Oiishi Japanese Cuisine in South Lanarkshire

We came across this little gem by accident on a girl's day out 6 people we actually went in thinking it was a Chinese restaurant but WOW the food was absolutely beautiful lovely atmosphere and staff where attentive and welcoming resteraunt itself was ambient and we will definitely be back Raman amazing sushi was a work of art ribs beatiful 100% recommended ♥️

Best restaurant in ek by a million miles

order was marked as delivered however it was not. had to call the restaurant who had to phone the driver. the food turned up about 10-15 mins later. food was outstanding

Couldn't really fault the place. Food was lovely and fresh. Lost a star because we found out the staff don't get to keep their tips. Shabby!!

Not a delightful experience. Grilled salmon felt like a microwaved mackerel from Tesco sprinkled with salt, and not proving a lemon slice did not help..so take this with rice. Too salty to be a starter. The shrimp had too thick batter (felt like you can stab someone with it...#exag a bit) and the curry didn't taste like the creamier Japanese curry (Curry not a good pick here). But the salmon sashimi was a winner.

I recently dined at this fantastic Japanese restaurant, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The sushi was absolutely the best I’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every bite was a delight. The tempura was also excellent, perfectly crispy and light. You could really tell they use fresh oil, which made all the difference in the taste and texture. I had a amazing experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere is wonderful, providing the perfect setting for a delightful meal. The sushi is truly exquisite—beautifully prepared and incredibly fresh. The service is excellent, with staff who are both attentive and welcoming. A special mention goes to the sushi chef, who is not only highly skilled but also rather handsome! The sushi is a masterpiece, both in taste and presentation. I highly recommend a visit here—not only will you enjoy superb service and food, but you’ll also get the pleasure of watching a very talented and handsome chef in action. It’s well worth a visit!

My favourite Japanese restaurant in EAst Kilbride, the food is lovely , love the volcano rolls, all the dragon rolls , especially the fire dragon if you love spicy food, give this fire a try 😍🔥

The worst chicken I have ever had . Disgusting sauce

What a great place to eat i would highly recommend. We love getting the takeaway and they always put plenty of meat into my duck terriyaki. its quite expensive but you get what you pay for. 5 Stars from me !

AMAZING. We had a reservation but they were 15min late with our table. However, they managed to find us a table ultimately and gave us a drink on the house. The service was excellent and the food was super tasty. What’s more, the space was very cosy. We will definitely come back!

Best Japanese food around! I've been to a few places for example wagamama etc and this place tastes far superior! Fresh, lovely and even cheaper! My favourite place to go to. I suggest the Pork Ramen 👌 *Update 2024* Been going here over the years and was here this year, still one of the best if not THE BEST, Japanese food in the area, well done 👌

The food was below average, which is very unfortunate as when I have sat in for meals it was great. The chicken was freezing cold, soy sauce had burst within the bag and coated everything. The sushi has zero structure as it was soaked right through in a sauce. It was falling apart and I was not able to enjoy how you should enjoy sushi. I am very unhappy with this experience.

my delivery was missing 2 items from it and I had to phone the restaurant to have them delivered around half an hour after my original delivery

Have been going to Oiishi for 5 years and have always loved it!! Tonight we had a wee mix up with orders but as soon as I phoned it was sorted immediately. Not only that but we were sent free items and both the staff in the restaurant and delivery staff were so apologetic. The food was absolutely beautiful and so fresh. Thank you so much!!!

I couldn’t find anything wrong with the place. Absolutely amazing food, brilliant and helpful staff, amazing atmosphere and it completely lives up to the amazing Japanese culture. So much better than the overpriced places in the city centre.

Absolutely incredible food. I had the pork ramen and the mini spicy tuna sushi (I think it might have been called segura, but please correct me if I'm wrong). My friends who'd just moved back from the States said it was the best food they'd tasted since they moved back to Scotland. Tracy even said it was the best ramen and sushi she'd ever tasted. I would wholeheartedly agree. Staff were also very attentive and lovely. I've also had takeaway from this place before and it was delicious. A must try for every East Kilbrodian.

Best Japanese restaurant I’ve tried in Scotland, the closest to Japan you’ll get in these parts

Sent me the wrong soup with my ramen but we’re happy to replace the mistake which was great with no fuss. Food was amazing as always.

There was no dipping sauce last order and there’s no soup with this order.

Honestly, this is some of the best sushi you’ll get on the west coast, definitely on a par with Glasgow and only just behind a couple in Edinburgh. Discovered them during lockdown and had a few great takeaways, dined in a couple of years back and wondered if the quality had stood up post COVID, inflation etc. Happy to say it has, the salmon and tuna nigiri in particular were a much higher quality than you’ll usually see.

Top notch Chicken Katsu once again!

I've been eating here for years now, but our last visit will be the last. It seems that in dealing with the cost of living crisis, they've decided to drop quality and portions over putting prices up. This combined with easily one of the worst customer service I can think of means there are just better options that I don't have to drive 40 minutes for. Genuine shame as the food was truly excellent a few years back.

Orain was an amazing help when when placing my order and helped me understand the menu and finding vegetarian options. She's such a slay

Normally I only leave reviews when I have a bad experience. Today in that exception, I was in the restaurant today with my brother and niece and it was the best experience I've had in a restaurant the food was fantastic and fresh. What made our experience even better was the service! 10/10 very attentive and my niece was loving the interaction by the service staff. I didn't catch the staff names but it was a man and a women. Thank you very much for making our lunch very enjoyable. Can't wait to return again! Well worth the travel from Glasgow 😀 keep doing what you guys do best Sincerely Ryan

Really high quality and an excellent selection of food. The menu has great options for traditional and contemporary Japanese starters, mains and sides. If you love sushi Oiishi's sushi chefs always deliver amazing sushi, and yet again there is a large selection from full fancy rolls to smaller portions. If you've not tried sushi and are unsure of it, don't be afraid to order something small as a side or a larger roll as a shared side for the table. People can often be put off by the idea of 'raw' fish, however Oiishi use sushi grade fish that is the highest quality fish you can buy and is safe for consumption raw. Of course there are also options for cooked fish, tempura (battered) or vegetables sushi. I highly recommend the traditional ramen bowl, grilled Unagi Nigiri and the Black or Green Dragon Rolls.

I came here for lunch today with my friend and it was unbelievable. The sake soaked Salmon Nigiri was divine the Kaisen Seafood Udon Volcano bowl was divine and then all our extra dragon rolls were divine. ENded up getting a takeawway for dinner which was supreme and if you can get hold of that sparkling peach Sake then you're in for a treat.

We love this place! It’s our fav casual Japanese the Raman is always amazing and tastes like the stuff we had in Japan. Everyone is always so welcoming and the food is always excellent this is our 6th or 7th visit and it’s consistently good.

Seems it’s the best Japanese restaurant in Glasgow. Excellent food, good presentation and right portion. Price is very reasonable and the quality is well above what you paid. Highly recommended.

Usually really enjoy the food from here, however, on this occasion one of the katsu curry’s was inedible. Chicken was disgusting, hard and overcooked. Really disappointing considering the price. Delivery was long but within the time scale.

Advertised as having a vegan menu, when we sat down to order I asked about this and was advised all food shared the same oil and pans/woks, so not vegan at all. Left without eating.

Delicious Japanese food, quite generous portions, nice decor.

Probably sits between 3 & 4 as a 3 score feels harsh but I’m just comparing overall with other scores I’ve given on reviews. If you are ever at the Odeon Cinema I’d recommend a walk down to The Village where there are lots of restaurants & pubs. The Hunter St/Montgomery St is such a nice area - every town should have an area like that! (although I appreciate loud drunks might spoil the ambience at times😀). Anyway, we saw our film and wandered down to Oiishi and had really nice fresh sushi to start and then a lovely chicken chahan and crab schichimi. I enjoyed the food and the service was good.

sad about this place 'cause I love their stuff so much but it's the second time I find cucumber where there shouldn't even be... please either update the description on your food or just don't put it where it isn't supposed to do, it's not fun to spend 16£ on something I'll end up jot eating...

My family and I eat here regularly and love it. The sushi is fresh, well prepared and the staff is always friendly, helpful and overall, amazing. The sushi itself has to be some of the best in Scotland. If I lived closer I’d be eating here even more but we travel from out of town for it. Good sushi can be hard to find. We’re happy we’ve found it in Glasgow.

Take-out is brilliant. We have never been to restaurant but regularly get delivery on Uber Eats which is always brilliant quality so will definitely have to visit some time soon as well. Never had a bad meal from here! Good portion sizes.

Every time I order via Just eat from Oisha it’s exceptionally late. Unacceptable!

Excited to attend due to good reviews for my partner's birthday. Service extremely poor. 1 drink given at the start of the meal then no offer made for further drinks. 1 main meal never came after approx 45mins I questioned this to be told kitchen is busy and they only have 2 hands! Sat for approx another half hour for someone to take payment to then be told you pay on the way out and not at the table. None of this had been explained prior. Would not visut again as felt the whole situation ruined what should have been a good night. Big sushi fans but definitely not for this restaurant. Would not come back.

There's a couple of Karen's writing bad reviews for this place but rest assured, this place is excellent if you want good Japanese food.

The food was good and delivered on time. However one of the sauce pots wasn't completely closed and was laying on the side, so all other boxes where covered in that sauce. This likely wouldn't have happened if the driver had a big box to deliver the food instead of plastic bags.

You can't fault most of the ingredients, the salmon didn't taste nice but that was the only thing that was bad. There were a couple of items that weren't to my taste but not Oiishi fault. Would it have made a difference if I had ate in, maybe. It definitely tastes different to other Japanese restaurants I have been to. For the money spent I wouldn't go back and I am truly sorry about that.

I ordered the roast duck cherry kami oiishi sweet chilli noodles and received a king prawn version. I have a fish allergy and luckily noticed the wrong item had been sent.

Great Japanese restaurant lovely tasting food nice and fresh. lovely inside with the decor Staff so nice and so helpful Explaining what the food was like as hadn't tried there food before great restaurant great experience. The location of Oiishi restaurant is in a side street in the village which you could walk round is like going back in time especially at night a must to go here if in the area or even to try something different.

Outstanding as usual. Food is fresh, hot and in decent sized portions. I really love this place, it’s my first choice for a takeaway in East Kilbride because it never disappoints.

I have visited Oiishi many times with friends, family and with my other half. Every time our meal has been fantastic. Food is full of flavour and just delicious. We have brought my dad to Oiishi three times now- for context,he is notoriously fussy and never finishes a meal. Oiishi is the first place I’ve taken him to that he not only finishes his meal, but actually enjoys his food. For me, there’s no bigger compliment to a restaurant. We will be back soon :)

The Miso Ramen with Grilled Chicken was awful, basically flavourless and the chicken was a horrible texture, we couldn't even eat it. The Tori Karaage was lovely and the dip was great. The Kappa Maki Mono was great, loved the mini soy sauce, wasabi and ginger sachet are a lovely touch.

Came here many times before. This will be the last. We booked weeks in advance and were not given the booked table (despite the restaurant being empty) and the servers all had bad attitude problems for some reason. They misheard our entire order and then were completely rude and miserable for the remainder of the night. While the mandatory 12.5% service charge which they propose is to make for better value for customers over the holidays is just nonsensical. It seems that greed and poor customer service skills have taken over what was once a good family run establishment.

Definitely deserves the awards. The whole experience is incredible. The food is outstanding l can not recommend Oiishi high enough.
