The best restaurants serving Mediterranean food in East Midlands

Myself, husband and 7 year old went for tea at Istanbul. We have visited on many occasions and tonight’s experience was excellent as always. Superb food, great drinks and great atmosphere but what sets this apart from the competition is the service. Jan was fantastic as always, and it was lovely to talk to and get to know Tamina who knows exactly how to talk to and look after customers. Thank you both for a lovely evening. Also many congratulations and all the very best to our original favourite waitress who we briefly saw outside. For those who haven’t experienced the restaurant I highly recommend the tribute act nights which are so much fun and are great for special occasions, or just because! Thank you all and will see you soon x

Me and my partner had a calamari and lahmacun starter which was lovely then we had a shared platter which was also really tasty, would go back again, nice place to eat out

Lovely cosy small restaurant. Everyone smiling and polite. Food fresh and well presented, very tasty. Would recommend for a relaxed evening.

8 of us came here for birthday and anniversary celebrations on a sunday They had a wealth on till 4pm but also our booking at 5 had a variety of chicken of starter and main 2 courses for 20 quid. It was quiet but maybe down do the weather, the food was tasty and staff friendly and helpful. I had the peri peri skewers and you could have rice or chips , the food was tasty and well presented

We live in Uppingham and regularly visit no23 as everything is consistently good. It has the feel of a place more like you would visit in a city . Menu regularly changes and the food is delicious. All the staff are friendly, attentive and very kind to our two year old. Would recommend.

First time here and will certainly return. Food, service and atmosphere lovely. Value for money and large portions. Will definitely return.

I have been here several times and have always had good food and the setting makes for a delightful relaxing evening with friends. Having lived and worked in Morocco (many moons ago) I just love being taken back to what was a wonderful country - don't know what it s like now! As soon as you enter the restaurant the aroma takes me straight back there, and the food is authentic, beautifully cooked and served. I guarantee you will find it difficult to eat everything as there is so much food.

I went to this restaurant with a dream of a “tapas fusion” evening and quickly became a nightmare which even Freddy Krueger will struggle with. We order the fritters with paprika and mayo and they bring us frozen chips that called for flavour. Also my wife ordered Patatas Bravas, and these were proper potatoes, but it was lacking a main thing that is the number 1 rule of cooking… salt (now that I think about it, salt was lacking everywhere). The sautee chorizo was average, but edible. The squid and the croquettes will sent me straight away to reflux hell tonight, they were dumped in grease and if you have been in Spain, or like me, you’re Spanish, you will consider them an insult. Finally I tried the pork belly, which was the only thing that saved the night. Service wise the place is small and somehow the service was lacking. We asked for water 3 times and after 30 minutes we finally have it. Also, our table was full of plates and they weren’t removing them, so we struggle for space. To end the night, they asked for a tip. Here is my tip: add salt to the food and tell that poor frustrated chef that if he need a hug, he only need to ask.

I got the lunch special today for the first time as it's next door to where I work. Friendly fast service and the Gyro was absolutely delicious! I was so hungry and it hit the spot!!! Worth it!

Closed, cannabis factory run upstairs by the owners. Dodgy since it became cash only.

A great place to eat, interesting menu, good atmosphere, fine outside space, and very good value.

Quick service and the sandwiches here are fantastic. I had one with figs, cheese, red pesto, and I think lemon basil that was probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The layers of flavours and the way they complimented each other was fasntastic. I am still thinking about it several days later and I really hope it's there again the next time I come by. My one negative is the Italian Hot Chocolate. I was expecting something like the cioccolata calda I'd find in Italy - thick and rich and made with dark chocolate. My first feeling that something was off was being asked if I wanted milk chocolate or white chocolate. I went with milk. Disappointingly, what I got was watery and lumpy (likely from the cornflour/starch not being whisked properly). I'm hoping that maybe this was a one off or that it'll be improved if I try it again.

Food excellent but to enjoy it the surroundings have to be clean and warm! Service very slow and parking awful

The food was delicious, the service was friendly and excellent, i would definitely recommend this place. We will return!!
