penrith, I would say 4-5 days a month.

Couldn’t find ONE clean tray in the stack , asked girl with attitude on the till if I could have the tray cleaned she proceeded to pick up a cloth & wipe the underneath of the tray then top of tray ( surely other way round would be sensible !) a trainee waitress ( who was lovely ) brought some of the trays & miss attitude told her just to take them back ! I asked to speak to the manager & was told abruptly “OK THEN “ an older lady came & said “ they go through the dishwasher , they’re old ….these trays needed scrubbed ! Cutlery was sticky too ! Fish was very nice , chips were horrible , soft & luke warm . Lady came out of kitchen & told someone on next table that she’d have to order something else because they hadn’t any jacket potatoes …..it’s Morrisons “SUPERMARKET “for goodness sake ! The waitress who was training couldn’t have been nicer .

We stopped for a quick bite on the way to Scotland, and it wasn't pleasant . The tables and floor were filthy. A waitress came to clean the table next to us, and all she did was take the dirty dishes away. She didn't wipe the table or sweep the floor. A lot of the tables were the same . Obviously short staffed. The food on arrival wasn't very appealing either. It just appeared to be thrown on the plates. I complained afterwards but I'm not holding my breath.

very rude and incompetent waitresses. till was down and my cake came cold when i asked for it warm. refused to heat up when i asked numerous times. she made it seem as if warming it up was an inconvenience to her. waitresses were stuck in the kitchen, and never cleaned the dirty tables for the whole duration we were there. not the first time that waitresses at morrisons have been rude and arrogant. would not recommend

Dirty tables, rude staff and slow service,fried bread overcooked to the point of being inedible. Not what I'd hoped for. Love shopping at Morrisons but the cafe really needs sorting out.

Came for a quick bite to eat, worst decision I made that day. Ordered at the computer - 2 roast dinners as they looked good on the posters dotted around the place, a kids chicken nugget meal and a large fish and chips. We went to find a clean table and in the end had to wipe one ourselves. A member of staff came to tell us they weren’t serving roast dinners today and we would have to choose something else. This meant rejoining a long que. Eventually we were seen at the til. I requested a cheeseburger and small fish and chips instead. I then noticed that one or two families who were behind me in the queue were served before us. Eventually the small fish and chips and a very dry plain burger arrived. The member or staff asked what was missing I told her and she went to tell the chef I presume. The lady who was waiting for food behind us received her food and asked where the gravy was to which she’s was told they had none! I mean we are sat in the middle of a supermarket. Anyway she returned it and asked for something else. By this time we’d had enough and time was getting on we had other places to be and it had been 45 mins since the original order. Asked for our money back and went and bought some pastries from greggs.

Arrived here for breakfast on 14/09/23. Service till not working and computer screen ordering difficult to follow. No hot drinks available - had to make our own with instant coffee jar! Staff complacent and not interested in unsatisfactory situation.Food quality poor.

It took a couple of minutes for the cashier to notice me standing at the till because she was doing something else nearby. I felt a bit patronised when she told me to put the number plate in the thingy on the table, because I've been to a dozen Morrison cafes and they're all the same. Meal took 14 minutes to arrive, the chicken was only tepid it should have had an extra couple of minutes in the microwave. The place was clean and tidy.

Called here for lunch whilst awaiting a train for eldest son .We had 2 ultimate breakfasts ,tuna mayo in jacket potato with salad.2 cappuccinos and tropicana .Based on the price service and food I would have to rate as excellent

I would not even give it one star. Went in on Wednesday 4th January. Had to wait at the till for ages for service . The man was very I don't care attitude. He took someone there food while we where sat down . Turned round and said ffs. If he doesn't want to be there get a new job . Also cafe was an absolute mess

My husband and I were staying in Penrith on holiday. We popped into Morrisons for some bits for tea but ended up having tea in the cafe. There was a good variety especially as I'm vegetarian. Hubby had all day brunch and I had the cheese and onion quiche. We didn't wait too long at all and were really surprised at how much food we were served. We were both very full and the food was nice. Each meal was £7.49. We also got the standard bottle of Coke zero each which at £1.70 a bottle was expensive. That was our only moan. There was just 1 member of staff at the front and he was pleasant. Would we use again, most definitely.

Hubby and I love Morrisons as a supermarket and we're always in there but we'll not be going back to their cafe's. They used to do lovely meaty breakfasts for hubby and lovely veggie/vegan for me, decent sized portions, cooked property, hot, tasty etc. but over the past few months they've gone way down hill. At our last visit on 3/7/22, hubby said his bacon ''tasted like it had been left on the floor for a few hours'' and wasn't cooked properly. We both had mushrooms but after having 1/2 of one each, we couldn't touch the rest as they were hardly cooked, swimming in oil and slimy, they actually made us heave. The chips were dry and tasteless, hash browns were vile, my veggie sausages were dry as was hubby's meaty sausages. Nothing on both our plates was actually hot, it was all barely luke warm. My fried egg was barely edible. Everything looked like it had just been dumped on the plates instead of put on property. Baked beans were hardly cooked. We left quite a bit of food, just couldn't touch it. The portion size seems to be getting smaller too. Sorry, Morrisons, we do love you but your cafe meals needs drastic improving! Not far from £20.00 wasted for us both.

Food ok but poached eggs not good, good choice , one member of staff no manners spoke to us and others with attitude and wasn't helpful not the first time ,tried to complain didn't get any joy , so gonna complain via email

No sugar for hubbies coffee...I mean your in Morrisons who sell sugar just go get some...sat down at table..it was covered in crumbs looked round at other empty tables and they were all the same..not 1 clean table and it wasn't busy...food arrived pretty quick Nd was nice

Most of the tables had dirty crocs. Took so long to get 2 people through till the people in front of us gave up. Ordered 2 soups, one hot, one came lukewarm so I sent it back to reheat. Partner finished his before it came back and then it was so incredibly hot (clearly over heated in mocrowave) that I couldn't touch it for 10 minutes. Cafe was pretty empty. Won't bother to use Morrison's cafe again. Disappointed.

Order food at 9:11, didn't receive until 9:47. I basically waited 36 minutes for poached egg on toast just for it to be cold and very rubber like. The 'toast' was very chunky and was not even toast it was barley toasted and was just bread with butter on it. Plus the full breakfast was cold and didn't taste nice at all.

Arrived on our bikes for a breakfast,looking forward to a full English ordered 2 brekkies and 2 teas went to do the teas found no sugars asked staff said they would sort it ten minutes later still no sugar!! Breakfast finally arrived 35 mins after order looked good till my friend says where’s our black puddin walked back to counter and informed young girl we’ve no black puddin she say oh yeh we’ve not got non !! But I’ve paid for it I said she just laughed and walked in the back 😳😳 last time we meet there,not enough staff and some of the staff that are there don’t want to be!! Love a morri’s brekkie will stick to kendal in future 😞

Visited here before tier 4 lockdown. They've limited the menu but still a good choice. The staff were all covid aware and put me at ease. I ordered the Southern fried chicken burger with cheese and chips. It was very tasty. The chicken wasn't dry...

Morrisons' Cafe's are always good value. Penrith proved to be just the same, good service and food, and very reasonable prices. Staff were very attentive and helpful, and the standards of sanitizing etc was first class, and could not be faulted. Well done to all,...

Popped in several times recently after shopping just for a coffee and snack, found every visit cafe not clean,poor unfriendly staff,visit today 03/01/2020 lady on till was told 3 times by customer infront of me that coffee machines were out of milk, not interest whatsoever,...

The attitude of the waiters the staff is very very rude calling for a meal after 3 to get a deal she said it didn't start 4 the advertising boards got three of clock on it appears your staff needs more training. Or new staff...

Visited with my wife whilst visiting Penrith. Reasonable choice of food at decent prices but very slow service and unacceptable cleanliness with tables left uncleaned by staff throughout our visit which was quite a long time due to slow service.

Went for some dinner as we were travelling back to doncaster. Had fish and chips didnt think too much as kept seeing odd fly. Until sat down and looked up it was infested with flys all around lights.you can expect some flys with doors left...

Excellent customer restaurant in Morrisons, Penrith. Quick service, great prices and pleasant staff. Would visit again if near Penrith in future.

No gluten free options so foster carer had to buy her own gluten free bread, distgusting tables and poor quality milk. Dissapointing of Morrison's, very dissapointing

Last minute lunch on way to the lakes whilst filling the car with shopping. Wish we’d just bought a sandwich. Arrived at 1.15pm so would expect decent availability.... We were wrong ....I wanted an omelette...according to self serve till out of stock...second choice quiche...out of...

Can't fault the staff who served us in morrisons at Penrith, really helpful, food was lovely n service great, didnt cost a fortune n was a decent plateful, definitely worth a look in. 😊

So disappointed, I ordered lasagne and chips ,my expectations were not high! And that's good as the lasagne just tasted of lamb fat! No other flavour not even cheese of any kind , chips , well , how can you serve well cooked looking chips...

Great Breakfast, very quick service,great value and good portions, well presented, friendly staff,clean surroundings

We were looked after by Eileen, who sorted us out and made sure we got a sweet as well as a main course. The meal came promptly and it was good. The staff were friendly and most amenable. We shall return.

We popped in for a tea & cake, and had a cream tea instead. It was very cheap, and surprising nice. Lady who served us was very pleasant and jovial. Cafe was clean.

Had to wait a long time at the till whilst a member of staff finished off what she was doing there - then she told me someone else would be with me. Took a whiley, but all was done politely and friendly. Food was as I'd expect - standard. Convenient and easy to find enroute South form Scotland.

Went for breakfast /lunch at the weekend, staff were really friendly and helpful, couldn't fault them, food was really nice and prices are reasonable . Would definitely return.

Made a quick stop here to use the loo and have a coffee and snack. Plenty on offer in this typical Morrisons Cafe. Convenient for the main store too.

Visiting the area and stuck for somewhere to park we called in at Morrisons and decided to eat there are it was convenient. Very happy with the choices available and the service was pretty good. Not particularly quick but that seemed to be down to the fact the food we chose was freshly prepared and hadn't been cooked earlier. So that was positive.

Good value breakfast but not fine cuisine. Service and quality depends on staff on duty at time of visit. Slow service if busy or staff confused.

I went here recently and had one of their big breakfasts. The cafe area was reasonably pleasant and fairly clean and tidy. The staff were nice and friendly. The service was ok. The food was alright.

One of the best Morrisons cafe in this area in fact we use them in the Manchester and fife areas as we get about with our work a lot.great choice for all,young or older,kept very clean with staffing that enjoy their work,always made welcome.

Ordered food which came quite quick, ordered chicken nuggets & chips for my son which came with beans on, told them he didn't like them so they took it away. Took 15mins to bring another meal I thought they had gone to workington for it. No one serving n queue building up. Staff no good

Went to this cafe for a hot chocolate, drink was nice but could be better. Service was good but then the machine which was dispensing the hot chocolate barely works. The staff have to keep banging the machine to get it working and also there is flys everywhere!

Very nice and fresh. good price and good size portion. Quick service and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Came in here for a late tea on a Friday night and wasn't expecting it to be so good. Fish and chips with peas and scampi and chips with sweetcorn, and 2 drinks for £11, not bad at all.

We stopped here en route to The Trossachs for a holiday and had a lovely breakfast. The quality and value was really good and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We definitely recommend.

Nos detuvimos para una porción de tarta y bebida caliente aquí. Cuando nos dieron nuestra comida mi mujer iba a conseguir leche pero había ahora, un viejo señora estaba esperando que, sin personal para ser visto. Mi esposa gritó a alguien, pero me dijeron QUE TENGO QUE ESPERAR sin siquiera preguntar lo que ella requiere de una mujer mayor en la cocina.

Llamamos aquí para una comida mientras estábamos en Penrith, había 30 minutos + espera a comida caliente. No había suficientes cubiertos para así algunos clientes tuvieron que comer con los dedos. El sucio trolley ollas estaba tan lleno que había bandejas llenas de ollas en el suelo y windowsills.

Visitamos aquí una tarde para disfrutar de una comida, tuvimos que esperar más de media hora para la comida, algunos de los clientes tenía que comer con los dedos debido a que no están siendo suficientemente cubiertos. Había ollas en el suelo.

Después de una noche muy fría de camping, llamado para el desayuno. El desayuno era razonable, pero lo más importante fue servido caliente. Bien hecho Morrison

My sister and I took the kids to lunch on the way to center parcs whin fell forest. We ordered chicken nuggets and chips, 2 sausage mash and Yorkshire pudding and 2 chicken pieces and chips. The food took a while to come and when arrived was hot and tasty. Having read bad reviews on her I wasn't expecting a nice meal but we all enjoyed our food.

Cold morning,quick Pitstop for a cooked breakfast at a bargain basement price.Hot food ,quickly served and hit the spot .

Popped into cafe before doing shopping. Ordered 2 big breakfasts for me and the Husband. Waited just over half an hour. Food arrived. Eggs rock hard, cold and rubbery. Baked beans were cold, dry and crusty. Tomato was shrivelled and cold. Hash browns, overcooked and cold .... you get the picture! I sent both meals back. Awaiting freshly cooked replacements! 20 minutes later, a bit better this time around although 1 slice of bacon stone cold, as were the mushrooms. Won't be back. Oh must say got a free cup of coffee, wow!

I visit here nearly everyday for my business fresh friut and veg the staff very friendly and helpful especially malcomb who deals with the car park and trolleys he is always very helpful to customers and is a good asset to to morrisons always goes out if his way to help people sometimes the staff on cigarette counter under pressure due to staff shortage but always welcomed with a smile

Your normal Morrisons, great range of food, helpful staff and a large carpark.Also has a fuel station and walking distance from the town centre.

We called in our way home from a stay at Center Parcs for a breakfast butty. Staff are attentive, service was quick and efficient and the order was correctly served to us.

Stopped off at Morrisons for a meal of fish and chips. Good value but not sure if the fish was Pollock. Would go again if in the vicinity.

Absolutely terrible . The only thing I ate different to the rest of my family and I was the only one who was violently ill . Spent Christmas Eve in the toilet and Christmas Day feeling terrible . The sandwich was a BLT and wasn't pleasant going in ( only ate bits of it round the brown lettuce ) much worse coming out . Thank god the kids didn't have any .

Plenty of free parking, easy access, and friendly staff and everything was clean and tidy.Good choice of food at very reasonable prices and served quickly.

I't a supermarket so don't expect fine dining. But a full english or baked beans and chips etc it's very cheap with big portions and exceptionally clean.

We didn't know where to eat so headed for Morrison's and headed in time the cafe before shopping. There was plenty if choice and I thought it was reasonably priced too. Thoroughly enjoyed my Omelette and muffin, not to mention the delicious hot chocolate. Hard to fault, based on this visit.

Having to feed a 16 month old celiac while shopping nothing is suitable. stated chips cooked in separate oil obviously not as had a ill toddler later on in the day

We have dined in the restaurant a few times now - food is always lovely and hot. We recently went in for pudding, our little boy wanted a chocolate sundae - which was massive for him lol but he ate it all - it looked lovely :) .. staff are always pleasant and friendly.Would always recommend :)

The fish and chip meal is fantastic Twice in the last couple of weeks we have had the same item ,perhaps thinking the first visit was a one off .Well it wasnt .The lightly battered fish was done to a turn with lovely white flakes of fish inside .Go to the top of the class .Its twice as good as most fish and chip meals served up in other local pubs/restaurants/ cafes.and half the price

Stopped here as I have enjoyed fish & chips here, I was so dissapointed with what I was served! I will not be eating here again not only did it look poor it wasn't hot and tasteless! My husband had steak and ale pie, he also said it was only warm and referred to it as steak and ail pie! First time in year's we have been dissapointed in Morrisons, but as we were very hungry we just made the best of it!

Went here with family after shopping. It was a nice meal and we didn't wait long. Food is a bit pricey. Seemed slightly understaffed but not bad. Great food. :-)

Have eaten here a few times, Somewhat reminds me of my school canteen, the food has always been hot and served in a timely manner, I did note last time there was more batter than fish, if your looking for something cheap and cheerful Morrisons café is the place for you, If you do have a long wait than normal don't be afraid to go to customer service ask for the General Manager Gary wilding and get refund.

Had a chicken club sandwich from the self serve cafe. It tasted particularly good. Stand Morrisons decor and surrounding which is better than there rivals .. but is a cafe after all.

The last time I had a dish this good, it cost me £25-00 ! I could not have enjoyed a meal more !It was served in good time, despite the store being busy, and arrived hot and well presented.A pleasure to eat....cannot praise it enough.

I didn't have any cash on me so it was the only place I could park for free.I went for Fish and Chips with baked beans and a portion of curry sauce.The fish was nice, it didn't look nice but to be fair it was cooked to perfection.The beans tasted nice but they looked like they had sat on the plate for a month!The curry sauce was a really measly portion and why did I have to pay for tarte sauce?I hate the way some of these cafes give portions of sauce, whats wrong with a bottle.I had to search for cutlery without dried food stuck to it (sack the dishwasher or buy a new one)The service was reasonably quick and the carrot cake I had for desert was nice.I would say you get what you pay for but it wasn't cheap, I should have found a chippy!To summarize Morrison's will never win any prizes for presentation, they need to up their game with cleanliness, stop being so tight with the sauce packets and curry sauce portions, reduce their prices and by a new dishwasher!

The staff are friendly but the food is terrible, the only good thing was the apple juice. We have eaten in a couple of morrisons and the food is cheap and cheerful usually but this was really bad. I had one of the breakfasts and i honestly didn't think it was possible for it to be so bad but it was. My son had one of the burgers and he couldn't eat it, it was truly awful. Even for the price, it just wasn't worth it, it would be better paying a little bit more and being able to eat it.

Just what you would expect. First time eating a Morrisons supermarket. Kids loved it and affordable with free kids meals weekdays.

We've been coming here for the past three years as we travel quite far to visit center parcs. Before we go we always do a food shop and have breakfast in the morning. This year there were 14 of us and we all had the 'big breakfast' and 'scrambled eggs' - the big breakfast; greasy French toast, hard eggs and fatty cold bacon. Scrambled eggs; burnt toast and the scrambled egg easily mistakable as mashed potato!Staff; cashier,- rude incapable of humour or any human emotion -_-Waitress; Mardy, cold and rude! Slamming plates on the tables, completely unhelpful and very abrupt! Won't be having breakfast here next year!!

Had breakfast in this cafe yesterday and wished I hadn't bothered. Although the service was very quick the "Big Breakfast" was a let down. Cold hash browns, cold bacon, mushrooms that tasted like they had been cooked in cheap margarine. The eggs and beans were lukewarm. I've eaten here a few years ago and it was lovely and the breakfast hot, whilst in the area we decided to return as we knew what we would be getting. It's gone downhill and I wouldn't return, had it not been for the fact we were in a hurry I would have returned the breakfast and asked for a hot replacement. The latte was nice.

We called in for a cuppa (have done so on other occasions as well) and a cake. The ladies who worked there were absolutely lovely. Very friendly, smiley and helpful. We had a chat with one lady (short, dark hair) and we all ended up laughing together. Great way to start our weekend away (we were staying with friends nearby). Will definitely go again, next time we visit. Our friends really like the cafe too and they quite regularly pop in for a cake and cuppa when they are doing their shopping.

We called in for some shopping, the restaurant looked really good and we decided to eat there rather than find somewhere else. We were pleased that we did, we enjoyed the good value food and would recommend it.
