delicious lunch, coffee and ice cream. Had the Frittata and salad from the specials board which was excellent. Came back after our tour of the hall and shops for the ice cream which was also very tasty. Esme was especially welcoming and friendly. The cafe is a real find.

We booked with the cafe after another local restaurant let us down. The team did everything possible to make a perfect afternoon tea. We loved it! Will certainly go back to try out the rest of the menu.

It really is! We've tried cheese scones in many cafés around the country but this is the best, both for texture and flavour. Tasty coffee too.

We'd already started the ploughmans for 2 when I took the photo below. Huge, warm bread and all really tasty. The children had the ultimate 5 cheese toastie - lived up to the billing. Big side salads come with the toasties, so not everyone was happy. Good selection of cakes and teas etc on site too. Good service, heartily recommend. NB if you have dogs they can't go in the cafe but you can sit under cover outside, or in the large dog crate provided (both our lurchers fitted comfortably).

This cafe within the Brougham Hall complex serves a selection of hot and cold drinks, scones, soup and a wide selection of sandwiches, toasties, panini etc. It’s a pleasant place to sit inside or at the outdoor tables, service is friendly and the staff helpful. The food is ok, the soup is homemade, the bread is too but a tad stodgy as it was lightly toasted then piled up so it went soggy. We had a selection of toasted sandwiches in our group and all came with different salad garnish - loads on one with vegetable crisps and blueberries, a little bit on another and none at all the last but both salad garnishes came with lashings of balsamic vinegar which pooled under the sandwiches - not everyone likes balsamic vinegar so it was a pity we weren’t asked if we wanted it added. A lovely setting and overall a pleasant lunch.

Enjoyed our tasty lunchtime bowl of soup and slice of cake in this very friendly, clean and festive tearoom. Sat by a warm and cosy log burner having walked across the snowy lawns and paths. We will return when you reopen in January.

Excellent coffee stop, lovely cakes, great staff. A real hidden gem and worth a visit. The home made soup is well worth making it a lunchtime stop!

Dog friendly cafe's are always welcome. I don't remember it by this name but it's the only one at Brougham Hall. Anyway, the one we visited was a wonderful small cafe and made the visit to Brougham Hall a pleasure.

I called in here after a trip to Sleddale Hall so I could visit Eden Brewery. After all the walking I was in need of a coffee and was tempted into a lovely bacon and egg sandwich. The setting in the castle is lovely and the ladies in the cafe were so friendly. This is a great place to visit with a pottery studio and brewery on site.

I visited Cafe Eden on a cold wet lunch time in January with my son who is one and a half. As a lady plus baby who like to lunch we have experienced a wide variety of kiddie menus / facilities in cafes, some good, others less so. Cafe Eden offer children half portions of their regular adult dishes for half price which is very economical and just the right size for a smaller tum. We both had cheese sandwiches with onion marmalade and both our plates were clean by the time we left - yum. My son's sandwich was served on an enamel -unbreakable plate (tick!), the lady who made it offered to toast his so the the melted cheese was easier for him to eat (tick) AND she made sure it had cooled down before she put it in front of him (really big tick). all in all it was a very pleasant lunch time place. We will certainly be eating there again.

The cafe is inside the courtyard of Brougham Hall and is very good. Everything seems to be homemade and I can especially recommend the fruit scones. The staff are very pleasant and to top it all the prices are very reasonable.

Had an excellent early supper, starters were beautiful, good selection, tasty and well presented . The mains, steaks and a roast dinner were equally good. Substantial portions and cooked exactly to our specifications. We had delicious desserts and everything was complemented by some very good wines. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The chef obviously uses quality ingredients and is extremely competent . Lovely ambience, delicious supper.

We go to The Bridge about 4 times per year. We are not very extravagant but when we do eat out we want it to be better than I can make at home. Any guest we bring with us all love it too. Every meal we’ve had here has been excellent! My favourites are Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé, The Seafood Linguini, my hubby loves the Fish & Chips (he has this every time he goes, lol) . My son loves the Squid starter and I also love the Pate when it’s on. I had a gorgeous fish course in spring but I forget the name of the fish which was the whitest fish I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Bridge Bistro.

If you like ice cream, you will love this place. Excellent range of superb ice cream at a very reasonable price. Great to be able to sit and enjoy it whilst looking over to the Pennines with the production team (Jersey cows) chomping away. Very friendly staff.

While looking for food we stumbled on this lucky find. The Bothy is a very welcoming themed cafe, due to most other venues in Kirby Stephen only serving drinks that day the bothy was busy but we still received a warm welcome and advised we would have a wait, we didn’t mind so placed our order. The food was different, not the cheapest but absolutely delicious, the staff even though very busy were so polite and kept us informed of progress with our order. A bit more of an offer for children would be a bonus.

Went in with wife I had chicken potato and tarragon pie with mash and veg, she had jacket potato and tuna mayo with salad. All excellent and including coffee cost £21. Polite staff, very clean.
