The Wama's Lounge in Kettering

Given the inflated prices at The Wamas Lounge, our party were expecting a far more satisfying night out than the one we experienced on our visit. Our party of 26 (including 3 children) had pre-ordered our starters and meals in plenty of time; far more than the 48 hours requested upon booking. The lead booker was asked to double and triple check before our arrival, to make sure that all meals had been confirmed. Despite this, on her arrival she was again asked to check and confirm that all meals had been included. It was at this point she was informed that children aren't normally welcome after 6pm - which rather begs the question; why on Earth would you take 3 children's meal orders on a table booked for 6.30pm? Not the most auspicious start but surely the only way is up from here??? Seating - we were squashed into the back area of the restaurant and arranged in a dog leg position, meaning that half of our party had their backs to the other half. The tables were pushed so close to the wall, that getting out to go to the bar, lavatory, out for a cigarette was an almost impossible ordeal. It was also the main route out to the garden area so there was a constant toing and froing of staff traffic. Food - despite the many checks to ensure everything was ordered, there were still meals that were forgotten, including one of the children. By the time those meals had been delivered to the table, six of the party had already finished theirs. All in, it took about 40 minutes to get the mins onto the tables. The general consensus is that the food was delicious but there were elements missing and portion sizes differed greatly from one meal to another. My own choices were starter of homemade hummus, garnished with roasted chickpeas and pomegranate seeds. I wouldn't like to comment on the actual homemade aspect of it, but there were absolutely no roasted chickpeas or pomegranate seeds on it. What i received was a tasty but uninspiring splodge of hummus, scraped across a side-plate and topped with a couple of sad looking olives. I will say though, the bread was delicious and easily the bet thing i had that night. My main of Kleftiko with rice was served in a lovely blue terrine with a ramekin (matching crockery) of frozen garden peas. I was disappointed that the stew was served over the rice in the pot as the rice was soggy by the time i got it. It was also a disappointing portion since 2/3 of the terrine contents were rice. As i said before, the food was tasty enough but there were so many short-cuts. Additionally, the menu states that the Kleftiko should come with a Feta crumb - there may have been Feta in the kitchen, but none of it found it's way into my dish. Drinks - £4.43 for a warm, flat, syruppy draught coke. The same price for a glass of orange cordial and tap water and not a block of ice to chill it. Waiting staff were always on hand to take order for more -very expensive- drinks but less visible, when there were concerns about the food. Waiting Staff - The young waiting staff were the highlight of the night. They worked solidly throughout the evening but were let down by the kitchen staff. The lady in black who may be the owner, manager or maitre de could learn a lot from them. She needs to know that effective customer service is more than a sleek long ponytail, stylish outfit and a fake smile. Service Charge - inclusion of this was very sneqky as there were no clear indications regarding the percentage or inclusion. Indeed the only time we were aware was when the receipts were given after payment. All in, the amount of money paid in service charges on the night was in the region of £80-£100. Return Visit? - Maybe, but certainly not in a hurry, never in a big party because it was abundantly obvious The Wamas Lounge is not equipped to cater for them and not for a special occasion because the lead booker left feeling pretty deflated. Something in the region of £800+ spent so not great value for money and not the high end dining experience Wamas Lounge suggests it offers.

We were a group of 8 having dinner before going to a show, so were in a bit of a rush. The staff at Wama's did their utmost to get our food out quickly & it was all really delicious. We were so impressed we came back after the show & spent the rest of the evening in the covered Shisha garden.

Avoid this place. Only if I could give them a zero rating. My partner got sick after having dinner there. Never again. I’ll report them to health and safety authorities.

I booked a romantic dinner for my wife and I, got there on time 8pm on Friday. I was shocked I had to raise concern for our meal we ordered at 8:10pm haven’t arrived at our table at 10:15pm knowing they most likely closes 11pm. It took an hour 30mins to even get attention of one of the staff to at least get us bread to chew. Few people that came before us got meal and we felt really let down. I was made to make a payment of £75 for the food and drink since we couldn’t wait anymore (We had pre-informed them we have a baby at home and we can only spend 1.5hrs out max even before we arrived) and they parked a poorly prepared meal as takeaway after I was forced to make payment. They spoilt our romantic night out.

I visited on 11th November 2023. Three out of four of us were ill the following day and for two us the illness lasted two weeks. We can’t say for sure but we suspected it was from our meal. I previously just left a rating but added the specific details as the restaurant said they didn’t think I attended. I’m not sure why they made that conclusion because it could make people believe the review was false. I know people who have ate there many times before and loved it but I think we may have been unlucky that day.

Bad waiters , bad treatment, bad prices, the waiters very rude ، Their treatment is disgusting . I did not have a good experience in the restaurant everything was disgusting I will never return to this restaurant we paid a lot of money for nothing.

We visited yesterday evening as a party of 8 (5 adults, 3 children) for a 60th Birthday Celebration. After reading reviews and looking at the pictures and menu online we decided to try something different. The restaurant was cold and the majority of the party needed to sit in coats, the waitress couldn't answer any of our questions regarding what certain things were, we asked if something that said was cooked in garlic could come without the garlic to be told everything had garlic on even though this was not stated on the menu (1 of the party can't eat garlic) and then to top it all the meals were barely warm (1 being stone cold and sent back). For a bill of £270 and a very special celebration we were very disappointed. I have sent an email regarding the disappointment as after leaving the family were very distressed with the amount of money we wasted here but heard nothing back so 1 star review had to be made.

Lovely decor and a nice atmosphere despite going when it was quiet. We had the giant burgers (forgot what they are called) and although tasty were luke warm and were pricy for what they are. Loved the complimentary bread and dip at the start. As I was paying I noticed the service charge, which is a big no for me. I didn't see this until we were paying or would of removed it and there was no mention of it before hand. I won't go back purely because of this.

Service was good, food was cold and felt like made yesterday. For a £50 meal you would expect at least a warm one.

Horrible experience they duped us and overcharged us we were made to pay 35 pounds each and they claimed to have served us 7 platters instead of the 5 they actually served.one of the staff members was very rude .the meal comes with bottomless drinks of which they did not give us we had to buy drinks separately but on the menu it says bottomless drinks offered

Bad experience, brought out less number of platters and overcharged us .when questioned how they came up with the bill, the waitress was so rude and literally screaming at us claiming she didn’t know, she was just told to come out and get payments . The platters we got come with drinks but when we were made to pay for the drinks separately despite the menu stating drinks included .

I came here in search of pan fried garlic mushrooms after another eatery repeatedly failed to deliver. The Wama's Lounge advertised a Mediterranean Fusion experience. It is far more than that. The staff are attentive, friendly and always quick to provide. The ambience is understated and the decor / furniture are all top notch. I hope you don't all ruin it for me and my wife, by all flooding in here and taking my favourite table. By the way, it was lovely to see the 5? generation party here the other day. Well done Wama...

I wasted £50 at this restaurant... I wasted £50 at this restaurant 30/10/24. Firstly the food is horrible the ribs are extremely salty and inedible. The chicken wings I wouldn't know where to start from and there was hair in the bulgar wheat which I took back and was met with no apology and a bit of hostility. I'll not even accept free food from this restaurant. Only thing that was edible was the garlic flatbread. Very awful experience I threw the food away.

Went for lunch with a couple of colleagues. The interior is nice, with subdued lighting and a pleasant atmosphere. We ordered drinks and food, and a couple of minutes later, we were brought a plate of chopped salad, flatbread and dips as an appetiser. This was delicious and a really nice touch. Then the mains arrived, and to be fair, my colleagues' meals were ok. Mine however, was ghastly. I can honestly say it's the worst plate of food I've ever been served. The fact that the plate was stone cold turned out to be the smallest issue! The pasta wasn't cooked properly and was stuck together in hard clumps. There was no sauce in the bowl so the dish was claggy. Everything tasted overwhelmingly of garlic, and some of the seafood wasn't cooked. I left half of it and complained, and got an apology. It's not like they were busy either; we were the only customers in the place for almost an hour. A little while after I got home I was on the toilet for half an hour, which messed up my plans for the rest of the day! Needless to say, I won't be going back.

This was my first visit with a group of friends, six of us in total. The welcome was warm and friendly The menus choices were well explained, service was friendly and efficient The menus were comprehensive and it wasn’t easy to decide what to have. Complementary starters was a lovely touch and the wine list was good and reasonably priced. The food was AMAZING. Well cooked, fresh and tasty with good portion sizes, not too big or small. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and couldn’t manage desert even though they looked great. We will definitely be back and can recommend this restaurant highly

Delicious food beautifully presented, really friendly and helpful staff and we thoroughly enjoyed our time in the relaxing shisha garden with blankets to keep warm under after the meal. One of the best restaurants we've been too, we will definitely be going again!

The only place in Kettering I've eaten in that has "good London restaurant" quality. Compliments to a perfectionist Chef. People complain about the price - well, go somewhere with less quality and cheaper. We need more places like this, for once I didn't regret spending money in a restaurant or feel ill the next day. Beautifully cooked food. You can tell the meat has been slow-cooked and had proper attention paid to it, marinaded over and over. The salad is all really fresh, seems like it was taken out of the ground that morning. Just great quality all 'round.

We found this place almost by accident when looking for some Greek food. The menu looks amazing and when we ordered the food it didn't disappoint! It was very quiet but very nice in the restaurant, and our server was lovely and helpful!

Takeaway Stone cold burgers which were very basic and tasteless. Had one last time around 2 years ago and recall them being 100 % better than the one I've recently experienced. Sorry Wama but never again.

Went for a relaxing dinner and that was what I got. The food was a very high standard and didn't want to stop eating. Service was also great and it was over all a very relaxing and filling experience. Can't wait to go back to try some other bits on the menu

I only had beverages there. The ambiance is delightful, particularly outdoors where smoking is permitted (your own or shisha). The staff is exceptionally friendly. It is currently my preferred establishment in Kettering. The prices are reasonable; I paid 9 pounds for a cocktail.

Unfortuantly did recieve correct order, i ordered a a mix shish and got chicken shish and Adana Kebab aslo missing free desert, Only ate the chicken, the Adana wasnt my think, other than order wrong!! food was good

Usually very pleased. But my moussaka was a bit disappointing for the price. No trace of the béchamel sauce and very hard and burnt round the edges. It came with rice but the menu said bulgar wheat. The stew was perfect as always but for nearly £50 it wasn’t great this time 😢😢

This was our first visit, a treat from a close family member. Having had great experiences in a Turkish Restaurant nearer London, the bar was set pretty high. However, we were certainly not disappointed. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the menu was extensive and very interesting at a price that wasn't extortionate. The quality of the food was splendid and taken all round, the experience was great. We will certainly recommend and come again! 10/10.

I recently hosted a party at Wama's Lounge, and I regret not reading the reviews beforehand. I would not recommend booking this restaurant for any event, especially a large party. First and foremost, the manager/owner, Yalda, was incredibly rude to our guests. She continuously shouted at them as they ordered drinks at the till, creating a very unpleasant atmosphere. This lack of professionalism is unacceptable. Additionally, I arrived late to my own party because my vendors called to inform me that they were not given the space I had agreed upon with Yalda. Despite confirming our arrangement, she did not provide the necessary space for decorations. This caused significant stress and delays. To make matters worse, although Yalda agreed for us to stay until 1am, everything was shut down by 12am. This was misleading and disappointing, as it cut our celebration short. The service was atrocious. The agreed setup and schedule for the party were changed on the day without prior notice. Some of the food arrived late and cold, and the dessert was served without any announcement, leaving guests unaware. The overall service was poor, and despite paying a service charge, the experience was far from satisfactory. The staff, although nice, were clearly under pressure and struggling to manage the event. At one point, a waiter even dropped a tray of drinks, adding to the chaos. In conclusion, I would not recommend Wama's Lounge for a big party. Their lack of experience in handling large groups and the poor service make it a place to avoid if you want to enjoy your event. Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else.

Absolutely amazing food and service, the portions and prices are generous additionally me and my partner truly felt well looked after by staff! We had two shishs and a lovely baklava desert with a couple of drinks, a wonderful experience thank you so much

Really disappointing. After having our booking pushed back to give us "excellent service" we ended having to ask to be moved to a quieter corner as was very noisy and not ideal for an intimate meal for my wife and I as seemed everyone had to use the bar next to us despite a big garden party booking at the same time. After insisting on moving (should have chosen to leave then), the waiter then dropped a tray of drinks all over our new table, my wife and the diners next to us. Despite waiters cleaning up the drinks from the floor, my wife had to ask for napkins and a dry chair to which she was offered dirty napkins they had used to mop up and told they wasn't sure they had a spare chair. Eventually one was found for her, and you would have thought they would try extra hard with the service but no. Food eventually came out and whilst mine was nice, my wife was served cold chips with her burger. When the waitress asked if everything was OK with the food my wife "apologised" and pointed out the chips, to which the waitress offered to "stick them back under the hotplate, but might take a while to warm up". Absolutely shocking service, and despite all this my wife was only given 1 complimentary drink to make up for the soaking, and £4.88 discount for the shambles service and cold food. I've given 2 stars back as when hot, the food was pleasant, and the atmosphere would be good if partying - but not for an intimate meal with a loved one.

Food and atmosphere was amazing! We had shisha and then food in the restaurant. The waitress was a bit rude when I asked her to take the ice out of my water she gave me an attitude and looked at me like I asked her to do something very difficult 🙄. She brought back the glass of water without ice and told me there you go princess. I have told her to do not call me like that as I do not find it respectful coming from her after my simple request. She then replied again with an attitude mhm okay!. That ruined the evening literally. Will be back though as the shisha was great and the food too. Hopefully she will learn to behave by then and apologise.

Very pleasantly surprised an array of Eastern Mediterranean dishes on the menu which were cooked and presented beautifully. Amazing transformation of an old town centre pub. We will be going again..

We chose this place as it was a half way point for meeting up with friends for my hubby's birthday. Never been before, the food was amazing, we had the sharing platters and pudding. The staff, especially Steve was so attentive and very friendly. When I booked I said it was for a birthday celebration and when we arrived, there were balloons and a birthday banner. Also a sparkling candle and music on his pudding. We ate a lot and it was so nice to actually have a meal out and enjoy the food, as we have been out for meals recently and ood is bland, not warm. But not here, it was yummy, hot food and delicious 😋. We don't live in kettering so gutted we cant just pop in for a meal. But hopefully be back when we travel that way again. Super, place and super staff. Thank you for making the evening special.

If you are okay with a mix of different food then this place is good. The food is alright although I would stay away from the hummus and make sure you wear a jumper. I would recommend the Calamari.

Very Disappointed, This was the first time every I have left a restaurant hungry.. We have ordered the big sharing platter for 5-6 people which comes with bottomless soft drinks... Don't bother as half the soft drinks from the menu are not included.. basically you are limited to coke and Fanta.. The food.. oh where do I begin, asking £140 for that sharing platter is an insult to customers.. the rice was overcooked to the point where it was just mashed, resembled more a mashed potato rather than rice.. this should also come with chips bulgur and cous cous.. well you get a tiny bowl of chips and bulgur to share between 6 people... The meat, nothing much, burnt and just pure fat have a look yourself at the pictures.. The lamb tasted like fish.. and just the quantity of food for a sharing platter which costs over £100 was just ridiculous. I feel completely ripped off. When I complained, credit where its due, I was given a discount but this was minimal compared to the value of the bill/food. First and last time here very very disappointed with this restaurant. Save yourself the pain and just go to Tuck-Inn in Northampton... cheaper and million miles better in every way.

As usual a delicious meal on a night out for two couples. Great cocktails. Good selection of bottled beer. After the starters and main courses we were more than satisfied. Service was exceptional. We were invited to move table away from a loud Christmas party, Without having to ask. Nothing to complain about just a lovely night out before Christmas.

My partner took me here for a meal to celebrate my birthday 🎂 🥳 even though I've lived in Kettering quite a few years, I'd only been there once before many years ago and didn't enjoy it. Well, I was amazed at how much it had changed from the food quality to the service and atmosphere...I had a great time 👍🏽😊 the food portions were big and everything we ate was delicious 😋 I was also serenaded with happy birthday song by the servers with sparklers while they presented me with a big chocolate brownie (with a candle on top)! Also, the cocktails 🍸 are great 👍🏽 👍🏽 All the staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely revisit there when we plan our next dinner night out 😊

Our waiter was attentive and really took care of us even separated my olives. The shish lounge had a shish master who created the pipes and provided a great ambiance.
