Don Ya Sushi in Glasgow City

Food is fresh and 🤤 🤤🤤. Only lil gripe is: wish there was some ginger and fresh chilli with it, as well as a lil more soy sauce. Yummy 😋

No flavour on the sushi, absolutely none, and the donburi’s veg was undercooked and chicken had barely any teriyaki sauce. Feeling ripped off with how expensive it was.

Good food, bordering excellent, but the ramen quality was average, fast, well packed. Will use again.

Found a gem! The fish was super fresh, the service was so friendly, and the whole vibe was really warm and comfortable.

I have not received my order at all. It is marked as delivered and when calling the restaurant half an hour later they said it is on its way and the second call they said it is packing . I asked for a full refund

I ordered the Bento Box. It was very tasty, but it was cold and the sauces had mixed together and spilled all over the box, making the rice and gyoza soggy.

its halal, but the soup is using the pork broth. so need to ask them if you dont want pork broth and want miso soup

A hidden gem 💎 Booked a table at Don Ya for my birthday, everything we had was delicious and fresh but also beautifully served, almost too pretty to eat - I especially liked the salmon & ikura donburi, teishoku set and beef tataki. I will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Came here during lunch time, it wasn’t busy. The lady who served us was very lovely 🥰and all the staff were all friendly. I love their serveware so much 🥹 We ordered the mixed tempura (it had green beans, king prawn, sweet potato, aubergine. They were very crispy yet light.) We also got the crazy dragon roll, this was soo good, especially if you like the eel flavor (like me🤭🤭) The sushi set is the ume set (with fried chicken), nigiri were smaller than I’m used to but the fish were good quality. Overall, everything was great. I will be coming back for sure ☺️☺️

Good restaurant, but some of the dishes we ordered weren’t great- for example the volcano roll came topped with cheese slices- which not only did not taste good but were not disclosed in the menu description so was very disappointing. The salmon teriyaki donburi was also dry and overcooked, and seemed to be deep-fried, which we were not expecting. The miso soup was flavorless unfortunately, but the prawn temaki and avocado maki were fantastic! Just make sure you order the right stuff off the menu!

Had a feast here and got a good mix of sushi dishes to try. We were about £35 each, we got a generous selection of sushi plus 2 beers – not bad at all for the quality and quantity. Here’s what we got in order of preference: 🍱Unagi Roll 🐙Takoyaki 🌈Rainbow Roll 🍙Spicy Tuna Temaki 🍣Salmon Roe Nigiri 🥑Avocado Maki 🥣Miso Soup 🍣Tuna Sashimi 🐙Tako Sashimi Starting with 🍱Unagi Roll, which was definitely my favorite of the bunch. Perfectly tender eel with a smoky and sweet flavour – unreal. 🐙 Takoyaki was another hit, crispy outside with a rich, creamy filling. 🍙Spicy Tuna Temaki was also solid, proper tuna strips and packed a nice bit of heat. 🌈Rainbow Roll was colourful and had a great 🍣Salmon Roe Nigiri was fresh with that pop of roe. 🥑Avocado Maki was simple but a good palate cleanser after some of the richer items. 🥣Miso Soup was warm and comforting, although not a standout among the spread. The sashimi –usually my fav- was probably the weakest of the selection, 🐙octopus was a bit chewier than I prefer and lacked flavour and 🍣tuna sashimi didn’t wow me either. Overall, Don Ya Sushi put out an impressive spread that I felt was worth every penny. Great quality, fresh ingredients and tons of variety to keep things interesting. Excellent Sushi. Ordered probably 20 pieces of Nigiri and they were all high quality. Fish was amazing quality. Highlight was wagyu nigiri that was quite unique and garnished nicely. Will be back next time I’m in Glasgow.

Ramen was a bit cold, but the food was delicious

I think this is the best sushi restaurant in Glasgow. Big portions, good princes and the staff is really friendly. The atmosphere is really nice too. Just keep it going and thank you. ☺️

My personal favourite place to order sushi from, the delivery people are always so kind, and despite the fact the restaurant is quite far from my house they always arrive quite fast. If i could give 10 stars I would! Best sushi restaurant in all of Glasgow. I love their chicken gyoza alongside their salmon sets, both taste amazing.

Easily missed location, within walking distance of the subway. The food is very nice and reasonably priced. The calamari rings were very nice and the sushi was delicious. There were plenty of seating available during our visit at lunch time. Staff were friendly and menu was extensive. Definitely worth visiting again

We walk past this place all the time and popped in on a quiet Tuesday evening, this place blew our expectations. The fried tofu and low carb salmon jalapeño starters were amazing. My partner loved the spicy beef ramen and I the volcano roll. The service was also fantastic - we will definitely be back

First time there. The starters and sushi were divine and then ordered seafood sukiaki. Pot was just left there, no guidance on how to cook. The seafood came FROZEN and I had to boil everything to be ready to eat. Do not recommend.

This place is a hidden gem! Attended with a party of 3 to try the sushi platters. All three of us had a great time Sushi was lovely and wait staff were very friendly. I had the Bamboo platter which contained Salmon, Tuna and Shrimp Nigiri and also a Salmon and Avocado sushi roll, all of which were superb. Can't wait to come back on my next visit.

Came here with my family. Children 13 & 11. Amazing food and really welcoming staff. Tucked away out of the centre you're not going to stumble on it, it's well worth seeking out for an unusual, authentic and really special meal. Definitely coming back.

The best sashimi ive ever had, without question. I ordered spicy edamame and they brought salted edamame, but i cant bring myself to give anything less than 5 stars as the food was incredible. Older lady who delivered it was adorable too.

Found this restaurant as it was 2 mins from an air bnb I was staying in. Everything was amazing. Presentation stunning. Chef/other staff lovely. Gutted I don’t live here all the time but if I’m ever back in this area will definitely visit again. In my photos are green tea, grilled eel, edamame beans 🫛 and bamboo sushi set 🍣

The sushi here is so good!! They give a good amount of fish and not too much rice. The wagyu is amazing and super fresh salmon. Also, the woman working here is so nice and always makes us feel comfortable. All of the staff is so professional and joy to encounter. Love it ❤️

Don Ya is outstanding for me every time! Probably the only place in Glasgow that I find consistent with sitting in and deliveries. Although the former is my favourite, it's always been great delivered too, and to top it off.... they seem like the nicest people running it! 🍜🍣

The food was absolutely amazing, definitely the best we have had from the city centre. Food was marked as delivered, but not received, but when I phoned the restaurant they were very helpful and when the food arrived, it was someone from the restaurant rather than a third party. Very apologetic that it was 'late', despite being in plenty of time. Really recommend giving the place a shot!

A solid Japanese restaurant in Glasgow West end. The food was super fresh and the service was prompt. Nowhere comes close to Edinburgh's Chiruzu Tei, but that's not so handy when you're out in Glasgow ;)

Fantastic food. Good portions. I've tried a fair few Japanese takeout's from a good number of places but this is the best I've had, it's amazing. The most authentic I've had too, they really know what they're doing.

Amazing sushi the best in glasgow,fresh fish and outstanding quality. staff were so friendly and lovely . Just one negative we were cold in the restaurant kept my jacket on , I didn't say anything though so my issue . Would 100 percent go back and recommend to friends and family.

This place is a favourite of mine and my brothers we split two sushi sets and a mixed seafood rice and had 4 beers each total was £94 and worth every penny. the staff are super friendly and the food is amazing, portion sizes are perfect always wind up leaving with a takeaway bag for any leftovers. Will be back soon !!

Nigiri is about half the usual/commercial size, but all sushi is fresh and delicious. Will definitely order again

We came here for the sukiyaki and we were not disappointed! The sukiyaki portion is quite big for 2 person and it’s really tasty! The waiter is very friendly too, overall a very brilliant experience!

This place is a gem!! I was blown away (being used to sushi in NYC) to find this restaurant. First, the owner/hostess is awesome! So friendly, kind and welcoming. She wants you to enjoy your meal. Second, the appetizers she recommended were fabulous. If you haven’t eaten the house made beef appetizer (choose from wagyu or regular beef) or the king prawn appetizer - you are missing out! We ordered the beef appetizer twice because we loved it so much! Third, the sushi rolls were perfect! Fresh fish, rolled nicely and great flavors! This is by far the best sushi I’ve had in Scotland. We will be repeat customers here! Also - the sake sampler is perfect if you’re new to sake. We also ordered a bottle from the menu. The hostess recommended that as well. It was all amazing!! So grateful for this place! It’s a cozy setting and you feel at home. I highly recommend this place if you love sushi ❤️

Glasgow has a lot of sushi restaurants and this is by far the best I have ever had! The sushi is always perfect and the California rolls are amazing! I live close and do collection and it is so fast

Delicious sushi at a respectable price, with a diverse, high-quality menu that contained pictures of every option. Waiting staff were a bit hesitant and slow to understand.

Came here for an anniversary dinner. Everyone we met there was very warm and welcoming. The restaurant itself is small but cute, with lovely lanterns on the wall. But the food is the real star - everything we tried was outstanding! We got a range of small plates + one of the sushi combo options, all of which were gorgeous in looks and flavour. We've ordered from here on Deliveroo a few times but it's much better in person - do check it out!

Best sushi I have had in Scotland! Fresh sashimi, perfectly shaped nigiris and rolls and very attentive service. I had the Salmon Set, Miso Soup and Sweet Shrimp nigiri, cannot recommend enough. The vegetarian house special was very tasty too!

Wonderful, quaint restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. It was quiet when my partner and I went (Saturday night, about 7.30PM). The staff were attentive but not overbearing, and the food was gorgeous! Of note was the scallop and salmon sashimi; the former was sweet -- something I've yet to taste from other Japanese restaurants I've been to! Overall, 10/10 would recommend to anybody looking for good sushi & drinks.
