Scarpello & Co in Derry

Visited on a Sunday recently. Dont let the door fool you: the experience starts in the carpark because the aroma of the homemade pizza sauce et all will greet you before the amazing staff. Had the table booked because I'm not an idiot and we found our booth spaceous and bright. I'll try be concise: this was the most satisfying meal I've had this year so far. I opted for a chilli honey flatbreak and the burrata and friend (and son) went for two pizzas (one no cheese) and we barely spoke. The flavours, size and presentation all en pointe (yes i spelt it correctly) . Their decaf coffee is fantastic and their supplying of New Kid coffee is taken very seriously, as my tastebuds can attest to. The place is full of heart, the kindest lady on the floor is the owner & the man at the oven is her visionary husband. Chefs working hard; look up and smile at you. Read that line again! Unheard of. I dont know where the name Scarpello originates, but it has arrived in Derry with a reputation for excellence, flavour & consistent high standard. The only thing better than this meal was the consequential nap I took afterwards. Thanks Scarpello. See ye soon x

I'm a repeat customer at Scarpellos, any time I'm home in Derry. It's our first stop and it's great to get a welcomed smile and chat every time I come in, even if it's been months between visits. They are very accommodating to kids too - a true family friendly spot. The staff are so lovely and considerate. Mark makes a fab coffee every time & the treats are some of the best I've had - I recommend their famous cinnamon swirls, the blondie & the pastel de natas (comparable to ones I've had in Lisbon). The grilled cheese and pizzas are incredible, their chips are the best around and I only wish they sold their aioli by the bottle! Thank you for always welcoming me home to Derry with a smile and a fabulous coffee! :-)

Aww these pizzas are a step above your normal pizzas. The flavour combinations are mouth watering. Have eaten here a few times and never been disappointed.

One of the finest places to eat in Derry, Scarpello have the best sourdough pizza that I have tasted in Ireland. The bread is fantastic and their pastries and traybakes are amazing, especially the raspberry doughnuts! The staff are always friendly and helpful and the the coffee is also excellent.

Absolutely top class Neopolitan style pizza and sourdough bread. Antipasti, coffee and gelato are also excellent. We are lucky to have Scarpello's in Derry.

Picture this: I just devoured a delicious pepperoni pizza, and let me tell you, it was a slice of perfection! The gooey cheese, the zesty tomato sauce, and the savory pepperoni all came together in a mouthwatering medley of flavors. The crust was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way I like it. Each bite was a burst of cheesy, pepperoni goodness that left me craving more. If you're a pizza lover, this one is definitely a winner!

Went here on a Sunday night after booking on Facebook and really enjoyed it. Well worth the trip outside the city walls, about 5 minutes drive and plenty of parking. Light, fresh airy and interesting interior with a great view of the huge pizza oven. We ordered a starter of padron peppers in smoked salt which was a generous portion with smoked salt. I couldn’t tell it was smoked very strongly but it was a bit more interesting than just salt. Then the No 7 and 8 pizzas neither of which had tomato sauce as we fancied trying something different. Both were totally delicious- great toppings but the star of the show is the pizza base, soft with a crispy outer and the e slight chewiness of a well developed dough. Gorgeous. We over faced ourselves by having both types of fries, Campania (rosemary and garlic) and Piccante (chilli, garlic, honey and scallions). The piccante ones were incredible!!! Need to figure out how to do those, they were totally amazing. Lovely staff. Great place.

This place is an incredible find! It's hidden in behind a petrol station on a busy road on the way into Derry city and the chefs produce the best tasting pizza in the country. I've been to Italy many times and I'd find it difficult to pick a better pizza, even over there. Desserts are great too, I think I'm going to have a 'dependancy problem' with the sticky toffee pudding! One of the things that we, as a family, found really helpful was the kids menu. Getting them to agree to it was easy since it's billed as being for under 14s and it includes ice cream. They feel like teenagers and the gelato is impossible for ours to say no to. The staff are incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and great fun as well as being great with the kids. They manage to do all this in a busy dining room. I couldn't recommend Scarpellos enough.

Really enjoyed my visit, the pizzas are great and coffee/cakes worth buying also. Staff were tremendous and great service too.

Scarpello is absolutely phenomenal! My favourite place for lunch, dinner and superb coffee ☕️ The staff were friendly, accommodating and attentive. Chefs and management work diligently to deliver food of exceptional flavour and quality. Highly recommend!
