Went in with wife I had chicken potato and tarragon pie with mash and veg, she had jacket potato and tuna mayo with salad. All excellent and including coffee cost £21. Polite staff, very clean.

The young guy behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. We just got 2 pqninis and coffees but they were very tasty. The panini's were delicious and the coffees were absolutely huge! It was a very comfortable, friendly and reasonably priced cafe.

My partner and 2 children stopped here for a drink and cake. The man serving was helpful, but I was disappointed when I tried to ask for tap water with ice for the children. He said he couldn't provide the water and I would need to buy a bottle of water. I had already ordered a coffee, a soft drink and 2 cakes. It was also an extremely hot day. I remembered we had some water in our bag and so I said they could just have that. He then was going to throw the ice back and not give us a glass. As the children were so hot, I said I would have to buy a bottle because they would like the ice to cool them down. I find it very difficult to believe they had no drinking water in the cafe! I just feel it was extremely stingy to not give me tap water, or 2 glasses of ice! We were passing through Penrith, but when we pass through again, I won't be visiting.

Excellent service initially with cheerful staff working in punishing heat yet still happy to talk through the menu and the selection on offer. The coffee was very good, an oat cappuccino and latte well enjoyed. This is where the positives come to an abrupt end. As an employee in the food service industry I understand fully the pressures of the job, sometimes unseen by the public. Standards can be hard to meet but at all times, must. Upon our choice of ‘homemade’ pies and quiches (later to be informed that they are in fact bought in, despite the sign outside stating otherwise) we were greeted with lukewarm produce and later on a significant amount of fresh looking mould on the scotch pie received. Clearly the 3 days required by law before disposal, refrigeration temperature , and attention to detail from staff is severely lacking. A refund for the pie was offered and received gratefully with a genuine apology but there was no sign that the nearby produce was removed or not served to any further customers. Worrying. All of which should have been taken off sale immediately. To conclude I would warn the public of the standards on show and beware.

We stumbled across Wrights Coffee during a trip to the Lake District. We weren’t sure if we wanted coffee and cake or lunch - this place had it all (and so did we!) The staff were incredibly hospitable and welcoming. They offered custom made sandwiches, various salad and soup options. They kindly offered to make a sandwich that seemed to be sold out in addition to making a fresh sandwich with no cheese to accommodate a dietary requirement. The coffee and cakes were equally amazing. It was hard to decide which we wanted from such a big selection, but we were incredibly happy with our choice. Would definitely recommend a visit for friendly service, broad selection, great quality food and amazing value for money! If we find ourselves in Penrith, this will be the first place we choose to find!

On our way home from a weekend at Center Parcs, we stopped for a quick breakfast in Penrith. Luckily we found this little cafe. We had a bacon roll, bacon and egg roll, a latte and a mug of tea for less than £8! The rolls were lovely and fresh, and the drinks tasty and hot. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient, and the cafe had a relaxed feel to it. The cakes looked lovely, but they will have to wait for another visit!

A pleasure of a place to visit. The young man there was extremely helpful with my dietary restrictions, and the food when delivered was very good. Not many places where they don’t think you are from Mars when asking questions about their food

Whilst in Penrith for the day, as the Angel Lane fish bar only did takeaway, we decided to find somewhere else for lunch and found this place. Although we only had jacket potatoes with salad, what we can say they were absolutely delicious and the best we have tasted for a very long time. The service was great throughout. We would definitely return to this place the next time we are in the area.

My partner and I love it here, super friendly staff, delicious smoothies, fresh salad bar and superb food all round. My partner had the pulled pork baguette and I had the homemade spinach and stilton quiche, it was all so delicious. The staff were attentive, friendly and made our trip to Penrith. We would highly recommend and why not leave them a review too, they certainly deserve it. Thank you to the staff and chefs who made our day a good one.

Seriously great coffee, earlier opening hours than most places; not a dark roast that tastes burnt, good size and price, friendly staff and good location.

This place is lovely. Really welcoming staff and they are controlling the Covid-19 restrictions well. The cakes are to die for. My only quarrel was the vanilla milkshake wasn't very cold. The cafe is on the main strip of Penrith town centre which is perfect for a break whilst out shopping.

Had an excellent early supper, starters were beautiful, good selection, tasty and well presented . The mains, steaks and a roast dinner were equally good. Substantial portions and cooked exactly to our specifications. We had delicious desserts and everything was complemented by some very good wines. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The chef obviously uses quality ingredients and is extremely competent . Lovely ambience, delicious supper.

My husband and I spent a lovely evening on Christmas Eve enjoying the food and drinks, not having to worry about getting home. Christmas Day food was so delicious and definitely fantastic portion sizes.. I took home the same amount for the next day, which was also delicious. I took the pudding home, which was Christmas pudding, i would also like to add that was delicious and probably the best I have ever eaten so moist and enjoyed every mouthful. I would love the recipe as every bite was perfect. We also had cheese and biscuits, again portion size was amazing. We have enjoyed all the different cheeses, which took us a week to finish them. I would highly recommend this restaurant and team, food was served in what I would say with enough time in between the 5 courses for food to settle, unfortunately you will always get the moaners, that moaned about everything, from the restaurant temperature to the time in between courses. I have come across these clients in different restaurants and basically just wanting a free meal. Perfect is all I can say and would definitely recommend staying over for Christmas. The only fault on my part would be to stop over Christmas Day night too & enjoy a breakfast before going home.

I’ll come onto the food but experience ruined by the two landladies who seem to treat everyone except two locals with exasperation.. it’s almost like serving customers is a huge inconvenience to them, you walk in and there’s no welcome, it seems pulling a pint takes too much concentration to say hi. Instead of bringing a drink to our table (where we had ordered from) the landlady shouted over the bar and just left it there. I’ve had cheaper pints when I’m down in London too, extremely expensive. The pizzas are the saving grace, they are really good, interesting toppings and lovely dough used. Much better than the old menu!

Had an amazing dinner at the depot (the dining train becomes the depot in the winter and is in the building). The food was amazing, the wine was so good, the service was top notch and the space was very welcoming and cozy. Will definitely be back.
