We enjoyed the food and great service. My wife is vegetarian and the main dish was superb. The restaurant was busy but had a good ambience and dishes were served at good intervals and dishes were of a high quality and appropriate quantity. We’ll return!

I have been meaning to go to Artis since it's opening over 2 years now but last night as part of my 60th birthday celebrations off we went. A party of 4 and as we entered until we left nothing was a bother to anyone.Serina owner/ manager steered the ship superbly and the girls on service knew as much about the food as did the chefs explaining every dish in detail.and it's origin. A great touch. We all went for a different starter and no complaints could be found. I had to go for 'THE DERRY SALAD' yous all know it lol. Well it had all the elements but the Derry salad we know it was unrecognisable; ut the pickled onion, beetroot, lettuce ham it was all there. Order it and see for yourself. 3 of us had the chateaubriand.and WOW it was excellent. I normally fo for fish but my wife chose to last night and although the beef dish was amazing the Cod was the star of rhe shop. The presentation and flavours were second to none. All opted for a different dessert and it all cut the muster. I settled for the sticky toffee pudding souffle and it came up to par also. The lightness and colours of the delice and apple bramley crumble was excellent. Paula went for the cheese board of sorts. I never tasted a cheese as good. It was from Cork and served with sourdough bread and quin e jelly with a fig. chutney. We felt this stole the show here although it just pipped it as the others were excellent. Finished off with a wee surprise coconut choc ice on a happy birthday plate was a lovely touch. Phelim O Hagen is a master at his craft and I hope he keeps growing because rhe best is yet ro come. Price wise was Just under £300. Now that included 2 bottles of an excellent Pinot Gris, 4 G&T,1 Irish coffee and 2 large bottles of sparkling water. Average £75 per head for 4 courses and a bottle of wine. Good value. We e en. woke for our wedding anniversary in October before we left. Summary. An excellent experience. Sorry we left it so long to go and can't wait to return and can I say the place looks fantastic. Clean and sharp. Keep up the great work folks and long may yous reign.

I chose Artis after a long search of Derry restaurants for a special visit to the city on May 25th. We had an early booking and the restaurant was almost empty on arrival but the decor and staff were very welcoming. There was bass music playing in the background which was intrusive, particularly as I have some hearing loss. On request we were seated away from the music but bass, being omnidirectional, the sound followed us. As the restaurant filled this became less challenging and may even have been turned off. My wife ordered a glass of white wine and I ordered a pint of locally brewed Iager which was quite sour and looked 'off'. The waitress had no difficulty changing the beer for a gin and tonic and commented that they had problems with the beer which she understood had been rectified some days previously. I ordered Scallops to start and my wife Lamb Shoulder. An 'ameuse bouche' preceded the starters. It was tasty but salty,by design, and I blame myself for not requesting low or no salt which I then requested and my request was followed. The scallops were well presented and sat on a bed of garnish with a fusion of delicious flavours. The lamb was a little tough but also well flavoured. The selection of mains was limited and I selected striploin steak as a safe option. My wife chose halibut which she thought was too small a portion and was decorated and garnished too much. The latter comment is personal rather than a criticism of the chef and the food quality. Despite emphasisng the 'doneness' of the steak as medium rare, and red rather than pink, the steak was served medium well to well done and was a light pink and quite a brown colour. It was dry and tough. I tried to eat it but failed. Annoyingly, the waitress pointed out three times that the chef had checked the steak before plating and all was in line with the order. She offered that the chef would cook another steak which I declined as it was likely to be served after my wife finished her meal, and it could have been equally tough. Although an alternative dish such as chicken was not offered, In hindsight, I did not request it, as I was upset that the evening had been spoiled. We left saddened that so much was right about the restaurant but the basic needs were not met and that a special meal had been spoiled. I delayed posting this review as I wanted more time to reflect on the evening. In the interim my opinion has not changed. I believe steak should be one of the least risky options on a menu but this belief was not fulfilled.

This was hands down the best meal I have had in years. My husband and I went for a birthday celebration. We opted for the tasting menu, and every course was divine. The meal left us feeling full and extremely satisfied, and the service was second to none. Would highly recommend.

By far the nicest restaurant we have ever been to. The food was beautiful, couldn't have faulted it, and portions were generous also. The fusion of flavours left me dreaming and wanting to return again very soon. Lisa the waitress was extremely friendly and attentive, explaining each dish in great detail as it was presented to us. She helped us pick a really lovely wine , and as a perfect ending brought me a beautiful little Birthday cake, which also tasted amazing. Anyone who visits Derry needs to try this place, it is a truly hidden gem, tucked away in Craft Village in the heart of the city. I can't wait to hear when they get a Michelin Star, as I've no doubt it is iminent

Disappointing- we’d visited in Feb 2023 and it was surprisingly that the tasting menu had barely changed. Quality and service certainly had tho… v slow- perhaps understaffed? Things missing from dishes (white asparagus) with no explanation or alternative and meat not cooked as requested. A real pity given it was the reason we had chosen to visit the city.

Excellent service, delicious food and wine. We opted for the 7 course menu coupled with wine tasting. I'm no expert, but the wines paired beautifully with our dishes. It is on the pricey side but was worth it to ourselves as it was a really enjoyable experience. If you have dietary restrictions, i would let the restaurant know well in advance so that they can accommodate you.

We had Saturday lunch at the end of February 2024 – starter and main course. Impressive food using local ingredients -and well presented. Small portions and high level presentation suited us. Very attentive and helpful staff - we will be back. Hint - located inside the art craft part of the city - accessed off Shipquay St and keeping walking.

From start to finish this was a Five Star experience. The staff were charming and informative. The standard of both food and drink was excellent. We chose the tasting menu with the wine pairings. Every course and its wine, from canapés to both desserts, was presented beautifully and explained in detail. This was pure luxury! One of the most memorable meals I've ever had! And I've had a few 😊

Food average, different menu from online, which was disappointing. Service extremely slowing some courses taking over an hour to arrive, no apology or explanation. Could clearly see the frustration in multiple other patrons in the restaurant. Contacted email to have this addressed, but there was no response, so I'm taking it here.

Dining at this establishment was like voluntarily subjecting myself to a culinary boot camp led by a chef with a penchant for turning premium ingredients into chewy disappointments. The chicken, apparently on a quest for eternal moisture, reached a level of rubberiness that rivaled a premium car tyre brand. Desserts, presumably crafted by a pastry chef with a taste aversion, left me questioning whether I had stumbled into a culinary experiment gone horribly wrong. Perhaps a plea for mercy would be more appropriate than dessert at this point. As for the service, the staff's enthusiasm for neglecting customers was truly awe-inspiring. Apparently, coat-checking and water-refilling are reserved for elite members of the "I'm willing to endure subpar dining for a hefty bill" club. While a Michelin star might be the dream, the reality is a black hole of flavor and hospitality. The only star they're receiving is the one I'm begrudgingly bestowing upon them—one out of five, and that's being generous.

I’d booked our meal as part of a birthday surprise. We’d an absolutely fantastic experience. From arriving to leaving all the staff were brilliant, nothing was a bother. The menu has fantastic choices. As each course is brought to you the member of staff explains in detail what it is. We were only able for two courses. The flavours are out of this world. Thanks for a truly amazing experience

Supposed to be a special birthday dinner. Firstly an inexperienced waitress spilled red wine all over my niece. She didn't even have the grace to apologize. The food was hit and miss...some good some not so. If you have any dietary requirements I would beware as we were lied to by the kitchen. All in all an overpriced and very unsatisfactory experience

This is my favourite restaurant, the food is amazing and the staff are all very nice! My wife and I come to the Old Docks every year for our wedding anniversary. My Facebook profile picture has been a selfie of my wife and I outside the door of the restraunt for two years in a row. My only little niggle I have is that the restaurant can get a bit noisy. The music can be a wee bit loud and at Christmas they have a dancing Santa who hands out presents. This is lovely for people who are into this, but I prefer just to enjoy their good food and have conversation that I can hear. The Old Docks are very easy to book a table with. I have a child with special needs and the staff are always great, trying to put us out of the way because my child has sensory issues. During the normal seasonal dining the staff have gone out of their way to also turn the music down a little when I explained my child had special needs. It is great to see a restaurant showing such understanding. I don't expect this treatment or for other people to have to accommodate our family's special requirements, but I am very grateful when they try to help us. I can hardly wait until it's my birthday and I can tuck into their sweet, sticky, chilli prawns and steak served with bacon and cheese mash and an extra side of mushrooms that melt in the mouth! I totally recommend this restaurant, it has some of the best food in the city!

My favourite Derry pub when I'm over. Staff are great, food is plentiful and the craic is mighty!
