Great food and service, staff were extremely friendly. Living in Canada I have missed a true British curry and came to the Star of Wales via some podcast recommendations. Since my first review, have been back 3 times over the last 12 months, great as always.

Ordered 2 madras currys It came to my door with vegetable sauce I rang up to complain they got my order wrong They didn't want to sort it out So they lost a customer Be careful wirh these while ordering Bad experience

Although I clearly mentioned in the instruction that the food should have proper salt and be medium spiced, but it was really very sweet and felt like having a dessert.

Had a great chicken dansak tonight. One of the best I’ve had :) I will definitely be ordering more soon.

Visité aquí con un colega anteriormente, la comida era increíble y no podía faltar nada. Volvimos a visitar hoy (marzo de 2025 ) y qué puedo decir, ¡perfección! Esto es para mí, y probablemente el mejor restaurante indio en el Reino Unido. Viajo por trabajo por todo el Reino Unido y este lugar les gana a todos. Bien hecho, no cambie nada, no puedo esperar a visitar de nuevo. Celoso de no tener esto cerca de donde vivo.

As we've had several times before, absolutely delicious food and great service. Always a must to visit the Bayleaf when in Cardiff - fabulous !

This place is amazing! One of THE best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to. I had the vegetarian platter which was gorgeous. The food itself can be a little pricey but it’s well worth it. The food was delicious and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. The vegetarian platter comes with a selection of curry/curried vegetables, rice and a naan bread. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Definitely book in advance though as it can get busy.

As a novice to Indian cuisine, the staff took great pride and attention to recommend a dish that was perfect to my tastes.

Years ago Spice Island could be hit or miss. Not any more. For about 18 months it has been absolutely amazing. Food is delicious,plentiful,and priced fairly. Drinks very well priced,not stupid prices for excellent wine. Staff must be the nicest and most helpful anywhere. In fact we called in on spec a few weeks ago,and we were lucky to get a table it was so busy. Now we always book. Highly recommended.

We had food here yesterday for dinner and was ok ok not so great but service was so awful and terrible. The servers over here was so unprofessional and lack of knowledge

The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, authentic, hot. My favourite dishes were masala paneer and onion pakoda. The chutneys were simply amazing too.

Deliciosa cocina india. Sin duda el mejor lugar para relajarse con la familia o amigos. La comida es 100% auténtica con muchas especias y sabor indio. El servicio es demasiado bueno. El ambiente es lo mejor.
