Turkish Gul in Northampton

Went a couple times December 2021-Jan 2022 and loved it. Great portions and delicious food. The first time we went the hostess was super lovely and made us feel like VIPs haha. Next time we had a young waiter who forgot a few things but he was very polite and eager, I think with more time he'll be great. His friendliness and willingness with the delicious food made for a lovely experience either way.

All arrived at 8pm, some still waiting for food at 10pm, no communication between staff whatsoever, portion sizes small, meal accompanied by chips which arrived 30 minutes later. Chaos and overly loud music. Never again

I'm more than willing to add one more star ⭐ later on, however, at the moment, the restaurant just been relaunched (?!) and needs few more improvements. The food was really good (Turkish cuisine), but also, could and needs a bit more attention to details. In general, we had a lovely night out with our family/children. Live music 🎶🎹🎺🎷🎤

Absolutely rubbish Service terrible.. communication terrible. Lamb like rubber .. music so loud it was painful .. most of the table didn't get their meals ...

If you want a delivery of overpriced , tasteless , cold food then you need to call these charlatans . 40 quid … for some overcooked chicken and chips . They ought to wear a mask like any other self-respecting robbers . I haven’t had such tasteless rubbish in nearly 40 years

For the price of 14. 95 the mixed Shish was 6 cube like pieces of meat and a handful of chips in a small silver tub. Disappointed. Oh and a small silver tub.of salad. For 12.95. The Poisson dish was 3 flat pieces of chicken and an flat portion of chips. Another salad. I would never buy from here again. Portion sizes are questionable

We came for a dinner date as we was in Northampton for the weekend, after reading so many great reviews we decided to book, and were very glad we did, from the minute we walked in our waiter Shish was very welcoming, friendly, polite and with a big smile, he looked after us amazingly As for the food!! Woooow it was all amazing, all cooked fresh and perfect, very filling and the complimentary desert (coz we booked) topped the food off. Thank you Shish for taking our photos and for letting me take a rose 🤣 We would definitely come back next time in Northampton. Compliments to the chef too 😁

I called to place an order based on the pricing listed on their actual website. The price for the food should have been £35 less a 20% discount (£28) plus a £5 delivery charge (which seems a lot too)! The total should have therefore been £33 but was told to pay £38.90. I queried this and was informed their website is wrong and needed updating! It is actually law to charge the price as printed on the menu, you can’t suddenly decide to charge more based on a sudden whim; truly shocking business. I fully expected to be offered the deal which I’d seen on their website but the staff/owner held firm and wouldn’t reduce the price. Laughable. The fact the staff didn’t choose to honour the actual menu price as stated, in my opinion, shows terrible business acumen and is shortsighted. I will never use this restaurant again, nor will I recommend it…business lost. Avoid if you don’t want to be ripped off!

Brilliant Turkish restaurant. Good quality food, didn't have to wait too long, good service. Would definitely recommend.

One word: Brilliant! If you want more, read on: Location is excellent, right on one of the main streets of Northampton. Staff is very pleasant, and do know what they're doing. And more importantly there are magicians in the kitchen. They must be expert on their work. I am not writing this inexpertly, I am also Turkish and do know what Turkish food should be like. This is probably one of the best restaurants I've experienced East Midland.

Date night thought we would try it out, we love Turkish food but we won't return. Service was poor the waiter made me feel uncomfortable standing watching us all the time the decor was confusing not very turkish lots of Japanese stuff around. There was confusion over the food my husband wanted Iskender this a dish were the meat is smothered in a hot yoghurt and tomato sauce with butter in it. What he got was lamb shish with a dolop of thick yoghurt on the side it was very disappointing 😞 If you are going to advertise your menu on line at least have the same menu in the restaurant . Nothing to entice us back not even a mint at the end....oh did

I went there 4/5 times…i love there food very much…they have some speciality like gul specials…yeah i love these as well bt i love their all kind of shis and mostly their veg mussaka…they have sooo many types of drinks🥴…one thing more i like about them is their stuff…they are friendly and the environment is so good and peaceful…bt at the end of the day the taste of the food is mouth watering here😍😍😍 U can try this restaurant without any doubt 💙💙

Very nice staff, the bread was good too! My chicken liver starter was very overcooked, dry and crumbly, Lou’s spinach was good though! Main course fish stew was chewy, I had lamb shank which had been boiled and not browned at all so was covered in white fat. Having read the other reviews we had hoped this was going to be good, it was very disappointing!

Came here as a group of 10 with my friends. Service was really good and on point for taking our food and drink orders. The Turkish food was great. Mixed grill was amazing. Would strongly recommend. 5 stars.

Absolutely perfect, no faults, the dine in was splendid our waitress Sadie couldn't do enough for us and she helped with my 1 year old who's a handful at times thank you so much Sadie your a gem! gonna be back soon x definitely recommend 👌

We tried this Turkish restaurant for the first time for a family lunch and shared the Turkish mixed kebab, the Kofte was delicious and the fresh herbs added made it one of the nicest I’ve tasted. The lamb and chicken shish was so tender and well seasoned. I was pleasantly surprised with the edgy Meze and thought the beetroot dip was top notch! The interior decoration was classy yet cozy and welcoming at the same time and felt very comfortable dining there with my family. I will certainly be returning and will also be recommending this place to my girlfriends as the wine bar and setting would be great for a night out. Thanks to the attentive waitress to that was more than helpful in recommending the vegetarian and vegan options to my daughter!! See you again soon Turkish Gul!!

Really nice tasty food, loads of options for pescatarians (not always easy to find wide variety of fish/seafood) Highly recommended even by my meat eating friend. Great value for money and lovely waitress, my new favourite Turkish!

There are far too many Turkish restaurants in Northampton. We need quality, not quantity. Some of them are very good but this isn’t one of them. Poorly cooked food, disinterested waiting staff. It won’t survive. It is far too big and will never seat enough covers to be economical, particularly as the food and service are spectacularly bad. The previous Chinese restaurant on this site failed for exactly the same reason. Avoid.

Organised by a good friend I was excited to try somewhere new. Upon entering the decor is a little bland but not horrible the table set up was nice. Alas this is where it all started to go wrong. Once seated we waited....and waited....and waited to the point we had to go and find someone to take our order. To which when someone someone come over and said can I take your order we replied "well a menu would help!" We had been sat for a good 10 mins before we even saw the menu. Our drinks order was taken and one of our group waited a whole 20 mins for a diet coke after everyone else got thier drinks. I will say the waitresses that served us were very pleasant and apologetic and smiling apart from the last one who took the payments who was very grumpy. After yet another different server came over to take our order as explained someone had already taken our starter order so she took our mains order... she had to return twice as there was some Confusion about what some of us had ordered. To be fair that was partly our fault for saying the same thing in a different way but any staff that had aftusly learned the menu would have realised we 5 of us had actualy ordered the same thing. Our starters came out at almost 8 o'clock (we arrived for our table at 7pm) now you would be forgiven for thinking maybe the delay was due to being busy, alas there was only one other table in that night and it had 3 people and a screaming baby on it. One of the starters on our table was the cold sharing player which was lovely, unfortunately the couple had to wait a good 5 mins before they could eat it as they had no bread.. in fact the entire table had no bread and the server simply said " oh that should have been out before anything else I'm sorry" and yet we still waited another 5 mins before we got any. Starters cleared and another girl came round with frsh cutlery and napkins for the table. I know what your thinking....the cutlery was dirty, you would be wrong the cutlery was in fact very clean......it was still wet in fact! A minor annoyance I guess but come on people.. never take cutlery to a table without being polished or at least dry! The girl apologised and said they had a party of 50 in that afternoon and was still catching up "I cant feel my legs" the poor girl said. Boohoo! It's your job deal with it. When the mains eventually did arrive on cold plates meaning the little warmth the food did have soon evaporated, not that the raw chicken wings on 3 out of the 5 mixed grills would have had any warmth in the first place. One of our party ordered the fish kebab which was so overcooked it looked like charcoal from the bbq instead of fish. The fish kebab was returned to the kitchen for a refire but this took so long to come out that while waiting the rest of us discovered the raw chicken on our plates and we had to go find someone AGAIN to cancel the order. When the mains had been cleared I informed one of the multitude of waitresses we had that night about the raw chicken and she offered us a free dessert I declined and said "just remove these three from the bill please" The bill came and to my total amazement they tried to charge us £283 for overcooked fish and raw chicken. I told one of the servers this was not going to happen and she needed to remove the 3 mixed grills that had raw meat on them as we refused to pay for raw food. They had already removed the fish kebab as requested. When we got the revised bill we all figured out what we had to pay and did so Individually, this made it apparently very confusing so the waiting staff handed over to who I can only assume was the manager as she came over to handle taking payment and oh my word was she grumpy about it. No smiles no thank no sorry your food was raw or burnt in the case of the fish kebab. Nothing. In summary Burnt fish Raw chicken Slower than slow service Lovely staff apart from 1 Everyone needs some serious training on how run a restaurant and how to cook and serve food. Such a shame as we had been looking forward to this. Will never return. May I suggest you nip over to Marmaris to see how it should be done.

If you like food that is served in a timely manner, on warm plates, by staff who know what their job entails and is actually cooked - do not try this place. Yes, we are just coming off Lockdown, yes, people are still new or have not yet been trained properly and yes, the poor sods doing front of house are pleasant; I will give them the benefit of the doubt on that. But the cooks evidently have not been trained properly as of yet .

2 nd time I’ve been here and great service and food again . Always above and beyond. Best Turkish in Northampton by far:

Just the best lamb chops I have ever tasted! The staff were super friendly and the portions were very generous. You will never leave this restaurant hungry!! Just great food. We’ll be back

The restaurant is stunning, staff were so friendly, food was absolutely divine. Would highly recommmend to anyone looking for good Turkish food. Also, cocktails!! Wow!!

Food was nice, no complaints on the food. Large restaurant with only the two of us as customers at peak time so lacking atmosphere. Glasses were water stained so drank from the bottle. Waiter not great. Took our payment and whilst we sat and finished our drink he laid the table with new cutlery and plates whilst we were still sat there, very rude to do such a thing! Plus he didn’t clear the crumbs or sanitise the table!

Visiting Northampton from Grantham today with our son and his girlfriend. This restaurant is a little gem. The owners and waitresses are really polite, happy and attentive. The food was great, we had prawn starters, in a lovely sauce a change from the normal garlic...

Amazing food, been in Northampton now for just over a year and struggled to find a decent takeaway that we enjoyed, however with here it was great . I had a Adana kofte which was perfectly seasoned but also had great portions . My partner had the vegetarian mousakka and was also delighted. Furthermore when the order arrived the delivery driver was very kind and polite , overall fantastic experience and great food , definitely will be ordering from here again and trying the restaurant post covid.

Fantastic to finally have good quality take away food around here! We're veggies so we had the cold veggie sharing starter with stuff vine leaves, hummus and all kinds of tasty things. It came with warm bread which we didn't realise as well which was lovely to have with it! We had the veggie aubergine moussaka-delicious! We got some complimentary baklava which was exciting and yummm! Recommending to family and friends already and will def be back for more!

Avoid Worst Turkish food I've had in Northampton. Poor food and expensive. When contacted them about bad food I was told that I was wrong and it was perfect food. I will never use again.

The food and ambience is absolutely incredible. One of the best restaurants in Northampton. Even tried them for home delivery and the food was just as good. Restaurant dining at home during lockdown.

Today I have been to Turkish Gul Restaurant Northampton ( recently opened). What a great ambiance. It was an absolute pleasure to dine in at this place. It is one of the best places in Northampton to have dinner or breakfast. Their breakfast has a variety of selections which, is amazing. The Staff was very caring and friendly. Owner was very welcoming and payd close attention to our preferences. The presentation was superb and it was cooked to perfection even the Salad was amazing.
