Pretty disappointed. Queued for 15min for hot drinks for an organised firework display. Lady on counter shouts down the very long queue she would only be serving for another 10min due to the fireworks starting shortly. Literally 2min later she announces she is finished. Understand there needs to be a cutoff, but basic time keeping and customer service would go a long way… incredibly a few minutes later after most of the queue has dispersed, including myself, she was serving again… Fireworks didn’t start when she was expecting I suppose, very very poor.

Absolutely shocking baguette for over £5 the very bare minimum inside first and last time going here for food

I think the price is a little high for what it is, a very small play area. The first time I went the food was great but has really gone downhill. There is no consistency e.g a children's crudite plate sometimes has double the amount, with bread and sometimes just a few bits of veg. The toasties are not toasted long enough. The big positive is that it feels much more 'grown up' than most equivalent places and is a very pleasant place to sit and have a drink, especially if you have kids who are old enough to do the soft play by themselves. My main beef with it though are that I have been treated very rudely by a staff member there.

Visited with friends on 27th December. None of us had been before and none of us had been to any of the unrelated previous incarnations at the venue. Unsure if it was the fact it was lunchtime we went but from the board outside we expected burgers, kebabs etc. We got a huge shock when we went in. The venue was small and nice enough although cold and it had an odd smell about it. There was a heater placed in the room which was chucking out a lot of heat but not enough to take the chill off the air. We ordered coffee and were told the coffee machine wasn't working, no problem im good with instant or whatever way you can make coffee, its all good with me. This coffee was awful though. It was hugely reminiscent of times gone by and going to an infamous near by greasy truckers café where the coffee only tasted of smokey bacon crisps. If it was instant coffee it had either gone off/was stale or just hideously cheap. Now onto the menu... all that was on there was sandwiches/nacho type things and the like with the only hot options being fish and chips or a fry up. Not what we expected from the board outside. We ordered and then waited. Waited. Waited some more and then to top it off we waited a bit more. 4 sandwiches and 1 fry up took almost an hour to reach us. Luckily we were busy catching up and the cocktails we had were nice enough although nothing special. When the food arrived it looked nicer than it tasted. My partner couldn't even eat his seafood open sandwich as he said there was too much mayo on it but the seafood was rubbery as if it was frozen but been over microwaved to defrost it. one thing I can say though was the one person who was working that day was lovely and very nice. All in all a shocking experience from a venue that is currently trying to provide something its failing at miserably. We wanted delicious food as shown on the facebook page in their pictures and the menu, we got a long wait, rubbery prawns and bacon coffee. Wont be going back at all.

Went in town to find this place but it is nowhere to be seen. I am not sure if this is a shop or a stall in market. But I would have given it 5 star if it actually existed. The photo is misleading. Will be visiting town again soon so hope to try some good coffee here.

The staff need to tie back their hair. Been in this new store couple times now and each time there are staff serving with long hair not tied back. YUCK!

This coffee bar in a busy commuter train station just outside Oxford does not accept Scottish banknotes. This is company policy that was quoted to me. Beware!

Evitar.

Having already tried breakfast at the neighbouring Willowbrook garden centre, we thought we would give the Blackdown breakfast a try. When we found the entrance we had to walk through all the departments till we finally arrived at the restaurant section. Despite the centre having several in-store clothing shops, the restaurant was definitely not on a par with other ‘destination’ centres. The breakfast itself was quite good, though toast was not offered as an option to fried bread, neither was there a choice as to how the eggs were cooked. The thing that struck me was that the restaurant was tired looking and not as clean as it could have been. Despite it being fairly early in the day, several tables had crumbs on them. The chrome frames of the tables were covered in smears and the backs of the leatherette chairs had marks on them. The overall effect was of ‘transport cafe’ rather than somewhere to ‘go for coffee/lunch’. A little bit of effort however could make this a nice place.

After a lengthy journey from Glasgow to Manchester, I found myself having a late-night meal at the Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport’s “The Grill” restaurant. I decided to enjoy a repast here following the front desk’s statement that the restaurant served up “classic English dishes;” thus, I figured this would be a grand opportunity to partake in some English fish & chips, which is exactly what I ordered. But more on that in a moment. The Crowne Plaza (Manchester Airport) describes The Grill thusly: “Stylish contemporary restaurant offering a wide choice of modern cuisine in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.” I’m not exactly sure what makes this establishment “stylish” or “contemporary.” To my mind it was quite generic, even for a hotel restaurant. It’s basically a large open space adjacent to the lobby. The main restaurant area is lined with small white-topped tables with black chairs. There’s sparse artwork on the walls, but it adds little to the overall atmosphere and environment. Indeed, even the hotel’s propaganda photos on their official website cannot properly hide the lifeless physical space. To The Grill’s credit, their dinner menu actually sounded attractive on paper. As noted above, I settled on their classic English fish & chips. The food came in good time and looked decent enough; however, appearances can be deceiving – as I quickly found out. My piece of fish was impressive in its size, BUT when I bit into said fish, not only did I almost break my teeth, but all I ended up getting was a mouthful of crunchy batter. It turns out that literally HALF the “piece of fish” was nothing more than batter . . . and the fish that was there was paper thin and dry (see photo). To add insult to injury, my steak fries were barely warm. I’d be doing readers a disservice if I failed to mention the service received during dinner. In short, it was ho-hum. I’d first intended to eat a meal at the Hotel Bar (located in the same space as The Grill, but separated by a brown railing enclosure); however, after sitting for about 10-minutes without any form of acknowledgement, I moved down in to the restaurant section. Here, service was rather cold. The server showed up to take my order and then disappeared until I flagged him down to satisfy my bill. For a 4-star hotel, their restaurant staff is pretty mediocre. What saves The Grill from the dreaded 1-star rating is the breakfast buffet I enjoyed the following morning. It was well laid out and easily beats any sort of breakfast buffet you might get in North America. It featured a nice assortment of pastries, jellies, eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, fruit juices, beans, tomatoes, sausages, breakfast spuds, ham and cold cuts. In short, I was left satisfied just before embarking upon my trans-Atlantic journey. FOOD: 2/5 SERVICE: 1/5 VALUE: 2.5/5 RECOMMENDATION: I’m not sure if I just chose the wrong item, but the fish & chips that were had here was nothing short of abysmal. I can honestly say I’ve had better fish out of the grocer’s freezer. Breakfast, though, was decent. In the unlikely event I attend the Crowne Plaza (Manchester Airport) again, I would likely patronize Sampans Oriental Restaurant because at least their propaganda photos look appealing. Hotel very tired and dated. Need’s refurbishment. Beds comfy and everything you needed for an overnight stay. However would be very reluctant to stay here again or any other Days Inn.

Clinical, uncomfortable. Feels like it’s trying to be a chain or something. Food distinctly home made - as in you could do it yourself. Also, certainly the Saturday morning staff using choice language. Will not be back!

Visit on a Sunday with my wife and 2 grown up boys. Whilst waiting and waiting, I noticed the menu stated 500 ml’s fizzy drinks were £2. However in the fridge the soft drinks were all 330 ml’s. I told the lady who was serving and she went to the kitchen, came back with a cloth and scrubbed the 500 ml’s out to leave Fizzy Drinks £2. Absolutely outrageous. My son had a piri piri chicken wrap and threw it away as it was so bad. They forgot the chips and I had to remind them twice. A complete shambles. Food and service at Hainault is nicer, cheaper and better.
