The best restaurants serving Italian food in Brighton and Hove South East

Intimate cafe, the food was fresh and fantastic. Excellent coffee too. We bought some cake to go and it was lovely. We had high expectations after reading good reviews and it was worth the visit.

Don’t GO!! Reviews good but had beyond horrible experience! Server was sweet, beyond that was down hill! Extremely overpriced wine & a disgusting, cold & undercooked pizza followed! Horrible food, go elsewhere!

Very friendly waitress with a big smile.And the Vesuvio pizza was so yummy cook from a authentic Italian chef . It was saturdy lunch and the restaurant was pretty busy inside and out, but i didn't wait long before my pizza arrived.

As I was planning a weekend in Brighton, I did some research on Tripadvisor and drew up a shortlist of five outstanding Italian restaurants. Some of them offered high-end Italian cuisine which is fine but there are always certain dishes I look for when considering an Italian restaurant and they didn't offer them as menu options. Given this criteria, I decided upon Cibo and was not disappointed in the least. I decided to book a table well in advance and it's just as well I did as it was very busy upon arrival. The greeting was friendly; the service attentive and we were shown to a table near the kitchen. We both elected to start with tricolore which was exactly as it should be: each constituent ingredient being superb. My wife then went for the pollo al funghi which she absolutely devoured: had she have had the nerve, it's possible she would have licked the plate! I chose the canelloni which was spot-on: not too tomatoey, very tasty and seasoned to perfection. We rounded-off our meals with my eternal Italian dessert choice tiramisu and bannofee: both were great examples. Even the chilled-to-perfection limoncello was just right. Washed down with a fine vegan Ombrellino pinot grigio, Cibo played its coup-de-grace and we left well-satisfied, even pleased that the high standard of food, drink and service had come in just over the £100 mark. That may sound expensive but it proved to be excellent value for our meals and the overall experience.

Waited for over an hour for take away pizzas from The Gorilla Kitchen on two occasions now at The Star in Steyning. We were told on both occasions that the wait would be half an hour. When I raised this with the guy who cooks the Pizza (in a van in the car park ) he told me that he had to wait an hour and a half when he went out for a meal recently and that he didn’t complain (so I shouldn’t either! ) Shame because the pizzas are good but we won’t be recommending them to anyone in Steyning. Lots of young families also waiting in the car park looking very fed up.

Excellent Sunday roast from a well run pub with something for everyone! Well worth being short bus ride out of from centre. Good real ale selection and well kept

Delightful little place tucked into Brighton's pedestrian district by the coast. The gelato is outstanding, and the chocolate mousse is delicious (rich, just an FYI!). A great place for a late night bite or for a sweet date with your significant other.

Lovely staff, amazing food. It’s very family friendly and the pasta is very, very good and well priced. Ice cream also great and coffee tastes lovely. Altogether - such a great place to have by a kids park!

After spending 4 days in Brighton, we just did not want to eat any more fish and chips. Somehow we came across this restaurant and we were not deceived at all! 2 minutes after having sat down, they served us some soup for free. The pizza we ordered was absolutely delicious (it reminded me of the pizza tonno I ate in Rome), the salads look fantastic and are great as well. The staff is welcoming and the prices are reasonable as well. I can only recommend it!

We came here for the first time on sat to celebrate my birthday, we had a table of 5 . We had calamari to start and the cured meats and both were delicious. I ordered the clam linguini it was reminiscent of a dish I had in ischia Italy and just as authentic and fresh ,everyone enjoyed their evening and we will definitely be coming back .

Refused to serve us, as we needed a table for 7, In spite of having empty tables. They told us kitchen was closing even though it was only 1/2 an hour after opening!!?? We live in Hove and like to try new places, but this won't be one of them.

Great coffee and a cool place to get some work done!

Nice place and warm welcome, kids friendly as well.
