Semola in Brighton and Hove

Such an excellent restaurant. Tasty, succulent, Italian food. Good wines, nice desserts. Service with a smile. Nice ambience. Grazie molto.

Had been several time before and ordered the same starter as always the burrata di bufala always came with flatbread but now served without so ordered some plain pizza at a cost of £7 very disappointing

Everything about this small restaurant is absolutely spot on: the decor, the staff, the food and the wine list - it’s all just as you would wish. We started with two antipasto platters which were easily enough for the six of us. We followed with Fusilli Arrabbiata, seafood risotto and one of the evening specials - braised beef ravioli, all of which got rave reviews. The house wine was terrific, both red and white wines went down well and are reasonably priced. The service provided by all members of staff was expert and attentive and we had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Booking is essential and I’d recommend a visit as soon as possible. Been wanting to come here for a while as had heard great things, and it didn’t disappoint!!! Super lovely staff, delicious fresh and delicious pasta. We had squid ink linguine, creamy mushroom fusilli and focaccia bread to share. Really generous portions and reasonable prices. Lovely in the restaurant and very clean toilets. Can’t fault it and will be back for sure!

Wow an incredible meal with people who care about their food and service! Their pasta home made is exactly like being in Italy there chocolate fondant is one of the best I’ve ever tried. Everyone who works there smiled and made you feel very welcome it was amazing meal and service thank you thank you. Will definitely be returning

My girlfriend & I visited Semola on a cold Monday evening (having booked) & it was very busy. We had a lovely table by the window (table 2) & the 2 servers/managers were both very friendly & happily explained the specials & made sure we were happy throughout the meal. I had Linguine Meatballs (see the pic) & my girlfriend Risotto Contadina. Both were lovely tasting with quality ingredients. I had the Napolitean Baba (Rum Baba) for dessert & it was better than I was expecting, having never had it before. I've NEVER had a bad meal here in the 6 times I've eaten here with various people, so consistency is good. The Aubergine & Bacon pasta in white wine sauce that I've had several times previously here is off the chart (for reference!!)

We had dinner on the 11th of January .We started with a mix of Italian salumi for two ,all of them were sliced at the moment and believe me the quality was outstanding. We then continued with Ink squid Linguine and risotto alla Milanese,they both were delicious. For dessert we had tiramisu and cannolo siciliano,again we could not found any faults with them. The manager then offered us a delicious limoncello when we asked for the bill and It was the perfect ending to a perfect evening. We definitely recommend this restaurant and we can’t wait to be back again soon. Ps we love the fact that the chef go around and explain the menu to the patrons, is a very nice touch. 👍

Visited here whilst down for a short break and liked the reviews I read. The maitre d was very obliging with accommodating food allergies and our fish main courses were lovely. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Whilst it costs marginally more to eat here compared to Otello it's definitely worth it!

Kept meaning to go here and finally did, took friends along for a festive meet up as we all love Italian food. We were not disappointed. Lovely fresh pastas and some decent wines too. Tiramisu to die for, great coffee to round off. This little restaurant is so far removed from the soulless Italian chains with its authentic dishes and the service was great, attentive and friendly. We will come back, grazie !

My partner and I have been coming to Semola for over a year now (on a very regular basis!) and it is our firm favourite Brighton/Hove restaurant. We always look forward to seeing Luca and Roberto, who always deliver the best Italian food and exceptional service. We have taken all of our friends and family to Semola, and they all express how fantastic the atmosphere is! If you love pasta and an authentic Italian dining experience, you seriously can’t go wrong with this place. We are sadly moving away from Hove and will miss this place terribly! Very tasty food but have a starter or bread as well, I needed a bigger meal. Good prices for Brighton and cooked fresh in your sight.

Family dinner, we brought our dog as well, and everything was amaizing! Food was great and staff were super attentive and helpful. Had the veggie lasagna and it was so tasty! Will definitely be back!

Best lasagne I've ever!! Had!!!!

Beautiful little restaurant. Service was friendly. There was at least a 30 minute wait between appetizers and main course, which was unfortunate. My meal was okay but my partner 's main was exceedingly spicy, inedible. When asked for a side of ricotta they did not offer it. They offered to make another main but we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for him to receive a meal. They comped his meal.

First time I have been to this restaurant and will certainly return . Could not fault it even on a Monday evening. Very attentive service and an extremely varied menu, five of us chose different things and were not disappointed.

Had a wonderful dinner, tasty food and amazing pizza. Sadly poorly daughter but as I was on my own with two the waitress kindly got us some calpol, very much appreciated and excellent service, thank you.

An absolutely incredible experience every time. Pumpkin and salmon gnocchi - fantastic, nearly moved me to tears with how delicious it was. Really great wine list, and the guys who run it are just wonderful

I want to try this restaurant because it has been told me that the pasta dishes there, are amazing. Well, I have to say that it's true but when I tried also the fish dishes, I was very pleased surprised. Freshness and test of an high category restaurant. Next time I will try meet dishes!

Best pasta I can remember having outside of Italy!

Great homemade pasta. I would recommend booking in advance if going for dinner. Would recommend tge squid-ink pasta, and don't forget some tiramissu for desert.

Just delightful … from the welcome to starter … main course and sweet! We took all the recommended dishes and wine and couldn’t be happier with the results. It’s a real gem in Hove.

What a wonderful and authentic restaurant. As an Italian host of an Italian meetup, I highly recommend this place! One of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to! My partner and I visited Semola to celebrate my passing my PhD viva and it did not disappoint. From the excellent customer service from both front of house and kitchen staff to the incredible food we LOVED it! It was also extremely well priced. I had a special which was pesto and potato lasagne, whilst my partner had the seafood linguine. We also started with one of the sharing platters which I couldn’t recommend more! My only regret is that I was too full to try their desserts. I recommend booking as it’s extremely popular! Can’t wait to visit again!

It is good that the containment barrier is still in place. Handmade pasta is very chewy and delicious, whether it's pasta with tomato and seafood or pasta with cream of mushroom. It's a big portion. The owner was very friendly. The environment is nice and quiet.

The best Italian I've ever had. I came in from the US for a visit with my girlfriend and we happened on this place while we were wandering for something to eat. The atmosphere is perfect for a nice intimate dinner. And the food did not let down either. I don't remember the name exactly but we had the Fusilli with Piccante e Salsiccia and when I say that the portions were huge and the flavor extraordinary it doesn't do it justice. Its definitely the top of our date night list. Desserts and wine selection are amazing as well!

The food was excellent, the staff were delightful, and above all else the experience as a whole was second to none. The menu could do with some visual work, as there's spelling errors and looks a little dated, which would be the cherry on the cake. But the moment you walk through the door you're delivered a premium experience.

I became a regular customer since I discovered this amazing restaurant really close to Palmeira Square. Nice atmosphere, authentic italian food, excellent customer service. LUCA and  team are AMAZING!!! As italian, as a ​starter I would recommend: - "antipasto all'italiana" which is  homemade focaccia bread  with italian cold cuts,(such as "mortadella" 🤩) and different type of cheese; -"Homemade Pasta amatriciana" made with "guanciale" as the real recipe requires🔝🔝🔝🔝; -"Torta della nonna" as dessert. Just  try it  to believe!  Pretty sure  you will fall in love ! Bravi ragazzi, see you really soon ❤

My god this place is such a little hidden gem. If I’m honest, the outside signage and decor doesn’t do it justice, I’ve passed by it multiple times and never thought to stop in. Someone recommended it to my girlfriend and we’ve been twice now, once on a date and I once last night to celebrate my mums birthday. To tell you the pasta is delicious would be doing a disservice, the pasta is AMAZING. I absolute love gnocchi and their 4 cheese Gnocchi I honestly have to eat with my eyes closed it’s that good. Their garlic bread is freshly baked and phenomenal. The waiters were so warm and inviting, even though we were one of the last tables they didn’t make us feel rushed and they were really hospitable. Very well done to everyone there and we will be back!

What a brilliant little restaurant! A chance find for us and a real gem. Excellent service, great atmosphere and fantastic food. Simple pasta classics but clearly great ingredients and great cooking. Spotlessly clean and taking COVID precautions seriously but without detracting from a relaxed and welcoming feel. Will definitely come back!

Staff here are lovely and the restaurant itself is very cosy and well presented but unfortunately the food we had was not quite what we were expecting and lacking in flavour.

I came here and ate with my flatmate and we absolutely LOVE the food. We ate an amazing Fusilli with Piccante e Salsiccia the best pasta you can eat in Brighton! I ate here with a couple of friends and as an Italian, I've been really surprised. The pasta and sauces are home-made, which is a peculiarly to find in a restaurant. I really recommend the Polpo salad: the octopus is well cooked, tasty, and freshly made. The staff is really friendly and gentle. Good portions and price-quality ratio. Highly recommended!!!

Honestly the best Italian been here 4 times now and it's honestly the best place its quiet not many people and the staff are honestly the nicest people ever they are kind and they make you feel welcome. If you are ever in Brighton and Hove I highly recommend you to try it because you will not be dissapointed. The best Italian restraunt I have been to the food is 100/100
