Very rude and bad service. Was served rice that was half cooked, asked on x 3 occasions that my food was not up to scratch. Was later told by the waitress that l arrived late from the rest of my party and that she was too busy. Never going back there again even the sold called manager when called was rude. I was so looking forward to my meal with my friends and they spoilt my appetite. They are not worth even one star. Behaving the way they are because there is no competition for them in the area.

There was a period when management was different and although food was well presented and pleasant service, we were disappointed. A group of us have patronised this restaurant for some time but after the last experience we stopped going altogether. Thankfully today we decided to have another try and the experience is now fabulous! The female serving staff was elegant n friendly n polite and made us very welcome. As for the food…we’ll it was back to the glory days when we first went. All right, prices have gone up but that’s unsurprising. The quality of meat and cooking was sublime. We ordered the plater for 4-5 and that must be enough for 6-8. It was huge and very well presented. We were so pleased we return and would now be able to highly recommend this restaurant to friends n relatives.

One of the most horrible experiences that i have ever encountered. We ordered food and drinks. Waitress brought my tea that was cold, i tought alright i'll not mention anything, i was not happy but ok. Inside was extremely cold so i asked to turn of the air con or put the heating up, staff were irritated about it already. We got the food in about 10 - 15min so that was not bad. First bite of mash potatoes it was ice cold, absolute absurd, we asked to heat it up, so they just popped it in to microwawe.... There was no one apart from us 4 in the restaurant if you can call it that way, yeat to get attention from waitress impossible. I would not recommend anyone to eat there. Horrible place!!!

Do not visit if you have an allergy! + RAW chicken!! I called 2 weeks before the booking to check if they can accommodate one person with the celiac disease (gluten allergy). They were happy with serving him grilled meat + rice as well as a salad. We called again to make sure, and we booked a table for 15 guests. On the arrival, I again, checked with the waitress if the salad was safe to eat for the person with the allergy, and she confirmed. Not long after the chef came out of the kitchen saying: ‘please tell me you didn’t eat the salad’ to which we all looked at him with confusion. After telling him the person ate the salad he replied with laughing and saying: ‘It’s okay I don’t think anything will happen to you’. The time came for mains and even after calling twice before booking to confirm, neither chips or rice was suitable for the person with the allergy. He settled for some grilled meats and a plain salad with no dressing. In addition, he ordered some grilled hallumi to which I again, asked if was safe to eat. The waitress looked at me like I was stupid and rudely replied: ‘ma’am it’s cheese, of course it’s safe to eat’ + waved her hand in front of my face. After the hallumi was served, and just before the person took bite, she came rushing back saying how hallumi indeed had been cross contaminated and wasn’t safe to eat. We waited over 1:30h for the food to come out. All the chicken on everyone’s plates was RAW, with blood on the bones and horrible sound under your teeth after chewing on it. The platter for 2 people was completely forgotten about and sent to the table after everyone else has finished their food. All of my family works in hospitality and has in some point in their life been a server, barista or a waiter/ waitress. We’re not picky and as long as the food is good - we’re happy. They clearly weren’t aware of what the allergy even is, and instead of checking, they said what we wanted to hear just so we book a table with them. They also called us on the day of booking saying how they will only be taking cash for our table, even though they do have a card option. They tried ‘apologising’ to the person with the allergy by bringing free food to the table that he again, can’t eat. Comments such as ‘I don’t think anything will happen’ after the person ate the food they’re allergic too and waving with the hand in front of our face wasn’t appropriate and we strongly recommend to avoid this place. Also, even without the allergy restrictions all the chicken on everyone’s plates was raw and it made us all leave the food on our plates.

This place has massively gone down hill

Disappointing We booked last minute for NYE. We've been here a few times and never been disappointed. Service was very slow but we appreciated they were busy. We chose a platter for 2. We chose 2 cold meze which never arrived, we asked again and still didn't arrive. We ordered prawns as an extra, they were tasty.The salad and bread were nice. The platter arrived and looked lovely until we tucked in! The rice was cold so after having to go and ask for some hot rice(we couldn't get anyone's attention) it arrived after a wait, still not hot. The first couple of bits of meat from platter were tasty until my partner cut into a raw piece of chicken. For 10 mins we tried to get someones attention (they were busy) we finally got a young lady's attention who said she would speak to someone, nothing for 15mins as we watched staff chatting and drinking behind the bar. I approached bar and gave money for the drinks and prawns we had eaten , the young waiter wanted us to pay £55 which I refused. They didn't seem to appreciate the danger of cold /warm rice and raw chicken. Such a shame , we won't be visiting again!

We turned up early for our takeaway and were given turkish tea. One of the best takeaways of any type I've had. The Christmas music was a bit over powering.

Will never come back again... it was amazing restaurant befoure but new owner need some good lessons from previous owner specially with language and behaviour and also cooking. 🙂

I’m really disappointed in this restaurant,I rang a week ago asking if their open on Christmas day and the guy said yes we are,so I booked a table for 12pm. Today Christmas day we were looking forward to eating there only to get there and the place was closed,we kept trying to call the restaurant no answer.We spent £20 to get there with the taxi to and from for such disappointment!!!!

Me and three other friends enjoyed our meals I think most of us had lamb Shish that was very tasty and full of flavour, chips cooked really well and fresh salad was great. Starters was lovely and baklava was also. Excellent service thank you!

I went at the Ottoman Kitchen for a Birthday celebration and on another occasion with a friend, each time the food was delicious and the service was brilliant. The price of meals is really good compared to what you get. The only think I didn't like was the fact that they only took cash payments so we all had to get to the ATM one by one,other than that all was wonderful. Going back again there soon and will take cash with me. Thank you

Second visit to this lovely restaurant; this time with friends. On our first visit, we ordered starters and mains. within a short space of time, a large plate of bread, dips, pickles and salad arrived. We told the waiter that we hadn't ordered these, but he told us that these were complimentary. It was beautifully presented and ensured that we had to take the majority of the main courses home with us! We told our friends not to order a starter as the complimentary dish would more than suffice. Obviously, the have changed their policy since we were there first, as we received a small plate of bread and dips rather than the spread we were expecting. A lesson learned! The rest of the meal was superb. The only negative thing I have to say is in regard to the cost of a bottle of Becks Blue alco free lager. This was £5.50 for a small bottle. I really do think that this is taking the mick, as I can buy 6 bottles of this at the supermarket for £4. Because it is alcohol free, there is no (or very little) duty on this product. I don't mind a business making a margin, but I feel this is excessive.

Not to its normal standards of service again tonight. Wait staff didn't fully understand the menu, or what was/wasn't available, meaning choices had to be changed. Also, very quick to clear plates off the table, even asking to take plates that still had food on them. Food was delicious as always which is a plus, considering the under par swevice standards. This is an unusual drop in their high standards, and I just hope it's not due to taking good staff to the new site in town, leaving the original location compromised

Been there before and food was amazing and I said I will go again but didn’t knew the management change food was awful .we paid and didn’t ate anything took the food at home to bin it .I spread the word to my friends and family not to go there as it wasn’t the same as before

Best turkish food in town, you do have to pay a slight premium but it's worth it

I enjoyed the food ,but the staff are a bit unprofessional. I asked 2 members of the staff to bring me a beer. And just after 10min I asked another staff member to bring me the beer.

Update 15/9/23. After a pleasant revisit last month, when pleased it was under new ownership after poor experiences as a favourite restaurant had gone seriously downhill, we returned tonight. Waitress spoke very little English. We didn't believe that she understood what we were ordering. She didn't know what a lager was. Another came over to help and I reiterated my order to him. We still got the wrong order. The waiter stunk of cigarettes and the toilet was unclean. Shame. The picture below is from the previous visit when the new owner was on the premises.

So good we ate here twice during our five night stay in Northampton. Food was delicious, service prompt and attentive. I've seen in other reviews that tables are too close together - not our experience. Portions are generous - bring an appetite. Would certainly go back if we are in Northampton again.

Use to go all the time our favourite place, recently the owner changed and the food is not like before anymore ,the plate for 4people was very small definitely not for 4 and the service very poor.I will not going again definitely not recommend I'm very disappointed!!!

Had a fantastic meal here with family and friends, food was delicious and the service excellent. We are big fans of Turkish food and this was some of the best we’ve eaten. Highly recommended, will definitely be back.

Almost gave this place a miss due to the recent bad reviews but l’m so glad we decided to give it a try. We hadn’t booked and it was reasonably busy for a Thursday night but we were greeted and shown to a table as soon as we arrived. Complimentary bread and dips were provided while we ordered our cocktails and looked at the menu. We shared the delicious hot mezze followed by mixed kebabs for my son and chicken shish for me. Both served with lovely fluffy rice and mixed salad, the food was delicious and the portion sizes were just right. Staff were friendly and attentive, checking back with us on the food and drinks and offering more of the delicious bread. We thought it was very reasonably priced for what we had and we will definitely be back.

Really disappointed after saying I felt underwhelmed by the change in food items that I had ordered from the menu. Was told I shouldn’t have ate with you guys I eat with you guys sometimes 4 times a month which usually is around £50 per order both at home and in house in new location. Have never been spoken to rudely and feel you’ve actually lost my custom from this interaction. Really disappointed with who ever was managing Kingsley road today. Won’t be spending my money with u guys again food as always tasted great but you’ve left a bad taste in my mouth.

Went in for a take away, communication was weird, the lady tried to smile but wasn't really listening, and the guy who I assume owns the place made no attempt to be welcoming and I found rather ignorant / randomly dismissive - so rude. I asked what was in something on the menu to which he replied it was nice and people like it.. Well that's all good and well, but not useful when it comes to allergies or dietary requirements. They also don't understand the difference between pescatarian and vegetarian - be warned! After we got the order home it was rediculously small portions and I don't even eat much, and it was of an unimpressive standard I could have whipped up in the time it took to get it, and I'm no chef! It tasted fine though, just not worth it. The place appeared half ready for customers / unfinished in it's decor or run down, and due to the weird service the atmosphere was odd and unwelcoming, being treated as an inconvenience rather than a customer, they weren't even busy. I made a joke of it at the time as it was so blatantly poor. I won't go back and wouldn't recommend this place to others either.

Today we ordered some food, however, the food was not what I was expecting, the rice was half cooked and half not , we used to eat from this place because we were happy with the food but today we are very disappointed, I don’t know if they changed the chef or what had happened. However, we will not order food again from this place.

Not impressed with this place.. over priced for what it is. They even changed £4.50 for tap water which i may add under UK law is illegal as they are selling alcohol. My lamb shish was salty and over cooked. May partners lamb was the same and he found bones in his chicken. Me and my partners mum both asked for chips instead of salad this was ignored. Service was very little as nobody at any point came over and asked if our food was ok.. we paid £50 odd for 2 of us and that was 2 mains and 3 cans of coke which by the way are £3.50 each (more expensive than my local pub). I would not return here again and neither would my partner.

Disappointed. Been coming here almost weekly for several years. Have frequently recommended to acquaintances for the amazing salads and huge meat platters. But no more salad, no more feta, no more tzatsiki. Almost £8 for the calamari which was 3 rings, served with salad cream. Prices for the platters are the same but portions have more than halved. Then the manager (?) stood outside the front door smoking with the door wide open. Asked for the bill but apparently that couldn't be done until he'd finished his cigarette and phone conversation. Nice enough food, just not as good as it used to be.

Chicken shish lovely which came with nice salad. As for the rest it’s a no. £9 for a bottle of sparkling water. £4.50 for a jug of tap water. (Illegal ?) Starters 7-8 pounds and also a bit of a rip off for what arrived. Saucy prawns - 6 tiny prawns in congealed butter / gee type sauce. Calamari - just 3 rings. Ottoman special - no comment. Delicious wine. Nice staff, restaurant good atmosphere with cute little seating area. Coffee well over priced nearly £5

I reviewed this restaurant in Jan 21 and gave it 4 stars. Visited today and it was awful from start to finish. We’d booked a table for 2pm - but they clearly weren’t expecting us, and the waitress hadn’t arrived yet (they open at 12pm). - dirty tables, rubbish on the floor - felt we were an inconvenience to the male waiter / owner. He couldn’t take our drinks order and had to wait for the waitress to arrive. - we ordered Coke, and received Diet Coke. We queried this and were told that they didn’t have any Coke. You get what you’re given and not what you ask for! £3.50 for a can of Diet Coke. - £4.50 for a jug of tap water!! This is against UK law. - the prices are now very expensive for what you get. £90 for 4 x very average main courses - starter plates weren’t cleared away before mains arrived. Then after we finished mains the plates were left until we asked for the bill. - finally got the bill to then be advised “we only take cash”! The service was extremely poor throughout our visit. We were the only table, so no excuse for poor service. Staff were too busy smoking outside to look after their guests. I wouldn’t definitely not recommend this restaurant which is a shame as previously we have had some great meals. I’m not sure if it’s changed hands but don’t waste your time / money here!

Shocking, place was unclean from night before. No tables set no one to serve us, Fanta orange served out of a large bottle - flat 3.50 for the pleasure. Plates went back full. Note - don’t ask for a jug of two water - 4.50 for a jug!

The floor was absolutely filthy under the table we were seated at. We watched the waitress wipe other tables and throw all excess food onto the floor.The waitress was not welcoming she also kept going out for cigarette breaks which seemed her priority, very unprofessional. We asked to move tables due to the poor hygiene. The food was then served by someone in sports clothes who was possibly the owner or manager. Food was not great, bulgur rice tasted like pure mint! The presentation of the food was terrible it looked like it had already been eaten from due to the sauces being messed and all around the plate. To top it off we had to get up and go over to the bar to ask for the bill because the waitress was too busy smoking. A very bad experience will definitely not retun must be new owners/management because ottoman was amazing when it first opened.

Cosy, relaxing restaurant with friendly staff and a good choice of lovely food . You get plenty of food too.Would definately recommend this restaurant if you like Turkish food or would like to try Turkish food 😀

It's just good food at a reasonable price, served by people who care.

Been here a few times before - staff always friendly and the food is so good. The wrong item was delivered, but the staff dealt with it really well and had what I ordered cooked immediately. It was full throughout our time there, which gave a really good atmosphere.

Been eating here and ordering at home for a few times and the food/service wasn't too bad but today after ordering seafood casserole i have discovered in one of the mussels the aluminium foil that tablets are packed in,showed it to the owner wich went to the kitchen came back to the next table to take the order where he was offering discounts and we didn't receive at least some apologies. I haven't showed him the hair on the cutlery as i wasn't going to make such a big fuss.Won't be going back!

Lovely welcome from the pleasent waitress .. Shown to the back of the restaurant, which was dark at 5.45pm, despite it been nearly empty and the seats in the window being bright and sunny, empty. Popped to the toilet on arrival. It is lovely but for one person, it was full of loo roll and it didn't flush. Opened out to the kitchen serving hatch on the left . Turning right into the restaurant, All dips and and appetisers are sitting on a side shelf/cupboard in lines, not covered, for anyone going to and from the toilet to breathe over. We didn't eat these. Although the fresh bread bits, they where lovely. Mains were serviced before we had finished our Hot Meze starter and all the salad was warm, but looked beautiful. Ate all of my hot, hopefully fresh cooked chicken shish on my main and left the poorly cooked chips . My friend left her rice and most of her lamb kofta. Won't return after seeing the dreadful hygiene rating AFTER we visited. If that goes up, I'll return for sure. 2 stars for the toilet, uncovered appetisers by the toilets/kitchen . Staff lovely.

It is one of the best turkish restaurants in northampton. Me and my friends and I really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend getting the platters. Will be back again.

My wife and I arrived at 6.30 on a Saturday evening having pre booked. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated immediately and given menus. Our order was taken promptly and a bottle of wine and complimentary salad, breads and dips came after...

A real find, great decor and amazing food and lovely, welcoming staff.

i’ve been here a few times now and it was delicious like always. the starters are always so yummy. the only thing that was not as good was that my brother didn’t get his drink for a long time and therefore didn’t have a drink to wash down his meal. there is an outstanding quantity of rice that comes with the platters and we couldn’t finish it all, however the meat is succulent, flavourful and juicy to make up for it.

Came here after reading some reviews. I'm sorry but I was very disappointed 😞 From the waitresses that were wearing very tight, revealing leggings, with crop tops, to the mediocre food. It was all a massive let down. They say they bring salad and bread for free. There was a small platter of salad for 5 people to share. All the Turkish restaurants I've been to-and there are plenty- they give you a big platter of salad with complementary hummus and tzatziki. Most of our party was OK with the portion sizes but me and my husband had the pescatarian option with monkfish-which was overcooked and chewy- and prawns with a baby cotn, 2 asparagus, one mangetout and overcooked brocoli. Chips were decent, but tasted some rice from my friend- which had nothing to do with Turkish cuisine. Then the toilets- the coat hanger had loose screws and was wonky,the ceiling painted messy, toilet wouldn't flush, sink was wobbly. Oh and the tables are so close! We had a bigger group next to us with screaming kids. Not coming back ever again. Overpriced and complete let down.

Most delicious Turkish food I’ve had in Northampton. My partner and I tried this place for the first time a few weeks for date night and were so impressed that tonight we ordered take away from there. The food is absolutely stunning. Nice clean flavours, beautifully tender meat and generous portions. The fact they give you complimentary bread and dips, as well as salad is a nice touch. Highly recommend 👌

According to the foods standard agency, all common allergens need to be clearly highlighted and at first glance would appear that this restaurant is doing just that. However do not be fooled, only half the dishes are labelled up as containing gluten. Apparently the cracked...

Terrible service, so rude. The Turkish girl who was the waitress with long fake lashes was sarcastic since we opened the door of the restaurant. She did roll her eyes when I said I have reservation like she wouldn't believe. We weren't asked for drinks for 20 minutes, what a shame, I invited my mother for a dinner and had to leave. The girls were completely ignorant when I said I was waiting 20 min to order and still didn't come tot ake the order. Not sure if this was rasist move as it seemed other guests were served on time.

Came here on a Sunday to see what all the hype was about from the Northampton Chronicle. It was pretty empty so got seated quickly. Inital reaction to the place was ok - seems to be in a bit of a transition (wondered if it was a chinese restaurant in the past) didn't see many ottoman related wall decorations. Found the christmas lights a little guady (and it's March mind you). The food was great, some of the best turksih food we have had in northampton and in Istanbul (my partner is Turkish) so thumbs up there. They also had high chairs available. So in all food 5/5! Would definately come back - big portions or the price. The price is comparable to the other Turkish restaurants in the area. The Ambience 3/5 - pretty average nothing screams Turkey when you enter. Lots of oppotunity to capitalise on that, even some ottman music would help (in the background). Cleaniness of the facilities - 2/5 - restrooms were pretty dire. Understand that there was only one person doing the waiting, gretting etc, but more attention probably needs to be spent on these factors. A little concerned that the kitchen has no air block to the toilets and they are right next to each other. Maybe some sort of plastic screen or something over the counter would work. In all would visit again.

Whilst driving back home to London we stopped here and we were in love with the food! Service was great too I will drive 1.5 hour from home just to eat here again :)

Amazing food, so delicious, but the service was appalling. Grumpy waitresses, who we had to go and get to place an order, then again to get the bill, and again to get them to bring the card machine so we could pay. We ordered drinks...

Food was good although I have tested better elsewhere. The halloumi was a bit too over done in my opinion and the calamari was too however I’d come back for the meat platter again, very tasty and helpful service. Recommend

Lived in Turkey for 9 years and the food was as good if not even better than some of the restaurants I have been in.

Awful costumer service. Was racist, rude and obnoxious to my father. No veggie options for me and chef complained that he had to make it and said we wouldn’t understand because we aren’t Turkish (even though we are from Asian heritage )

I was with my family in Ottoman Kitchen. We were so warm welcome and we feel very comfortable. Waiters were so polite and with a smile that rarely u find in other restaurants. We had family feast coming eith fireworks and was amazing lovely adorable...

Visited for a Christmas Dinner with a client. From the start to the finish the whole experience was excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is wonderful and the staff are happy to advise on dishes. For a Friday night the venue was busy but not crowded or loud. Whatever your reason for visiting you won't be disappointed.
