Madeira's is the best! I feel at home. The food is so fresh. The service is excellent. The portions are BIG. If you have never been, try it out. You will not regret it.

Fabulous food and very authentic

An absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the beautiful décor captured the essence of Madeira Island. The owners/staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making us feel like part of the family. The food was authentic, fresh, and bursting with flavour, especially the **beef espetada**—tender, perfectly seasoned, and the closest thing to what you'd find on the island. Hands down, the best one I've had in the UK in the past ten years! The menu is fairly priced, and the portions are generous, leaving you completely satisfied. The relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to unwind. Highly recommend for anyone craving an authentic taste of Madeira with top-notch service! See you soon!

An absolute gem hidden in a row of shops and takeaways. Sunday lunch for two. Specialities were recommended at our request: francesinha, full of meats and wonderful sauce, plus skewers of tender beefsteak medium rare. A jug of sangria followed by Portuguese red wine.

Just had lunch there today while waiting to go for an appointment nearby, food was delicious & hot service was speedy & friendly, all round a great experience, so much so after my appointment I returned for a cappuccino, one of the best I've had in recent times, I would highly recommend this establishment 👍

I waited over one hour twenty minutes for food and twenty minutes for drink. I was so angry I couldn't enjoy the food. The kitchen is too small for a commercial business. You can't expect customers to accept this kind of delay.

At the risk of exposing a hidden gem, this has to be one of Northampton’s best kept secrets. The menu is simple, straightforward, and something for everyone, and there’s nothing else like it in our town. A good Hardy meal every time, and certainly if you were a meat lover this is your home. Reasonable vegetarian options as well. Beautifully converted back garden, very homestyle environment . Did I mention they make their own hot sauce? Yes! They make their own hot sauce, and it is absolutely delicious!

Went for the first time for some midweek lunch, excellent food portions, great value for money all the food was delicious and the house wine was really good. I can imagine it will be busy during the weekends but this is a must try for Northampton! Wish we discovered it sooner! We will come back.

Madiera's is a hidden gem in residential street in Abington. From the front it looks like a takeaway with a couple of tables out the front. Then We found out the back opens up to a magical looking restaurant! The service is always spot on and friendly. The food is amazing and big portions, lots of choice and reasonably priced. I find it hard to find any fault.

Went here for the first time tonight, and I had the most amazing time! The service was on point! The atmosphere just lovely and the food was absolutely incredible!!!

My first time at Madeira's although my partner has been many times and raves about it. We went on a Thursday night (horrible weather) so it was quiet but the food, service and general experience was 10/10. Beers reasonably priced too which is unusual.............excellent all round, highly recommended.

Great restaurant nice staff and management. Nothing was to much trouble. Recommend it the Portugese steak and the prawns looked delicious. I will be back for another great meal.. parking is a problem but obtainable...

Used to be good, but now the food is a disappointment.Does not match with menu description.Very poor quality.Very slow service.Waited long to get some boiled cod and bruised boiled potatoes.

Had the Polvo à lagareiro. The octopus was cooked perfectly. Recommended.

Absolutely amazing food freshly made to order. My favourite is francesinha. The sauce is absolutely wonderful, and meat is always fresh.

Slightly confused about all the amazing reviews. Came as a party of 11 at 5pm (so rather early). Food took a long while, people’s meals came out at different times and we were the only table there at this point. Service was slow. The food was also nice but nothing amazing. Beef skewers tasted good, salad was something you could probably make better at home and the chips were frozen chips and the fish was just more cream than anything else. I don’t think they reflect well upon the prices really. Overall, probably won’t be coming back here unfortunately.

Food was nice and very reasonable prices but the wait was horrendous. We'd booked a table for 7:45pm Friday evening and weren't eating until gone 9:45pm. The waitors were lovely but just so understaffed and overworked, they weren't even able to take drinks orders while we were waiting for food because they were too busy

Went as a table / party of 8 . Overall great food etc , but service was diabolical ! In all fairness the restaurant was full , but no excuse for poor service. 20 mins to get initial drink , mains served at nearly half 9 ( we were seated at table at 7pm) !! Poorest part of the whole evening was starters and mains weren't all served at same time , some of us were finished before others were served on our table Such a shame as the staff are really friendly and the food is amazing - but the service and organisation is pathetic / really bad !!! I'm afraid I won't be returning - sorry

Food was awful. I ordered tuna steak which was extremely overcooked, dry, tasteless and I was sick all night after eating there. Avoid.

Go! Seriously...go, eat the olives, drink the wine, have a lovely time. And get the homade cake, It's a great.

Also, check out the caipirinhas !! -- Previously -- I have now used this place a couple of times for take away food. I like the look of the seated area. Simple, honest, no frills. Also has a covered area at the back for shisha.

Had to wait hours for our food, despite there only being one other table of people when we arrived, we were literally served last after everyone else that arrived well after us. It's a shame because the restaurant seemed nice and the food was good when it eventually arrived, but just absolutely terrible service.

The food was absolutely delicious; so tasty! The generous portions are well worth the money and as it's freshly made it's worth the wait too. The staff were friendly and didn't even mind me practicing my Portuguese with them. This is such a fantastic hidden gem; we'll certainly be returning soon.

Paid 26£ for two chicken skewers, rice, chips and salad. Not worth the price and the food does not fill you up for long. Designed to keep you coming back for more. Would recommend as a one off but not regularly. Decor Inside was lively and the staff were respectful.

Incredible food, the atmosphere is very warm and friendly with a compliment of staff that really know about the food they're serving. We were lucky enough to meet the Chef/ owner who was so welcoming and clearly passionate about his craft. We ordered a selection of dishes from hearty flame grilled chunks of spit skewered steaks to seafood and other traditional Madeiran/ Portuguese specialities. Everything was mouth watering, looked, smelled and tasted fantastic. For a night we were in Madeira! we travelled for 1hr30 to get there because of a friend's recommendation, we'll certainly be doing it again!

Great for families, we had 16 from 5 to 80. Good Portuguese food and a range of pizza etc. The meat and fish hanging skewers are impressive and tasty. We love the fish cakes.
