Esperé 30 minutos para nuestra mesa - sin disculpas. Además de eso, luego esperé más de una hora por nuestra comida. Lo mejor fue que el gerente culpó al “personal juvenil” por su falta de disculpas y valores amables. No visitaremos pronto. Necesitan resolver la dotación de personal, la gestión del tiempo y el servicio al cliente.

We have never had bad food here. Quality is always superb , and lovely staff. Best Indian in Cardiff .

The best Indian restaurant in Cardiff, hands down, with no competition!

The food here was delicious! Service was fast and the staff are very friendly, I had the chicken kufti to start which was amazing, then chicken tikka masala with a naan bread for main. I couldn’t recommend it enough! The place itself is fairly small so would recommend booking in advance via their website or by ringing ahead. You can also get takeaway and it was very busy which must be a good sign!

Fantastic Indian food, I went for the Captain Pathia which if you like hot is right up that street. I shared the bay leaf mixed grill to start. My beer choices were cobra (standard) and a banghra which was equally as good if not better than cobra. All in all a great meal out would recommend

Had a meal to celebrate my mothers birthday last night. The staff was so lovely, we had a child and a baby with us and they were so lovely. Very informative on the options and recommendations for meals plus they went slightly off menu for me. Would recommend! Thanks

One of the best indian restaurant in Cardiff. This place is much raved about from a friend that lives local so had to try it to see what was all about. The food, atmosphere and service was excellent. The front of house Mo Rid is excellent, who in fact helped me decide what speciality to go for after listening to my dietary requirements. Staff are very friendly and always attentive and smiley. I would also like to highlight this restaurant is very clean which is very hard to find.

Absolutely loved my meal Been twice and Ibriham our waiter has suggested a paneer vegetarian curry - tikka bhuna Best curry I have had in a long time Ibriham is fantastic. He is very enthusiastic and helpful. Cannot wait to go back!

First time visiting and really enjoyed the food. Partner had lamb shashlik which was soft and tender but also nicely caramelised. Great service, very reasonable priced. Couldn’t fault anything. Also easy free parking after 5pm without meters of restaurant which is always a bonus

Spent a few evenings here and I can’t fault the food we’ve had. Full of flavour, no quibbles about the quality. The service is good, very good in fact but we have had to wait a little bit longer than I would have liked in a selfish “serve me now” mindset. Can’t fault them really, and four / five seems mean but I do think there can be a small improvement and I’d rate 5 without hesitation

Asked for a table for 2 and was told they did not have any free for 2hrs. But as we did not book, we thought fair enough, and we tried other outlets nearby. but really fancied a curry so we opted for a takeaway, whilst we were ordering a family of 3 walked in and asked the same guy as I had spoken to and he ushered the to a table they had not booked. I looked at the guy in amazement, and the older guy apologised and took our takeaway order. It was only because my wife was hungry that I did not lose my rag as it was totally disrespectful. I will never go again

So, having just left there here’s our review. We have been going here for 20+years not every week but every now and again. Having not been there for a while this is how we were treated, when asked how the food was (chicken was extremely tough) as we were answering they walked away. Then when it came to pay we mentioned this AGAIN and we were told that next time we go we must ask them for tender chicken because that’s how it comes. No apologies, the owner said he’ll pass our comments on the the chef 2/10

Taken by my sister and brother in law who have been before, table booked for 7pm and greeted warmly, from then on for the rest of the evening nothing but excellent food and drink and as far as I could tell a full house, do book and proceed to dine on the finest Indian cuisine, with an extensive menu, along with discreet but attentive service with the table being yours.

We’ve been here on numerous occasions previously but on this particular occasion we were very disappointed. It was a Monday evening and very quiet. Only one other couple in the restaurant. We felt we were being rushed. We arrived at the restaurant at 7.50pm. We ordered wine and beer and poppadoms. Immediately they arrived and Within minutes after that the waiter came for our order. 20 minutes after we arrived at the restaurant they were clearing away our starters and bringing our main courses. Our starter’s were both very nice apart from the fact that when the waiter was serving my partners starter at the table, he tipped some of the food on the table and onto my partners lap. He apologised and carried on without attempting to wipe up the food he had tipped. We had to then ask twice ( 2 different waiters) for another napkin to wipe up the food. The older gentleman got us one very quickly after asking. The waiter came with our main courses. He didn’t know what dish to put in front of us as he didn’t know what they were. The other waiter came over and put the one dish in front of my partner. I asked what the other dish was as it didn’t look like what I ordered. He didn’t know. The older gentleman rushed to the front of the restaurant to look at our order and after checking our order he said it’s a chicken Bhuna. He said that the waiter was confused because they use the same sauce for a lot of dishes!!!?? It tasted like a masala sauce to me. I could taste coconut in the sauce which you don’t get in a Bhuna. Very disappointing main courses and the service was even more disappointing I’m sad to say.

I go here all the time, it's definitely one of my favourites. The servers are all friendly and helpful, and I enjoy the food, I love trying the different dishes.

Disappointing , with so many great reviews we were really looking forward to dining here . The starters onion bhaji and sheek kebab were both pretty tasteless , main course chicken tikka nahiyali tasted predominantly of black pepper I don’t know what happened to the garlic, mango and almonds ,also be aware if you think the chicken tikka will be traditional and red in colour you will be disappointed the chicken is white and no different to chicken and chips and not much of it ! The meal was served luke warm although warming plates were supplied , my wife had tandoori chicken which was ok but nothing special . My wife also had a peshwari Nan which she often refers to as her dessert being sweet and covered in coconut , this was not the case here the Nan was bland with very little coconut and wouldn’t have made a good plain Nan . Suffice to say we have eaten in much better Indian restaurants in Cardiff and won’t be rushing back to the Bayleaf !

As Indian cuisine fanatics - I believe we have ate in most Indian restaurants in Cardiff and much beyond - but nothing really compares to the Bay Leaf! The owner always greets us in such a polite and hospitable manner - and that really does make a difference - the food is nothing less than top notch and the overall ambiance is truly the best you could possibly want! The absolute BEST!!

Janga Puri for starters, King Prawn dhansak for main and all was delicious. On previous visit to Llandaff this place was fully booked and I can see why. I had 3 meals over the weekend in Cardiff and they all took the plate away before I'd finished chewing the final mouthfull, speedy but odd.

Best curry in Cardiff I’ve visited more than 20 times and the good vibes and friendly nature of the staff add to the fact the quality of the food is brilliant. Time after time I visit or order a takeaway and I get the same result. 5* Fabulous family restaurant and the customers returning speak for themselves. I personally have the vegetarian curries each time and they are amazing too. Couldn’t recommend more. Mr Matt

Dined here as a family of four November 25th the experience was horrendous, crammed in like sardines in a tin , the noise was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself speak , food was practically chucked at you with three waiters running to your table with food , The food starters were a big let down very greasy with a small bit of wilted lettuce as garnish , The main dishes was so tasteless and bland and the Nan breads the same the worst dining experience I’ve ever had I’d avoid at all costs !!!

Ordered a takeaway Friday for 2 and had to collected as they don't deliver, not a problem. We were very disappointed in the quality of food. The dishes were bland and the sauces were watery and tasteless. We have used this popular restaurant many times to dine in but we will never used for a takeaway again.

We visited with friends on a busy Saturday Night. The restaurant was busy and full. If there is one thing I cannot stand is being rushed. We were continually asked by different staff whether we were ready to order (the first after we had just come in and had not even looked at the menus). We had our wine, and then our starters. The food is delicious, so no complaints about that. However, as soon as the starters were taken away, almost immediately the main courses were brought to the table. A gap of 15-20 minutes would have been welcomed, and would be normal. Again, no complaints about the quality of the food served, but the whole experience was rushed (which I hate). We had to wait a long time for the bill and an equally long time for the card machine to be brought to the table. It looked as if they only have one such machine (something which is surprising given the number of covers). Despite what I have said, we would definitely go back, but hope that the next experience will not feel as rushed.

Tried out alot of indian food but this by far the best indian. Food is always top in here with so much speciality. Service is always excellent here with staff always smiling and attentive.

Primera experiencia en un restaurante indio. Preguntando a los camareros supieron recomendarnos perfectamente según los gustos y quedamos muy bien atendidos. La comida muy rica y con buenas raciones. Nos decidimos por este porque es un barrio aparentemente más residencial, tiene buena apariencia y lleno de gente local.

We eat here twice per month as its 20 miles from where we live. Service is always with a smile, very friendly staff and the cuisine is one of the best, which is why we come here. Car parking at top of street opposite Spar.

Pete and I have indulged in our fair share of Indian dining over the years we’ve been together, and Bay Leaf was by far the best. Food quality, the quality of service, value for money, speed of service were all faultless. Menu is extremely varied and food seemed high quality. The food didn’t feel greasy or oily as we’ve experienced in previous restaurants. Would love to return asap.

Simply the best restaurant in Cardiff, quite possibly the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. No faults. Fantastic service and incredible food, every time. I’ve been going for best part of 8 years, not a single bad meal!!!

Excellent crisps, samosas, biryanis, naan, etc. Great workers. Minor mishap in our order but they handled it professionally, no real complaint.

Best restaurant in Cardiff by far. Food and Service in this place is top. You can tell why this restaurant is so busy. Lots of variety of special currys and top atmosphere at the place even on Tuesday.

The food is excellent but for some reason, the staff insist on cleaning whilst you're still eating. This has now happened three times. The first time was lunchtime when they decided to clean the wall lights. Then, on two occasions (an hour before closing), they were sweeping and mopping the floor whilst still eating. There was also no choice to have deserts or coffee as the bill was presented without requesting it.

One of the best restaurants in Cardiff. I ordered the chicken shashlik and it really was the best I've ever had. And I've had a few! Good value too, around 25 per head with drinks. I cannot fault this superb restaurant.

Most people don't realise what they call ""Indian" restaurants, are in fact Bengali, About 95%. this is one of the best I have ever visited outside of West London ! A varied and interesting menu. My wife was actually tempted to change from her usual " Korma/ Butter Chicken to something different. The advice given by the friendly and knowledgeable waiter was "spot on. Good food, fairly priced, good service, Shall visit again when this area. Excellent.

Had a takeaway, which was cold to start. The Captain Palitha curry sauce was very watery and tasteless ( think they forgot to put any spices in it). Will not be using that place for a takeaway again. It did use to be one of the best Indians around, don’t know what’s happened to it now.

Had a takeaway Sunday £45 3 people, no delivery had to collect. Sauces watery and bland meat low quantity poor quality. Dined in and had takeaways there before as local to us and always been very good nice staff etc. Not sure what's happening new chefs cutbacks etc dont know but wont use again. Very disappointed.

I visited this restaurant last night for my first ever Indian restaurant experience and my birthday. The food was excellent with lots of options, we where given popadoms right away before even ordering and free chocolates included with the bill. They had Bollywood music playing in the background which was a very nice touch and the decorations lovely. Will definitely be returning

Food clearly contains the highest quality of fresh ingredients which can be tasted in everything they The food is always fresh and hot, presentation is exceptional and they always plan ahead to keep the food hot. Service is amazing too. Restaurant is very clean which is exceptionally rare today. Thank you to the staff who have been serving me and my guests for many years! I have had many take aways and sit down meals here with my girlfriend Evans over the past few years. I am a huge lover of spicy food, so have been to many local restaurants in my time, and can honestly say that The Bayleaf is the best!It wins hands down for consistently delicious food, with tender meat and is reasonably priced.Because it is so good, they are often very busy, but they manage this well, attentive and eager to please. A fabulous establishment, their food is amazing.
