The best restaurants serving Japanese food in Scotland

Gar nicht einfach zu finden das Hibiki - da es unterhalb also im Basement unter einem thailaendischen sich befindet. Die Einrichtung ist nett aber nichts besonderes. Was mich sehr beeindruckt hat war die Qualitaet der vewendeten Produkte war ausgezeichnet. Ich haette mehrmals Thunfisch und der war wirklich ausgezeichnet. Preislich ist das Restaurant aber auch schon etwas gehobener - aber immer noch voellig in Ordnung fuer das was geboten wird.

THE BEST fried chicken I’ve ever had. Okonomiyaki on the menu which I’ve not seen on menus anywhere outside of Japan so far. They do huge pizzas too which look delicious. Fun and relaxed place to hang out. Good and drinks CHEAP drinks menu. Really interesting looking cocktails I’ve not seen before. I’m looking forwards to coming back. Every so often I like to treat myself to a little meal on my own. Nice to sit in the corner watching Naruto. I noticed families eating there as well as some other solo customers who sat at the bar, the staff were all cheerful and friendly without exception. Seems like a cool place to hang. The vibes were immaculate. They also cater to veggies. I’ve been searching high and low for a Japanese/chicken place. Really authentic food, lovely atmosphere, huge portions and unbelievably good prices. It’s well worth the minuscule 2 minute walk away from the main drag where the restaurants are all either over priced and/or quite shoddy. Anyone know what has happened to this company? It had rave reviews, I had friends who had ordered from them but poof they now cease to exist. No media explanation. Web site closed with no message. Very odd as they seemed to be doing a roaring trade.

I recently visited Nuku Nuku with my wife, and unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to our expectations. While I’ll speak primarily for myself, it’s fair to say that neither of us enjoyed our visit. From the moment we arrived, the service felt rushed and inattentive. It seemed like a delivery was being handled at the same time we were trying to place our order, and I got the impression the staff were more focused on that than on us as customers. I was trying to get a feel for the menu and asked the hostess a few questions, but it felt like I was being hurried along rather than helped. I ordered one of the set meals, which came with a few different items. Unfortunately, everything I received was overly oily — to the point where it overwhelmed any potential flavour the dishes might have had. I left feeling unsatisfied and a bit disappointed, especially considering I was genuinely excited to try the place. First impressions matter, and sadly, Nuku Nuku just didn’t make a good one for me. I hope this was just an off day for them, but based on this experience, I’m not in a rush to return.

While the food is good, avoid this place on Friday evenings. Service is subpar, slow, and requires chasing staff for action. It's cash only. We ordered two mains, and they asked if we would accept the second after the first. If two people order simultaneously, we expect food to arrive at a similar time, not after one person finishes. They need more staff.

Sushi was delicious, attention great.

Podría parpadear y perderse este restaurante, el frente es bastante pequeño y también se conoce como Rice Time. El interior es más de estilo café que restaurante elegante, aunque sí tienen licencia de alcohol. El inconveniente es que puede ser ruidoso, solo charla fuerte de otros comensales! Hay habitaciones privadas y de karaoke arriba, los baños están arriba, no vi un inodoro para discapacitados, pero podría haber uno en el nivel del suelo. El personal es amable, el servicio es rápido. El menú es auténtico japonés, he viajado por Japón un par de veces. Hay numerosos platos con un montón de opciones, incluyendo vegano y vegetariano. Los otros platos asiáticos del SE también son auténticos, han viajado por allí. Las porciones son de un tamaño generoso y los precios son muy buenos. Todos disfrutamos de nuestra comida y probablemente volveríamos. Me gustó la variedad de tés, habría tomado el helado matcha pero estaban fuera de ella.

Almorcé en este acogedor y tradicional - estilo sushi - ya. Atmósfera y boca superlativas - regar la comida! Pedí un temaki, una selección de sashimi y una selección de nigiri abrasado y seguramente puedo decir que nunca había tenido platos tan sabrosos antes (ni siquiera en mis 2 viajes a Japón). Estándares de higiene de primera categoría también! Realmente recomendable! Obviamente, no esperes precios de “todo lo que puedas comer”, de lo contrario sería pescado (no se pretende hacer juegos de palabras)

Good food, but the price has been raised and portions much smaller. Quite small portions and large price for what it is vs what it used to be

Good service but food quality was less than average. Sushi was Ok but chicken teriyaki was bad, most of it was plain rice, chicken was scarce and tasteless, and there was an evident lack of vegetables. Sad if you consider they charge £9 per Teriyaki dish. We won’t come back.

Disappointing meal to be honest. The sashimi was nice, but the miso soup was not great and neither was the agedashi tofu or the rest of the food. Don’t get me wrong, it was fine in parts (ie acceptable). But I didn’t leave feeling good and I won’t return. The mayo seemed thick like it was out of a cheap bottle, the beef texture was not pleasant, the speciality dragon roll was not great. The American server was also quite clueless, we asked about whether a bowl was from and she just said ‘don’t ask me’ and that was her approach to any questions. The setting and crockery is beautiful. But sadly, the food just wasn’t anywhere near the standard of sushi and Japanese that we had in Edinburgh. I wanted to love this place, but it just wasn’t for me. This was a disappointing (expensive) meal, sadly.
