The restaurant was full the whole time we were there tonight but our waitress Carla never seemed flustered and was truly lovely the whole time. The kitchen was slowed massively by the amount of take away orders coming through and we could see that and as we weren't in a hurry, this wasn't a massive issue for us. Even so, Carla was very apologetic and interacted with our 4 year old whilst he waited patiently for his food. She's a credit to the team there and, whilst the food was yummy it was quite slow coming out and so this rating is so high purely because of her.

Thoroughly disappointed, went for a NYE meal, and waited 30 minutes to be seen. Then another 40 minutes for starter and one came cold. Then a following 40 minutes for main, the calzone was undercooked and partly cold, and the pasta was undercooked. The service wasn’t the best, and felt rather ignored by staff, and when we told them about the food, the manager said she would see what she could do, then left us for another 30 minutes. Another member of staff then gave us the bill and we told her about the conversation we had with the manager, she then got her and we were given 25% off the whole bill, which didn’t even cover the cost of one main. Very unhappy altogether.

Generally a poor experience. The food was ok at best. Mediocre ingredients and much obviously out of a freezer packet. The service was dire. No one seemed in charge, waited ages despite pre ordering, getting water was like drawing blood from a stone. One waiter was impressively grumpy and rude.

Cecconi’s offers an exceptional dining experience, seamlessly blending impeccable service with outstanding cuisine. From start to finish, my visit was a delight, with every dish surpassing expectations. To begin, the arancini were perfectly crispy on the outside and oozing with creamy, flavorful filling. The calamari was equally impressive—lightly battered, tender, and served with a tangy, well-balanced dipping sauce that elevated every bite. For the mains, the standout dishes were the Milanese and the beef bolognese. The Milanese was golden and crisp, yet remarkably juicy, paired beautifully with a fresh salad that added a touch of brightness. The beef bolognese was rich, hearty, and deeply satisfying, showcasing the kind of depth that only comes from expert preparation and high-quality ingredients. The service was outstanding throughout the evening—attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. The staff were more than happy to make thoughtful recommendations, ensuring an unforgettable experience. Cecconi’s is a must-visit for anyone seeking top-tier Italian cuisine in a welcoming, elegant setting. I’ll be returning soon!

Miserable staff, very dirty. The drink sauces located above dishwasher for some reason and drinks taste horrible. Not the best Nero has to offer. Head to any other coffee place in Banbury, best thing you can do.

I've been here a few times, becsuse it is in a perfectly quiet location, facing the afternoon sun, with outside seating and the lovely Oxford Canal, only a foot step away (literally !) I like the thin bone china tea cups as it always tastes better from those; I like the position-A location and the proximity to the town centre, yet in a tucked away spot. I've only given it a 2* rating because of the following; ONLY doing a vegan menu, might be your political/personal choice, but it makes no business sense, nor is it very helpful to the public and families. Not even a vegitarian option, is extremely niche and short sited to 95% of your potential customer base. Admirable morally, but silly, from a public cafe, point of view. The prices are very high. Well, I can cope with that, if the service was tip-top, but it is only below average really. Although the menu only has about 5-6 main-course options (little enough), you'll be lucky, if 2-3 of them, are available AND they really don't seem to care. The most popular item BY FAR, is their home-made soup, so if they had any sense at all, they'd have plenty of it PLUS back-up. This is their lead item. Kitchen closes at 3pm, soup has run out st 12pm ! Come on, get a grip. If something is popular and gives you a good income, then MAKE MORE OF IT ! This is very basic business theory, not rocket science. No wonder so many places go down the pan......they are clueless. You exist, to make money, make a profit, make a living, even though you hark on about your "southern hemisphere travels" and working in "all the best cafe's", all that is irrelevant, to your bottom-line. All the cheap plastic/aluminium chairs and tables, don't add anything to your ethos ! How about some nice Lloyd Looms ? Not expensive, but eco friendly and look great. Nice staff uniforms ? A menu that isn't torn up crumpled paper with staines on it. Damn, you guys could be SO much better. Sorry.
