The best restaurants serving Irish food in Derry Western NI

Out for for a walk and found this lovely diner on a weekend away from Galway. Fabulous breakfast served up at a reasonable price from very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Travelling from Canada we landed in Derry and were very hungry . Found the Broody Hen and had ourselves some lunch . It did not disappoint ! The portions were very generous , the servers attentive and loved the ambience. We liked it so much went back for the roast dinner ! Noornie was an absolute delight to speak with and we hope to be back and see her again .

Punto de craqueo para el desayuno. Un ambiente acogedor, asientos cómodos y posiblemente uno de los mejores lugares de Derry para sentarse. Vine aquí para desayunar y tomar un café después del gimnasio y nada mejoró mi día. . . ¡Sigan haciendo lo que ustedes están haciendo! ! (Gachas O panqueques son mi ir también)

3 stars purely on the basis of how friendly & helpful the staff are. Was a regular here every 4-6 weeks from opening till late 2022. Food was always exceptional on each visit. Revisited last night with family & was so disappointed. Squid starter was inedible & the sauce accompanying it was clearly not made in the kitchen, the roast chicken was a pan-fried piece of fillet & as for sides - frozen chips are in my opinion a cardinal sin in hospitality establishments in Ireland! Such a shame given the previously consistent high quality. Sad to say as locals we definitely won’t be returning.

Can't fault this place. Walked in on a busy Saturday afternoon and managed to grab a table straight away. Super attentive and friendly staff. Mix of drinkers and eaters but friendly atmosphere throughout. Will definitely return!

We came here with my family on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We were sent to a corner table and had to wait quite some time to receive menus. There was 4 staff, chatting away, not putting their customers first. Personal hygiene was doubtful as we noticed one of the ladies was scratching her head a couple of times while handling food. Another was cleaning the coffee machine and used one cloth for all. All the while, a boy was holding 4 menu cards being confused where to bring them, while the place was empty, but tables previously occupied not cleared. After we got the menus, we were still left alone for too long, while the 4 of the staff members were chit chatting. This was not a good impression and we walked off. They still didn't seem to care. Sorry for the negative feedback, hopefully it will be seen as constructive. When you work in the service industry, serving food, hygiene and customer care comes first.

This is our 2nd stay in the Shipquay Hotel. The previous stay was February 2020. Thankfully our 2nd stay didn't disappoint us. An amazing staff team, working throughout the hotel. Hopefully it won't be too long until we return again.

Excellent food, great staff, lovely ambience. A seriously good restaurant and value for money . Went for my birthday and it surpassed our expectations, an excellent restaurant.

Wonderful little gem .. had a beautiful lunch with the grandkids ..was served by a lovely blonde woman with glasses.. and hairband ...so friendly...The service was great ..the food was great ...and we ll will be back and recommending to our friends and family. ..

This is a lovely wee place, lovely staff, friendly punters, great music from local talent on Saturday evenings..definitely will be back more often

My friends and I were walking around the wall and I needed to use the lavatory. I saw the Anchor Bar so one of my friends and I stopped in. While she used the facilities, I ordered us 2 half pints. The lady tending bar was super friendly as were the folks sitting at the bar. We ended up sitting down and talking to some folks at the next table. We then texted our friends to come join us. We ended up staying for 2 or 3 rounds. The bartender came over and took a few photos for us. We had a great time there. The vibe of the place was just so laid back and friendly. We all loved it. We didn't eat so I don't even know if they offer food.

Class place. Very tastefully decorated. Service and staff was great. I'd go back in a heartbeat
