The food here is delicious. It’s tapas so plan to order multiples and share. We had the olives, pork and beef meatballs, chicken in a white wine rosemary sauce, beef filet with a lovely sauce and sopressito (sp?). Everything was delicious. Staff is friendly and attentive. Nice wine list. Make a reservation as it is small and very busy. I highly recommend!

Excellent tapas place to stop by when in Edinburgh! Traditional Spanish plates with a hint of uniqueness. Daily specials are a must to try, jamon served on a crispy but super soft bread and simply a menu that ticks all boxes when it comes to a 'small plates' restaurant concept. Very nice staff!

I seen my friend had visited this place on insta and as someone who is in southern Spain a few times a year I thought I’d pop by with my son and a mate. Firstly it’s small, they have done well to make it work with space they have but if all these tables were full you’d be snug. The food: honestly the food was nice, nothing was of poor quality and the Padrón peppers were some of the nicest I’ve had. Though none were spicy at all which was unexpected. The staff: with service charges included you’ll never find the staff going above and beyond but any interaction we had was good, seem like a happy enough bunch. The menu: just enough to keep it interesting, at the prices throw in some bread, adds value. Would be nice to see some Bombas or a refreshing ensaladilla Rusa on the menu. Loses a star simply due to price and portion sizes. On the Royal Mile you pay a premium but everything, apart from the Brava, was small. 3 bought in small croquettes for £7-£8 is wild. Jamon platter is £15 for a few slices of bought in Jamon with olives, no value. No bread. No condiments. Overall it’s “fine dining” tapas, there’s scope there. I’ll recommend but I’m not sure if I’ll return.

Went to Edinburgh for the Marathon, spent 4 days there enjoying the food, sights and tourist attractions. We happened to walk past PIGGS one afternoon and the menu consisted of VERY traditionally Spanish dishes. Decided to randomly book last minute, we were extremely luck to get a table because the restaurant is TINY. We immediately noticed that the staff had Spanish accents and that all of the customers were speaking Spanish, before we even ordered food we KNEW this was going to be STUNNING! And it was, all the dishes were fantastic, the wine was delicious and the customer service was top notch. Thank you so much ladies <3

This is a very cool place. There is a good atmosphere and the music is pleasant. It serves Spanish tapas and typical food from our country. However, you have to know that they are reinterpretations of the most popular hits and that they don't taste like they do in Spain. For example, the omelette is quite good but the octopus 🐙 leave it for Galicia because you will be disappointed. The tapas are small and the wine is expensive because it is imported. In general, if you miss Spain, it can be a nice place to go but it is not a very top meal.

As a huge fan of quality tapas, I was mainly impressed. Patatas bravas 5* Pan con tomate 5* Melon con jamon 0* (sold as melon sorbet with fine crispy jamon - more like watery liquidised melon with tiny unidentifiable jamon. Awful!) Croquetas con jamon 4* (bit small) Albóndigas 5* Pollo al ajillo 4* Wine 5* but very expensive. Staff lovely. Atmosphere - very authentic with a great Spanish playlist. I really dislike how tapas bars in Scotland charge for bread.

The score I've given is massively influenced by the value for money I felt I got. The food is OK, but... While I understand that it's not Spain, rent is expensive and there are other overheads to pay like staff costs, I don't think there's a good reason for tiny portions of inexpensive products that require little preparation: Pimientos de Padrón, of which there were about 6 (if you count 2 little ones as 1) was £6.95, so works out at over £1 per pepper; The Special, Espárragos Trufados, was £7.95 for 4 grilled asparagus spears with a fried egg on top and a sprinkle of Manchego. Patatas Bravas were tasty and at £5.95, although the ingredients are still inexpensive, at least the quantity given is more filling. The Jamón Ibérico sharing platter was £14.95 and seemed almost reasonable if it came with the items listed on the menu (olives, pickles, chilli peppers, nuts and picos) but it only had olives. Service: OK Atmosphere: OK, score brought down by type of music; It's obviously subjective but if it's to be played loud (which we were warned about), I'd make it more accessible and... well, better. Food: OK but mainly let down by the price/portion. The portions of asparagus and peppers are so measly it also makes the presentation look awful. It's a simple fix that would make a negligible difference to ingredient costs.

This is a review of the Bruntsfield location- The reviews here seem to cover both. On the positive side, this is the most cheery set of employees I've seen- A smile for everyone and nothing too much trouble. The food, too, excellent- We had some tapas as a 'starter' and them moved onto the mixed platter. Well explained and extremely tasty. The bill matched most mid priced places, but a bit dear for sitting at a high stool (most of the seats are) in a relatively crowded area. Wine prices vary dramatically- At the simple end, there is the cold and wet, which is fine for this kind of environment. Decent beers too.- When the prices go into the hundreds (and perhaps just for show) thousands of pounds there is a very Edinburgh 'fur coat and no knickers' vibe. The pretention of being a place to sip exceptional wines just seemed a bit much. If I want to spend £3,000 on a bottle, I'd rather do it with my bum on a soft seat.

Judging TA reviews I’m in a minority but I didn’t enjoy Piggs. Friends booked this restaurant for lunch. On arrival we are shown to a table with high stools. That is not my preference. To enjoy a long lunch on a stool is difficult. Also tables are too small. Menu is very limited, more so when 3 of the choices are deep fried potatoes. One fish dish choice ( octopus) , one chicken ( thighs) . Decided to try and make the best of situation and choose pan con tomato , wasn’t good . Tomato pulp with way too much garlic. Plate of HAND CARVED Iberico Jamon , only it wasn’t HAND CARVED. I questioned waiter asking him to clarify and he insisted it was HAND CARVED. I dug my heels in and told him he was wrong. He suggested he went to kitchen and check with chef. On his return he confirmed the obvious it was out a packet because ( here’s the kicker) the machine was broken. I pointed out what you need is a man at the end of a knife not a machine. Conclusion, unless the man with the knife was identifying as a machine I’m not sure what was going on. One more gripe before I finish my rant , when I visit a Spanish restaurant I don’t want the special to be Haggis Bon Bon. Service charge added but at no point was there any attempt to pour wine or engage.

The food was okay. The actual problem came from the fact that the service was terrible; we were greeted by a member of the staff with a passive aggressive attitude and were asked “if we were ready to leave” when we clearly had not finished our meal and there was an hour and a half until the restaurant’s closing hour. I came here with my Spanish mate after dining at a different Spanish restaurant the night before (cafe Andaluz, trust me don't go there). We were warmly greeted by the staff into an almost full restaurant (even on a Wednesday it was quite busy and seating is limited, I'd advise booking) specials were explained to us and our drinks arrived quite quickly. For the tapas we've had: sourdough bread with extra virgin olive oil to start with, crunchy and faultless. Pattas bravas, crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside topped with aioli and some spicy tomato based sauce. Authentic and perfect. Chorizo Sidra, delicious big pieces of chorizo in a cider based sauce. Serranito, one of the specials which were sandwiches with red peppers, chicken, jamon ham and padron pepper topped with some sea salt and some aioli resting underneath the toppings, the combination works beautifully. Tortilla, omelette like dish with potatoes and onions which was so filling it signified a good time for another Estrella to wash it down with. Croquetas Jamon, you could tell they're made from scratch due to varying sizes and how the filling pulled when tearing them open, creamy and melted in the mouth. The star of the evening was the pulpo; octopus with boiled potatoes simply delicious. Off course we got some iberico ham as well, genuine iberico ham; the darker tone of the ham, marbling, smooth texture and rich taste means you're getting the real deal. Then we finished off with some decent coffee. Fantastic experience from start to finish; great attentive service, delectable authentic food, good selection of drinks, cosy decor. If you want authentic Spanish cuisine this is the place you want to go to, my Spanish friend couldn't fault anything here either and he's hard to please. Shout out to Laura serving us and good luck to the owner with the new site at Bruntsfield, I'm sure if it's anything like the royal mile restaurant it will do amazingly well. Muchas gracias! Pardon some of the food being half eaten in the photos, we couldn't resist.

I don't understand the reviews overrating this site. Spanish music, yes, but the food is nothing like it, unless you order sausages at a very expensive price. They charged me for a sad glass of wine £7.50 for the octopus cut with a razor blade and the potatoes with tomato on top (horrible), the small croquettes and nothing special, the bravas the best, and nothing to write home about. What a coincidence, there were no broken eggs that day... You pay a high price for a bad imitation. The best thing is the friendliness of the waiters.

We were lucky enough to come at the perfect time to grab the bar seats here as we didn’t have a reservation for the night. The food was fantastic and the staff were great with explaining all of the dishes. Will definitely be a must stop when we come back again.

The location is great, the food is very good and tasty but you need to know how to pick it. Since this is a tapas bar you can go overboard by not thinking how the food will be presented to you. It is always a good idea ask the staff about sizes and preparation as tapas can either not be enough to way too much easy. Although everything was really good and I loved the non alcoholic sangria, the atmosphere threw me off a bit because of the way too loud Spanish music playing non stop. I couldn't hear anyone speaking. Overall it's a good place to everyone who likes Spanish cuisine and culture.

Always have lovely food and wine here with my partner. Service is always brilliant too. The Padron Peppers are my favourite 😀

Ate her for three days in a row during comedy fringe. Small place, worth waiting for a table. Staff and food amazing in such a small place
