I recently visited Coco Gelato for dessert and overall had a great experience, though there were a couple of moments that stood out in a not-so-great way. I ordered the peanut butter waffle paired with bounty ice cream, an indulgent combination that turned out to be absolutely delicious. The waffle was freshly made, warm, and had a lovely crispness to it, while the peanut butter sauce and coconut chocolate flavor of the ice cream complemented each other perfectly. It was rich, satisfying, and definitely hit the spot. I did ask for extra white chocolate sauce on my waffle, and that’s where things got a little awkward. The woman behind the counter told me she had to check with her boss for a price, which is totally understandable. However, what felt a bit uncomfortable was that the boss seemed to feel the need to look at me before deciding how much to charge. It gave off the impression that she was making a judgment based on appearance or something subjective, which felt off-putting and unprofessional. Eventually, I was told it would be £1.50 for the extra sauce, which I was happy to pay, but the whole interaction could’ve been handled in a more neutral, consistent way. Aside from that, there were lots of positives. The place was clean and welcoming, and I really appreciated the fact they offered free water refills with cups readily available. It’s a small thing, but it shows thoughtfulness towards customers. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, with early 2000s hit music playing, which gave the whole experience a nice nostalgic vibe. All in all, the dessert itself was excellent, and most aspects of the visit were enjoyable. I’d definitely return, though I’d hope for a more consistent and respectful approach to customer interactions in the future. With just a little more polish on the service side, this place could easily be a five star gem

Food was delicious - my son and I had pizzas, which were light and fluffy with lots of toppings, while my partner had a chicken dish with veg, which he really enjoyed. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The waiter who seated us gave us three adult menus despite my son being only nine. We had to politely ask for the kids’ menu. He then looked thoroughly miserable and disinterested as he took our order. We asked the waitress who brought our drinks if we could have some water for the table. It never arrived. We ordered a second round of drinks just before our food arrived. After about 20 minutes, when our food was almost gone, the drinks finally arrived. When my partner went inside to use the toilet and took the opportunity to also ask for the bill, the front of house manager completely ignored him while he rested his chin on his hand at the front desk looking thoroughly bored. When the waitress brought the bill, the card machine was also simultaneously thrust in my face, giving me no time to check that the bill was accurate. All minor things in the grand scheme of life, but we have met so many lovely people in our three days in Cardiff who have been so welcoming and helpful, that the poor service at Senor Valentino’s really stood out.

Had a 3 course Sunday family meal and the majority if us were too full and took our dessert home. Good portion sizes, good menu choices and food was nice (apart from roast potato - a bit hard) and my nan said her roast beef was chewy, but everything else was lovely.

No problems here. Food wasn't bad at all. The calzone looked good and there was plenty of all the courses. Average, middle of the road Italian. 4 stars for the food. However, let down a little by the service. All very pleasant but we were never asked for a second drinks' order despite sitting with empty glasses for 15 minutes. Also, at the end of the meal we got fed up waiting to pay and had to go to the till in the end. Only other recommendation would be to get draught beer rather than bottled please.

3 children and 8 adults. Unfortunately it wasn’t a great experience today. The food was lacking and the service more so. The food was average with a filet steak dish that chewy at best and a let down from previous experiences. The service was the biggest issue. There were only us and one other table at this time. We had to wait for both mains and starters and the mains kept our toddler waiting whilst the rest of the table waited. We had to ask multiple times where the dish was and when it finally arrived our child had had to eat from our dishes so no longer wanted to eat their own. We had to ask for second drinks and for a restaurant who had both a pre order and only around 15 people to service total in the building, it is so wrong that this was the experience we had. The tea in fairness did offer us the toddler meal free and 10% off. However the meal still came to just under £300 ( without alcohol) and for that price I expect so much more and would definitely try one of the other Italian restaurants around. My advice would be for the price and lack of standard to spend this sort of money in a different venue.

You must go! Cannot recommend the staff and food enough. The quality is excellent and the pricing is very reasonable. The staff were incredibly informative, attentive and very entertaining. The chefs were all friendly and genuinely seemed passionate when creating and serving the food. Great job guys. A thoroughly enjoyed meal!

Luckily got the last table for 4 and there was a lovely busy buzz. The staff were welcoming and surroundings lovely and fresh . Drinks and food were served promptly and I loved the pate with hot Italian bread followed by a more than ample serving of lasagne . There was no rush to vacate and all the staff were working hard with a pleasant attitude.
