Took a few sushi's for take away, not sure why the reviews are so high, but perhaps they do not specialize in sushi and other dishes are very good, but the sushi was not good at all. Salmon was tasteless = literally first time in my life when salmon did not have any taste to it and it did not feel like a quality that a sushi chef would use. Fried shrimps, were also hard and not juicy, hard to tell what was wrong with those (maybe not fresh? Even fried ones should be soft and juicy. Sushi at best was average, hence at least 2 stars, I assume other dishes must be very good, looking at the reviews

Hi I am leaving a note here for the experience of delivering today 30/03/2025. Spring has arrived and we were all very busy. I picked up 2 deliveries this evening. One for Morningside and the other for Peterstone place. Both in Edinburgh. As a rider, I don't know how long the order has been sitting, or when the order was placed. As I receive the job on the app, I decide whether or not there and then, to accept and make my way to you. On this occasion I was riding from viewforth which isn't far at all. On arrival, I saw two customers waiting, and I know it's a narrow walk in, and you don't want the door open for too long. As I checked my phone, I saw my two orders, I decided to confirm orders and proceed to put both orders in my thermal bag. I was stopped by (the Mother of the house) and handed an initial small white bag with one of the orders. I said I have two orders here and sent on my way. This is NOT a complaint or criticism, it's feedback for yourself about my experience. Sunny, busy, but like you you want a great dining experience and I want a great delivering experience. I had to pick up another order on my way to Morningside. So I had 3. 2 from you. Now I don't know what is in the bag and I don't know how long the order has been placed but when I arrived at Morningside, the main brown bag was seeping and torn from the bottom. I did ask the customer to check to make sure they were OK and there order. The customer said it's fine. As soon as I complete order, I cannot go back. So I don't know if the customer has contacted you. Another reason is I have little sauce bottles in my thermal bag, which I didn't notice, and possibly was from the customer at Morningside. Did they need this sauce to have a satisfactory quality experience 🤔 could I have been told to ride a bit carefully due to the contents of said delivery, but hindsight is great afterwards. Is it a packaging issue? I don't know I just wanted to let you know, because I didn't notice the little sauce bottles in my bag until I got to my third delivery. Anyway, I hope we can both learn something today. I will try to be more patient, try to pick my moment when it's busy to make sure I have everything I should be delivering and the contents of the delivery incase riding with extra care is needed. I‘m normally not that into sushi but this restaurant completely changed my perspective, this was one of the best food I‘ve eaten in my life! We had the california und tokyo rolls, they were amazing. The sliced beef was also very tasty. Recommended for everyone, they’ve kept up the family tradition for years to make this experience special.

This is a Japanese restaurant worth recommending. The food is fresh and delicious, the waiters are friendly, and the curry pork chop rice is juicy and delicious, paired with curry sauce, it's really first-class! I will definitely go again if I have the chance!

This is by far one of the best places of food I have experienced in Edinburgh. I loved the Szechuan prawn!!! Was amazing—do yourself a favor and try it. The prices are fair—for a Latino I would say cheap. Overall, great place and the staff it’s outstanding.

I love this place so much. It’s the best sushi in Scotland as far as I’ve had. The salmon is FRESH. It’s amazing and the owners are so kind and accommodating to gluten free patrons.

Lovely servers, food EXCELLENT and portions so big. Worked out at £25 each for 3 soft drinks, 2 large mains, 1 side, and 2 starters we shared (sushi & chicken satay). You cannot get this quality for this price anywhere else when it comes to Japanese food in Scotland! Highly recommend and we will be back for more. Really want to try the katsu curry next time. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

I was craving a comforting rice dish and this place definitely delivered. I ordered the aubergine miso and the pork kastu curry and both were delicious. All the staff were very friendly and food did not take long at all to come out.

Looking for a place to eat good ramen we found this place, and it was a success. It was also very cold that day and it was great to have something warm. The staff was very nice and they took great care of us 👍🏻, we left with good memories.

The Katsu Curry was delicious and authentic!! Probably the best I've ever had in any restaurant, and I've been to every restaurant (to my knowledge) in San Francisco Japantown that serves Japanese curry. The green tea ice cream was delicious as well. Everything was lovely!

Really chicken katsu curry rice dish. Highly recommended for a Japanese affordable mouthfull.

The staff is absolutely nice and friendly! The auntie is absolutely sweet and caring. The service is nice and they serve orange and hand wipe after the meal, very good for digestion. The dragon roll is absolutely my favourite. They are big and very freshly made - we can never get tired of it! The udon noodles is always my to-go in winter. The place is cash only, but there is a free ATM near the haymarket station, which is literally 5 mins walk away from the restaurant. They also do bank transfer, so do check with the staff! Absolutely recommended - me and my partner visit this restaurant every time when we are in Edinburgh since we moved away!

We stumbled across Chizuru after failing to get a table at Pizza Geeks, Pomo and Fava as we wanted to grab something before watching hockey we didn't have any bookings. It is very cosy, warm place! Food is very delicious and warms up very well! I cannot say anything bad about it! They were good dishes with fresh ingredients. It is a cash only place, with BYOB option(£2 glass charge) and it is advisable to vacate the table after 1.5 hours which considering how limited their space is it is a reasonable request. I would definitely go again!

Food is incredibly fantastic, I have never felt disappointed as this is my go to place, Staff are friendly and accommodating. Service is fast, atmosphere is quiet as the restaurant is quite small, its not loud and overpowering .

I've been eating supermarket sushi for too long 🤣🤣🤣 This food is on another planet. The quality of the fish is incredibly high, with genuine wasabi that almost burnt my mouth off. I can't wait to return.

We came following Google reviews and we were not disappointed! The choice is rich and the food is excellent. The dishes are prepared with care, inexpensive and served with a smile! The staff is incredibly kind. I advise you to make a reservation if you are coming with more than two people because it fills up quickly. Once again congratulations to the chef and the team for this great meal! :)

Excellent food and reasonably priced

Such delicious food, amazing service, and cosy atmosphere! This is by far the best sushi places in Edinburgh. 🍣 It is a family run restaurant and can get busy at times so booking is recommended! I think they also do a set menu on the weekdays 😋 We had the eel nigiri, rainbow roll, golden roll, salt and chili chicken and a side of fried noodles. They were all 10/10 (the eel nigiri and the golden roll are a must try)! The prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are generous! Their food is also so good!! They accept cash only but also if you forget they take bank transfers! I will be visiting every time I crave sushi!

First time coming by and I have to say… the spicy salt and pepper squid tasted like pure 24-karat gold! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

We have visited about 7 times and we always have had great service and a lovely meal. Food fantastic from the fresh sushi to the fried items. Love the Volcano Roll and also pretty much every kind of salt and pepper dish (tofu, prawn, crab) YUM! It is also byob but they have lovely soft drinks including appletizer and others

Restaurant discovered somewhat randomly during our walk in the center of Edinburgh. Superb address with very good dishes (we went back a second time because it was so good), friendly atmosphere and very friendly staff. Remember to book to have a table. We will definitely come back on our next trip.

Really great food, and fast, friendly, staff. Only thing keeping from a five star rating is we didn’t realize we needed a reservation. Still, they were very accommodating with fast takeaway. Make sure you make a reservation and you’ll be golden!

Delicious food and detail-oriented service. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. They also let you BYOB for £2 pp, which is nice. Finally, the decor was cute and unique. Not necessarily a con, but keep in mind that quite a few items on the menu are fried. Highly recommend, though!

This is a lovely family owned restaurant serves up some very fresh and delicious sushi. Came here with my fiancé for lunch while visiting Edinburgh for the fringe festival and loved the food so much we came again for dinner the next night. We ordered the Mango roll (prawn tempura - the presentation of the mango is elite), Norwegian roll (Salmon), Soft shell Crab roll and Omakase (tuna, salmon, scallop, squid and one other fish I forgot the name of). All had amazing taste and felt like great value price was as well. Would highly recommend this place!

What a great find when visiting Edinburgh. They are dog friendly and even provided a chair at the table for our dog to sit on. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful and advised us when we were about to order too much food. The food was just fantastic - all freshly prepared and so tasty. It is cash only and they don’t serve alcohol but you can take your own in. We will definitely visit again when back in Edinburgh.

Great atmosphere, incredible service and the best sushi in Edinburgh!

Amazing fusion - wouldn’t normally trust a restaurant with a large menu but was recommended by a friend. Everything was so fresh and really really delicious. Every dish was fantastic. We had - Spicy Edamame, prawn tempura (massive!), kataifi prawns, veggie gyozas, Norwegian roll, Californian roll and king prawn fried noodles.

The food is decent. However the staff was rude and rushed us to leave quoting someone else is waiting for the table while me and my friend were still eating. (We were only there for about an hour at the time including the whole waiting time for a table and order and etc). Extremely unpleasant experience - would not recommend

The teriyaki beef wasn't tender at all, unfortunately. The waitresses were friendly and attentive, on the downside they only accept cash (so make sure you go to an ATM first) and they don't serve alcohol (but you can bring your own for a little surcharge).

First time writing a review but this restaurant definitely deserves one. We've been in Edinburgh for a week for holiday and Chizuru Tei is by far the best option for delicious and fairly-priced food. They give big portions served by the most pleasant staff we have met. Definitely give them a try if youre in the area.

Been going to this restaurant since 2017 and still coming back. The foods are delicious and good portion for the price. The owner and staffs are always welcoming us. Definitely one of our top list restaurant in Edinburgh. Ps: some of our most like dishes are volcano roll, pork katsu curry rice, soft shell crab maki/ tempura, unagi rice, tofu satay and hot and sour soup on cold days

I'm usually tentative about "fusion" places, but this place has it down to a T. I tried the Chinese hot and sour soup which was a delight and warning. Then the katsu chicken curry was extremely pleasant, chicken crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. The katsu sauce tasted authentic and just how you want it in the all too famous Katsu! Service was good and the atmosphere was comforting.

The price of the items were excellent, I Had the Dynamite Pork Ramen, the Volcano Roll, and a Gingerbeer. The experience was wonderful.

I ordered sushi and chicken fried rice and everything was dry. I had a sushi platter which wasn't fresh at all, especially the salmon which was chewy, the spider roll was salty and too oily, and the chicken fried rice was dry and had no flavour at all. Never gonna order in this place ever again.

A fantastic lunch for anyone in the Haymarket area. The Shoyu ramen was delicious. Great value Cash only but also accepts bank transfer.

Lovely place .. had salmon ramen. Soup based was delicious ,it’s light but rich in seed weed , also not too salty. The fried salmon was cooked just right not too tough. Will go back again and try other dishes on the menu.

This Japanese restaurant is my favourite place to have my dinner after my exhausted work. Every food is taste good ( that means the food is made by heart and their enthusiasm). And the price is really reasonable. Very recommend of this big heart small shop!!!!

A compact, but fabulous, Japanese restaurant with a lovely menu. The food is always amazing and it's good value. This is definitely the restaurant that I go to most often when in Edinburgh. It's well placed for Haymaket and the west end. Be sure to book. And It's BYOB and cash only.

Excellent service. They only accept cash and it can be inconvenient but they treat you very well and the food is good for a good price. I don't recommend ordering chicken fried rice, it's kind of bland. I recommend the curry and sushi.

Food is good and big portions. But one thing make me disappointing is that they only accept cash payments. Not sure what the reason is but accepting cash only is very odd while mostly the restaurants in Edinburgh accepted cards.

The food was great, the portions were big and it was very tasty. The only issue I have is that you only get 1h 30mins to eat, which was just barely enough to finish our food. I understand that the place is small but it's not very nice to have to leave so quickly.

100% coming back for sushi! A cozy shop with friendly service, phenomenal sushi and decent mains. Our group shared the rainbow and volcano roll, both beautifully presented and delicious! Other friends shared the dragon and something else with no complaints. Eel Temaki (no photo because I downed it) was also so flavorful and saucy!! Some friends liked the Shoyu Ramen and others didnt. I found it interesting they had this, though I would also like to see other kinds of ramen instead of fried noodles. My fried noodle main was lacking, nothing bad but nothing good. Other friends ordered nicer things. I may try the fried rice or shoyu ramen next time, or just have sushi.

The delicious food. The sushi took a while but it was worth it. The only bad thing is that it is very cold inside. I don't know if it's always or we just had bad luck with the heating. They only accept cash, to keep in mind.

Absolutely amazing service and food! You can tell the Ingredients are fresh. Although you sometimes have to wait a while for the food that's only because it's made fresh! I would also recommend booking a table in advance!
