Casalingo in Brighton and Hove

We were very happy to stumble across this restaurant. We were in Brighton for a birthday party and wanted to have something small before we went. We were sat just before 7pm, really glad to get a table. The staff are really friendly and smiley. We order a large antipasta and some drinks. Service was quick and food was really good. When we are back in Brighton will visit and have a full meal here.

Angelo, this meal was truly a gift from the Gods above. thank you for your gorgeous presentation and warm atmosphere, i truly never wished to leave the establishment, so much so i wrote a poem; please enjoy Angelo Angelo , where art thou Angelo? food a gift, heaven sent , i could never give it up for lent, coffee and pasta, oil galore, thank you so much, me amore, Angelo Angelo, why couldn’t we see you, the espresso, however, a delicious brew, memories were made, birthdays too but nothing is better except you my trip to brighton has been made these memories shall never fade . thank you, and goodnight

Lovely Italian restaurant. Had the mushrooms to start ( which could have done with some bread ideally) . Followed by the seafood linguine which had prawns , clams and mussels, delicious, huge portion way too much, but not complaining 😊 . Had a lovely bottle of sparkling rose to accompany. Would visit here again if back in Brighton. Atmosphere was good, very busy. Couple of birthdays so restaurant staff singing. Lovely place.

We have been here many times because it has been so good. This time a Tuesday and quite disappointed!

We have lived in Brighton for a while but this is the first time we went to Casa Lingo. What a gem in Preston Street. Such a shame we only tried now. Totally recommend, excellent food and best Tiramisu I have tried outside of Italy! Will surely come back!

Gutted… visited previously with friends and was very much looking forward to bringing my partner. After being moved table, we were then forgotten about. While others came in and got their food quickly, we were left waiting. When the food did arrive it was delicious however our starter never showed up? We questioned this and were given it with our main at no cost which was a nice gesture. After then asking our waiter for the bill we waited twice as long while he chatted with everyone and ignored us… so we got up to pay at the till. The owner seemed very upset that we had a poor experience and was very kind however the staff and service needs improvement.

Amazing food and very friendly staff.

The food was delicious and the person was very kind. I went with my kids, the portion was sufficient, the pasta was cooked well and the seasoning was delicious. The staff in the store were so friendly that I ate there even more happily.

A lovely little Italian restaurant. The food was incredible, cooked fresh to order yet still arrived in good time. The prices are very reasonable too. The staff were great, friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back the next time the family go to Brighton.

The welcome was perfunctory - service was somewhat slow but the waiter was friendly. Between the three of us we tried Saltimbocca, sea bass en papiette and the seafood pasta. Sea bass was very good, pasta average and saltimbocca good. Wine was reasonably priced. Overall a slightly better than average experience. Three main courses one bottle of verdicchio and we were £96 in. More expensive than it should be for an average meal for three on a weeknight.

Wasn't planning on going to Casalingo, place I was planning on going to was closing. What a happy surprise! Great night, food delicious and service fantastic. All very authentic, I could have been in Italy. Thanks to everyone. Will go back :)

The food was boring, unfortunately they had run out of Parmesan cheese the night we visited... The waiters seemed tired and indifferent... when the bill came there was a 10% service charge added... a charge that was clearly difficult to explain. A big mistake to visit this restaurant.

This is by far one of the best Italian restaurants my girlfriend and I have ever visited. It has an amazing atmosphere and even better food which i will go into now. Atmosphere - The atmosphere of this restaurant is absolutely perfect for those who are looking for a quiet little meal or a celebration of a graduation (that is what we went for). Its quite small but that only adds to the charm. There are lots of fairy lights strung up across the archways and windows which make it look even prettier if you are visiting at night. Staff - The staff are extremely friendly and very professional and deliver an incredible service that is rare to find nowadays. In addition to this, they will offer recommendations and even alterations to pre existing dishes that other customers have suggested to them, which allows for unique creations to be passed down and not forgotten. For example, one of the waiters recommended that I try the Gnocchi (which originally has a creamy spinach sauce) with added tomatoes and it absolutely did not disappoint. This kind waiter also recommended places for us to go in Italy for the best cuisine, one of which being Naples which we have recently booked as a result of his suggestion. All in all, the staff cannot be faulted and are 10/10 in our books. Food - The food is downright stunning. It is some of the best pasta we have ever had in our entire lives rivalled only by that of the authentic stuff made in Italy. My Girlfriend and I have both had the Carbonara on seperate occasions which was second to none, it was simply perfect in every way. I had the Gnocchi on my first visit and that was also the first time I had it at all. It was a great introduction to the dish and I would absolutely order it again. My Girlfriend had the Cannelloni di Magro which both of us agreed was incredible. We also had the cheesy garlic bread to start and it was some of the best garlic bread we had ever had. Overall I simply cannot recommend this place enough if i could give it a 6/5 I would.

Real authentic pasta with very friendly staff.

We planned an early dinner before going on to a Cabaret Show. As always, Angelo and all of his wonderful staff were very friendly and attentive to us. We had Bread and Olives and Water on our table just as soon as we arrived and we were seated by the Window. I then had my favourite starter Tricolore, plus Gamberoni al piccante as a Main served together with Sautéed Potatoes. My husband had his favourite Main, Spaghetti alla Bolognese. He had a Large Glass of Pinot Grigio, and I had a Large Glass of Chianti. Eccellente👌

Best cheese sauce I have ever tasted, also catered for my daughter off the set menu. Lovely place to eat !

Found this restaurant by chance while walkin around on a very windy Saturday evening. Food is absolutely amazing, typical authentic genuine italian food. Staff offered excellent service. Had one of the best meals and nights ever. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Whilst visiting Brighton we came across this 5 star restaurant, excellent service and value for money. Staff very welcoming, will definitely return.

We went for dinner last night and everything was 10/10. The food was so yummy, I had the figs to start and crab pasta (best pasta ever). The service absolutely made it. Thankyou to this lovely business.

Went during a fleeting visit to Brighton for a couple of days. Really lovely authentic Italian restaurant, reasonably priced- food is excellent and true to Italian flavours, portions are generous, the service is fast and friendly, we went on a Tuesday evening and it was nicely busy but not noisy and we could hold a conversation without any issue. Not in the most characteristic part of Brighton but it’s reflected in the prices, ie they are reasonable and not over the top like in The Lanes. Very recommended and worth going if you are visiting Brighton.

Nice Italian restaurant on Preston St in Brighton. On the pricier end for Italian food however, everything tasted good and was enjoyable. Would have liked more variety of seafood in the linguine but overall a nice experience. Would recommend booking as it can get quite full up during busy times.

I had a lovely night at Casalingo the staff are friendly. A great plus is you are greeted in Italian and are great hosts!!! Myself and my partner went out for a meal this evening and had 3 courses and to say it was good is an understatement (it is amazing!!) The snails were awesome and are something I haven't had In a while so I really enjoyed sharing them with my partner and showing him something I love to eat :)) For mains, I had the lasagne and my partner had the chef's special ravioli!! Both dishes were finished without a crumb to spare!! They are generous portions which is awesome but you should come here if you're hungry and have a large appetite so you can try as much as possible :)) For deserts, I had the sorbet which is a trio of flavours that work together seamlessly. My partner had the cheese board which was awesome as well The atmosphere is lovely as-well with a calm/ romantic atmosphere !!! I hope to come back again soon!!! Have been eating here since it opened. Only manage a few times a year due to distance. Great steaks, chicken. Recommended.

Staff are super friendly and nice, they chat with us and help us take pictures. The restaurant is near Waitrose bus stop which is very convenient to get to by bus 49. Will definitely recommend the sea food dishes they server, ingredients are fresh and the seasoning are authentic. I order mussels and seafood risotto. Was great, but the risotto is slightly salty. The portion of each dishes is huge. So is good to share with friends. Didn’t get to try their dessert in the end since we are too full, will definitely try next time.

Visiting from Sheffield we searched for best Italian in Sheffield and were not disappointed. Food was as good as any Italian we have encountered and the service and friendliness of the host and assistant was lovely. We will be back next time.

Had an amazing time here tonight. I was a bit nervous about coming in on my own as my friend dropped out at the last minute and I really wanted to dine here for a long time, but the friendly, attentive server and manager assuaged my fears. To start, I had the Cozze Marinara and cheesy garlic bread, which was delicious, followed by the Linguine Pescatore, and topped off with the best Tiramisu I’ve had in my life. I had this with the house white wine which complemented the dishes well, and the manager even gave me a free large brandy on the house, which was a lovely gesture. Next time, I will definitely bring somebody else along as it’s the closest taste to Italy I’ve had since living in Brighton, and wish to spread the word. Highly recommend!

I booked a table for 6 people on a recommendation and the restaurant did not disappoint. The service was efficient and friendly (not at all rude as mentioned by a recent reviewer) The food, oh my gosh, was delicious … Baked figs with goats cheese, mmmm and bruschetta - the best I’ve ever tasted. My main of rabbit (on the bone) with polenta chips was a very large portion and equally as good as the starters. Would definitely return.

Food was amazing, restaurant was full and we were served every dish promptly starter to desert. One of the best Italians we’ve eaten in Sussex in quite a while.

Vi hadde ikke booket bord, med var heldig da vertskapet gjorde plass til oss selv om det var fult for kvelden. En service innstilt gjeng som alle har røtter fra Italia gjorde det de kunne for at vi skulle trives. Maten var god og den ble servert raskt.

An absolutely stupendous restaurant. The starters (bruschetta, insalata tricolore) were stunning, while the pasta main courses were wonderful - pasta cooked perfectly al dente with rich sauce. No real room for desserts - but had to try the cheese cake, crème brûlée and the tiramisu: all sublime. Throw in wonderful drinks, friendly service and a reasonable prices and you are in for a treat!

Amazing. We were a table of 12 dining on 26th July. The food was fabulous and service was delightful. Would recommend to anyone visiting Brighton. Will hopefully be there again soon. Thank you , Katie.

So disappointed, we went for my partner’s 60th birthday. I booked online and asked for a window table and had it confirmed it would be available for us. When we got there and said we had a table booked the waiter didn’t ask our name just pointed to a table that had’t been laid. It felt like we were bothering him. There were people sitting in the window seats but we decided not to say anything. Food was average which is a shame because whenever we go to Brighton we always go there. Also we were given paper napkins and noticed the other tables had linen napkins and breadsticks on the table. I also thought as we spent £100 a complementary drink would have been nice.

Chosen purely on how it looked from the street which proved to be a very wise instinctive decision. Whilst they were busy and staff light, the two guys running the show gave a warm welcome to my disabled wife and me. To boot, the food was top end, beautifully presented, hot very tasty and like the two guys, very Italian. Not cheap, but we’ll worth it. Highly recommend.

We booked the restaurant the evening before. They said we could have the table in the window for 8pm. We said that would be perfect as it was our anniversary. When we arrived at the restaurant. The table we had booked someone else was sitting there with no explanation we taken to the back of the restaurant to a table in the corner. So not a good start When they came to take the order I asked what dishes had black pepper add to them as I have a very sensitive taste. The waiter told to order the Chicken Milanese as the sauce didn’t have pepper in it so I did. When it arrived the Chicken was ok and the spaghetti had no sauce just some tomato chopped up on it. I asked where was the sauce and was told that how the chef had done it . They took it away and added the sauce. Found the service poor and the food was nothing special.

Me and my boyfriend had such a great time and food in here! We will definitely come back to this restaurant when we get back to Brighton! Staff very friendly, portion size was way more than we imagined and about the food, what can I say… one of the best Carbonara I ever had 👏🏼♥️

As soon as I walked in I felt at home. This restaurant has a lovely ambience. The waiters ensured we continued to feel at home, chatting away to us as they served us. I had the Gamberoni gratinati and it was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to my next visit.

Visited Casalingo with my sister on Saturday evening. Not my first visit and definitely not my last ! A lovely evening of excellent food and wine. I chose the bolognaise which I can highly recommend, it was delicious. The staff are so friendly and will help you choose from the menu, my sister wanted a little tweek to her risotto which the chef happily accommodated. I will be back soon Casalingo.

Absolutely delicious meal as always, a great atmosphere, the superb and efficient service Ive always received. I had a delicious fish risotto and finished with the legendary Creme Brulee which was so,so tasty. A highly recommended Italian restaurant

Only thing Italian about this restaurant, is the staff. Food was terrible, very cheap quality of food, but overpriced. Never again. One of the staff also a bit rude in his italian language talking about some other clients. Never again!

Excellent food, excellent service. This is a great place to go in Brighton. We went here a couple of years ago and loved it and thought we would ry it again and were very pleased that we did. They do a great starter which is figs stuffed with goats cheese which I would recommend. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Good service though food was a little disappointing.

Was utterly disappointed this evening was hoping for an authentic Italian experience having travelled after work from the other side of Arundel but instead was presented ( after quite a wait ) with tough chicken that looked like supermarket saver chicken breast,with no seasoning at all wrapped in luke warm pancetta with a cheese sauce with a skin on the top, as looked like it had been waiting quite a while. No bread or olives offered & food cooked & presented without any seasoning whatsoever. Shame as staff initially welcoming will not return
