The best restaurants serving Mediterranean food in Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh and Lothian

We ate here for my wife's birthday, oh what a fantastic choice. It is BYOB which is a nice change , the food was absolutely fantastic. The owner is so nice and helpful . He has as well as the restaurant a selection of deli products on sale for you to take away and try to replicate the dishes on the menu, a must in my view.

I love that Edinburgh now has take-away that doesn't involve food saturated in grease. The cauliflower Mac and cheese is delicious as are the prawns. My partner had the pork belly and dauphinoise potatoes, said he couldn't fault it! Thanks back burner!

The food was nice. Quite pricey for what you get and we had an uncooked piece of meat and chicken wings. When we showed that to the waiter he just waved his hand and murmured something but no apologies or anything like that.

Had such a lovely afternoon last weekend!! The wait staff were so lovely and accommodating and the food was delicious!! Definitely recommend a visit :)

Went in this little cafe place as chance , and wow, breakfast was delicious! Great selection of items on the menu and selection of cakes too! Can’t fault the service too! Will definitely return to this little gem when we are back in Edinburgh!

Piggs Our recent visit to Piggs was, unfortunately underwhelming. Despite having a two-hour reservation, we felt rushed and found both the service and food lacking in key areas. From the start, service was slow—taking 15 minutes to have our order taken and another 10 minutes for drinks to arrive. The tapas-style dishes were served as they were ready, which is expected, but disappointingly, none of them arrived at a truly hot temperature. Additionally, the flavors were underwhelming—over-seasoned in some cases, but without any standout elements that made the meal particularly memorable. The biggest issue, however, was the feeling of being hurried out. At the 1.5-hour mark, we were told we needed to start leaving, and our coats were even brought to us despite technically having 15 minutes left on our booking. This made for an abrupt and uncomfortable end to the meal, reinforcing the sense that the restaurant prioritized turnover over customer experience. Overall, Piggs didn’t impress in terms of food, service, or ambiance. While we understand the need for time management with reservations, the rushed experience and lacklustre dishes make it difficult to recommend. A more thoughtful approach to both pacing and hospitality would go a long way in improving the dining experience.

Went for a birthday celebration and the food was amazing and the service, very welcoming and attentive. Would highly recommend.

What a fantastic meal.. lovely meal and service and great value..wish I was local as this would be my go to restaurant ! Don't normally leave reviews but the meal and service here was excellent 👌

Necesitaba desayuno una mañana y así que vine aquí para encontrar un ambiente encantador con una variedad de personas dentro. Es un poco apretado a veces como es popular pero por una razón. Recomendaría los huevos Benedict. Seguramente volverá aquí.
