Oblique in Northampton

Delicious food and nice atmosphere. Owners very friendly.

An amazing experience - this being the second time I had been to the restaurant (albeit now for brunch service), I was left equally impressed. The Full English Breakfast is a must for any breakfast-lovers and there is a wide selection of good coffee to accompany the meal. I had also attended the dinner service and the steak was cooked to how I had asked and was particularly flavourful. I also recommend the Spanish cheesecake with Calusari Pinot Grigio, as it was delicious - props to all the chefs. The atmosphere was comforting and enjoyable with good music accompanying it - it is a setting suitable for a night out with friends, dinner with family and especially a romantic evening; it is hard to find a restaurant nowadays that can host such an ambience. The service was quick (owed I am sure to the hard work of the staff) and personal, which I appreciated. And so Northamptoners, on a high street full of so many restaurants where you might feel spoiled for choice, treat yourself and your family and friends to an evening you will not forget.

Was greated with "if your coming again call us 30 mins before arrival next time" we only popped in to get a feel the place and have a drink! So bad start 😫, venue looked great, drinks average - price was bit expensive don't think we will return sadly

My friends and I had a lovely tasty lunch at Oblique today. I had the flavoursome chorizo bits, tender pork belly with griddled vegs, and yummy chocolate fondant. The ambiance was very cheerful and the service by Kacey and Mona was impeccable. I certainly would go again.

The best quality fried breakfast I've had before. Definitely coming back to try the evening menu. Highly recommended

What a lovely night we had at Oblique once again. Oblique still remains our favourite place to go for a lovely,relaxing night out. My husband come here and are greeted by friendly,welcoming staff followed by fantastic cocktails, food and continued friendly, professional staff. The warm,comfortable ambience and background music of Oblique also make it a lovely place to spend an entire evening just relaxing, chatting and generally enjoying ourselves. Please pop in and you’ll see for yourself what I mean. Were going to also try breakfast/ brunch with friends after looking at the menu!

I just want to thank everyone at Oblique for making our works Christmas party one to remember. We hired the whole venue out for our works Christmas party. The whole experience from start to finish was flawless. The venue is modern and so clean. We had a selection of starters and every single one was lovely. Then to serve 34 mains all at the same time, all hot and well presented was amazing. The food was delicious including the homemade desserts. The staff could not do enough for us so accommodating. Hidden little gem. Thank you again and we hope to see you in the New Year. Happy Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

We visited here middle of December, for late brunch. We had a full English with poached eggs & avocado on toast with poached eggs, bacon and tomatoes. Both were very tasty, and cooked very well. Service was okay, they were attentive, and friendly. Very clean, toilets were immaculate. Enjoyed very much.

Visited here for the first time. The Owner and staff couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. There was a lovely feel, beautifully clean and tastefully decorated. I will definitely be returning and feel more than happy highly recommending The Obligue

I came here with a friend for breakfast and I was super impressed, great coffee, great service and the food was great. Came back with my wife and son for breakfast and was pretty disappointed. Still great coffee, service OK…. But, they couldn’t accommodate doing a child portion, it was a bit “computer says no” when they could have just put through another item on the menu to charge us for a smaller portion. My avo on toast was half the size and more like avo on hot bread. My wife had pancakes and bacon which came with random iceberg lettuce on the top? As did mine. Just disappointed as I really liked this place before but I’d probably look for somewhere else given they can’t flex and it feels like prices have gone up (I understand why) but at the same time portions have gone down.

Excellent quality breakfast experience, great variety on the menu. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Venue is lovely to eat casually and catch up with friends at a very reasonable price. It’s my first choice cafe in Northampton. Looking forward to an evening experience there as well.

We had a table of 3 for dinner had 3 courses bottle of wine and cocktails everything was amazing,and would love to go back, highly recommend, lovely place and staff too.

Called in this morning initially just for a coffee but saw the amazing brunch menu and just had to order! A lovely warm welcome which was extended to our small (but damp) dog, even a bowl of fresh water provided for him. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs cooked to perfection and husband had the Shashuka. I wish he’d given me a pound for every time he exclaimed how delicious his meal was! Mine also was delicious! Wonderful friendly service, a beautiful restaurant and a huge thumbs up for the extremely clean bathrooms with White Company toiletries! I’m happily messaging all my friends to pass on how fab this place is! We will definitely be back as soon as we can.

Oblique is our absolute favourite place to eat on a date night or with friends and family. Last night we enjoyed their new winter menu and it didn't disappoint, again a fabulous experience. My favourite cocktail is still on the menu (Oblique Daiquiri) along with more cocktails to choose from. Service was excellent, attentive not rushed and my wine chosen by the owner to compliment my food which again was excellent. Starters were the new prawn dish and bruscetta generously topped with prosciutto, both dishes deserve 10/10. Mains ordered were Grilled octopus and my husband ordered Pork ribs. Again both tasted amazing, my octopus was tasty, fresh and light, the pork ribs were huge, really flavoursome and melted in the mouth. Hubby managed a dessert of a Hot Chocolate fondant (I managed another cocktail) which again he rated as 10/10. Please visit Oblique, it really is a treat for both food, drinks and service and really good value for money.

We’ve visited for breakfast and dinner and was not disappointed. The breakfast menu and food is wonderful and the dinner menu and food is amazing. It was quiet for dinner but I hope more people book because the food is outstanding. It’s difficult to choose so we will be back a lot more to try it all!The service was brilliant and I hope this restaurant stays in the town.

Service and food excellent throughout our visit last night, but problems with the menu. No written food menu offered, because they had some future changes to the menu coming etc etc. We were read out the options - we only had a choice of approx 3 starters and 3 mains, and for dessert only ice cream or sorbet! I know all restaurants will occasionally say we are out of x and y etc, but to have so few items on offer no menu was even offered was a first for me. As these were read out we didn't know what came with each dish or the prices of each dish, but to be fair I had an idea from looking at the menu before I arrived. Food arrived and all perfect and as mentioned, very attentive and almost apologetic service. When the bill arrived, there was no discount for the very limited menu and 10% had been added. In a busy restaurant with a full menu I'd accept the 10%, but when you hadn't informed us before of the very restricted menu it is wrong to add 10%. I'm sure with a full menu oblique is great, but ask first if there are only 6 items on the menu. Alas I won't be returning to find out.

This place has just moved to our number one place to visit! The atmosphere, the food, the cocktails and most of all the service! We have been here a few times and every time we come makes us want to come again. It's small,but,personal and even if you're a walk in with no reservation, they will try to accommodate you. The staff are so friendly and the food is great with generous portions. As for the cocktails-they are just fantastic. Once you try the Oblique daiquiri and the old fashoined you'll know.

Just want to make it clear to anyone wanting to dine here, Oblique do not serve halal food. We ate from the vegetarian menu and it was great! My sister had something salmon, myself and my friend had the good food bowl I think it was called. I had mine with lentils and she had rice, we both enjoyed it very much! Along with the sweet and savoury menu, the pancakes and french toast were on point. Looking forward to go back again ! Great service too, thank you!!

Food had to be sent back as 90% of it arrived cold. The manager didn't seem bothered by my complaints.

Fantastic atmosphere and the food is second to none, very generous portions beautifully presented and great value for money. This was our third time at Oblique and there will be many more visits. Going to try the Sunday roasts next.

As the heavens opened and Thunder rolled across the sky I found the only ray of sunshine on the Wellie Road. Oblique, a smart and stylish little Cafe/bar offering Brunch and Dinner from Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday Lunch. I ordered the large Full English with an Americano Coffee and both were delicious. By the time we left and the rain had stopped the place was full with a laid back vibe. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

this is honestly one of the best brekfasts ive had!!! we went here for our ten year wedding anniversary brunch and am so pleased we did. hubby went for the large breakfast and had a very generous portion. beautiful venue and excellent value for money would highly recommend!!!

First time I've been today. Went because it was recommended. We did have a bit of a wait on food but this was because they had a large delivery to do. They apologised constantly and then gave us a discount on the bull for being so patient. I will return as it's a lovely place and recommended by many. The owner was lovely and very attentive.

I was the first customer and the coffee machine hadn't even heated through. The chef took .y order and by the time the coffee was ready so was breakfast. Coffee was served in a cup with no handle on a wooden shaped saucer; effective and cute. There was adequate of the standard breakfast items (too many mushrooms for my fancy). The bacon was extremely crispy and the skinless sausage had flavour. The sour dough toast was a nice addition with real butter. Check back twice and a comment that in future ask for any item to be swapped out if I didn't fancy something. Worth a visit, extremely welcoming.

First time we have been to oblique. It will not be the last. Great food and service. My wife ended up taking her paella home because she couldn't eat all of it.

Me and my friends had a lovely meal here last week. The food was delicious, the portions were extremely generous and there was a wide variety of food on offer. The owner was very polite and considerate, he even stayed open a little bit later so we could finish our meals and our conversations. All round lovely experience and I would highly recommend

Out for dinner with 8 of us last weekend. It was very busy but overall we were still looked after well. Drinks are very good. Food took quite a while and there was a mistake made with one dish but gentleman apologised. It was understandable since it’s a newer business and every table was full. Quality of the food is BRILLIANT. Very difficult to find good food these days but Oblique does it. If I were to give any feedback I would say maybe have one more member of staff on the floor on weekends to help with the influx of customers. Will definitely be going back. Really nice restaurant Food is really tasty, place is charming and waiters are nice Coming every weeks!

Was very busy when we arrived but quickly shown to our table. Clearly, they were very busy and took a while to be able to order as there was a back log of meals. Cocktails were really good and wine helped with the wait. Food came out about an hour and 15 after arriving. The calamari was good! Others enjoyed the tomato and mozzarella salad. Mains were good a little disjointed, 4 out of 6 arriving together, then one a while later, and the other was accidentally forgotten. This was quickly rectified. Mains were very tasty. The stake cooked very well, and the chicken supreme was yummy. Overall, it was a really good night. Clearly, staff worked very hard to cover all jobs.

Confirmed booking via text and email I had booked this for my mum and partner who unfortunately got delayed by 15 minutes for their reservation as parking is an issue. On arrival they were rudely informed they were late and their table was no longer available? The management didn’t even give them a chance to explain. Management were not interested. They advised they should of called if running late. The restaurant also had contact details so could of contacted to check with the customer? Sorry unable to review any further as didn’t even get inside the door to explain Our table had already been given to another customer who was obviously paying full price and not on a discount fork festival booking Sorry if that’s the way you treat your customers I won’t be coming back to experience your restaurant

The restaurant is such a chill vibe and so lively at the same time. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The food was unreal and the service was so quick! The misses risotto was amazing and my steak was mouth watering. And they had a lovely chap singing with just added to the vibe. Will highly recommend to all my family and friends.

Went on Valentines and the service was slow. Took 20 minutes to even got a menu. After waiting 50 minutes they tried to serve our mains 1st. It was an whole hour before we got to eat anything. Main was overcooked. The restaurant itself was so hot that it put me off my food. At least one of the waitresses provided some entertainment by devouring chocolate cake on an empty table next to us. They also had the cheek to add a service charge to the receipt.

Absolutely fantastic. Went for tapas and cocktails and was not disappointed. The pork belly bites were out of this world. Without doubt the most perfectly cooked pork belly I've ever eaten. Everything was fresh and didn't leave you feeling heavy or bloated. The cocktails were done exquisitely and we watched the bartender make them with passion. Great atmosphere. Our new favourite spot and we can't wait to go back there. Lovely hidden gem, just what Northampton needs.

Went here with friends for my birthday meal and I have to say, the food, cocktails, service and atmosphere was amazing. I would suggest some different desserts for the menu but apart from that I’d highly recommend.

What a lovely little gem on Welly Road. So far we have only been in for drinks, the cocktails are amazing, The negronis and martinis are delicious. The service is spot on, the atmosphere is great, nothing to fault. What a great find, peeked at the food menu and can't wait to come back and try the food. We got mulled wine to take away for our walk back home. Definitely recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
